I just now ordered the following:

15" MBP
i7 2.66GHz
4GB
500GB @ 7200rpm
High-Res antiglare

and

M-AUDIO Studiophile AV30 speakers

I seriously can't wait :D

I ordered a 15 inch 2.53 i5 on Wednesday. The only custom option I included was the 7200 rpm drive, but I am sort of regretting it as I starting to feel like the difference isn't a big enough deal and I would have already had my computer if I had just ordered the stock version.

FYI, my new CTO MBP 17 took just over 7 days to arrive. And I *love* the AG screen. I can't believe how much difference it makes. It's like all those other things you don't think are worth it until you have one (DVR, iPad, etc.). :)

New Mac owner... and loving it!

Just bought my first Mac today, the 2.4 GHz 13" Macbook Pro, and I couldn't be more excited to have made the switch from a craptastical PC. :D

Apple Order Status Down?

Hey,

I just logged in to the Apple Order Status to check my order but was greeted with this screen.

Is this just me or is anyone else experiencing this?

Waiting

I ordered the 15" i7 MBP in May 5th, they shipped it May 7th,
ETA is May 13 can't wait to replace my old white macbook

I got my first Mac yesterday, but unboxed it today. 15", i7, 4GB RAM, 500 GB HDD. It's fabulous so far. Loving how much faster it is than my HP, but I'm still going to use that laptop for a while while I learn to switch. And I have tons of files I'll have to switch over to a bootcamp partition.

Anyone want to reccomend a shell or a sleeve for my new laptop? XD

I feel your pain guys! I ordered the MBP you see in my sig on the 22nd of April!! My update currently says awaiting shipment- THIS HAS TAKEN ALMOST 3 WEEKS! One of the LONGEST three weeks EVER!(except for my iPhone(s) and iPad;))

My dad received my MacBook Pro and didn't tell me. I checked the tracker in school and he received it 3 hours before I got off school. Using it at the moment in the living room after I charged it up to 100% first. Currently my first hand impression is, as this is my first-ever mac, wow, amazing, awesome features. And: I want my delete button back :D !

Used it for one hour on battery, time says 5 hours left. Which is awesome considering what I expected.

No more PCs and windows for me, for sure !

Received my 15" 2.4 hi-res anti-glare this afternoon. One week from ordering to delivery. Originally purchased the glossy, but didn't like it so I gave it to my partner. So I guess we are both happy. :)

congrats to your new machine. I ordered the same with HR. But still waiting...

I recommend to buy the booq vyper m3. I bought the incase neoprene sleeve.

Both awsome products the difference: The incase has the zipper on one side only, so you kind of stick it in. The booq vyper has zipper all around and its material is harder. But check both out yourself. Search on youtube for them.

Cheers

I ordered mine the late evening of 5/6 (last Thursday). It is out for delivery right now!!! Too bad in about 20 min I have to leave to take my son to the Dr so it doesn't look like I'll be here when it gets here. I'm nervous about pre-signing for it though!

My Macbook Pro 15" HR Glossy just arrived 3 days early :D I knew it'd come early when the tracking said that is was only about a 6 hour drive away.

Pleasant surprise in the morning.

15inch Hi Res Antiglare Impressions

Well,

My new Mac turned up last week - its my first Mac and it's really a great experience. Now the debate I had with myself when ordering was glossy vs Antiglare (of course!). The Resolution choice was a no brainer (high res for me and for anyone as you can increase text sizes if need be).

I ended up getting antiglare after cancelling my original order of glossy - so pleased I did as its just a much more usable screen, and it looks really good and in all lighting situations. I have compared side to side with work mates who have the glossy and its just obvious which one is better (antiglare hi res).

I was originally concerned about the black trim (or lack of). Like a lot of people say not an issue, the silver boarder looks really good when you are using it. Also IMO the silver looks more professional, and like someone else said, less like a shiny toy (which looks beautiful I must say).

So.. If you want to use you MBP in different lighting conditions and concentrate on what you are doing on your screen (rather than whats sneaking up behind you), then go for antiglare (plus you get hi res, which is so much a bonus and I dont care what other people say about that one!!).

Also - its just an i5 2.4GHz, 4GB, 320GB HD. Seems to kick arse definitely over my work windows machine which has 4 physical cores! Must be Max OS ;)

Virtualisation also works nicely (virtualbox with Win7 as I need a couple of old win apps still). I mean it just works and is very snappy.

Battery life - make sure you turn off video on Skype (yes really) to make sure the non integrated GPU doesn't kick in. I suspect I will get 5-6 hours when just doing some coding, web surfing - but I haven't done any exensive testing yet.

My first thoughts..

First post.

15 year PC user, (started with windows 3.1).

Bought my first Mac: MBP 13, 8 gb, 512 SSD

Its pretty fast. I think OS X is better than Win 7. Boot up is between 3-4 seconds...on OS X. Tried bootcamp, but bootup is much slower.

After one week, was able to find same or better software for Mac. I owned the 1.4 ghz/4 gb/256 SSD Dell adamo prior to the Macbook. MB is better and more solid built. Adamo is good too, but a "little" more flimsy despite its all aluminum casing.

Only software I couldn't find that could compare to the PC version was Quickbooks 2009. PC beats Mac on this one. But I found a great solution:
Parallel and then run an nLited version of XP. XP installation size <150 mb. This makes the startup insanely fast. Running Parallel in "crystal" mode essentially allows you to run the PC software as if you were a PC.

I COULD not be happier. This notebook will last me a while....until another toy pops up.

My last problem: I can't get MB to connect via bluetooth to my iphone. I kept it in OS 3.0 due to this OS's ability to tether without jailbreak.

Just ordered the computer in my signature. It's replacing a 2.2 SR MBP which was my first. Well not actually replacing since it still works. Anyway can't wait to get it and good luck to the rest of you who ordered and are waiting.

My tracking just says "in transit to customer". Any ideas how long this'll take to reach the UK? Or does it vary?

It varies? What date's do you have?

You should have and estimated delivery date and another one below it.

The one below it is the one the carrier gets the package, within a couple of days/hours the bottom left will change to your carrier and your tracking number.

Depending on where you live in the UK it can take up to a few days to get it to you from UPS or TNT.
