The "I just ordered / bought / got my new/refurb MBP" thread [Merged]

Got my 15'' MBP yesterday, a day earlier than the last day of expected ship date! I love it! Grew up on MACs but had PC's the better half of my undergrad career. Glad to go back to my roots!
 
After months and months of waiting they finally got updated.
After weeks of waiting it finally arrived.
After a few hours of use I love this machine!
 
Still sitting in Memphis with this damn "International Shipment Release" crap. Been there since 2:03AM EST. Interestingly enough, my package changed weight. I noticed before hand it was 9.9lbs and now it went up to 10lbs. They are still claiming it'll be here on Thursday, but I don't know. I really hate FedEx, I don't think I have ever had a shipment go through where I was convinced it would be here on time, and half the time they weren't.

Should have my new i5 15" with 128 SSD tomorrow morning. Ive been waiting to make the switch from PC for a couple years now!

Us in the NW are in the same boat. Yet I ordered something from Amazon on the second, and will be getting it tomorrow. Know how I know? It's already in Seattle.

I would have to agree with you. Luckily however they finally moved it and my current status is "At Local FedEx Facility" so I am hopeful for an early drop tomorrow as they haven't updated my estimated delivery time from Thursday. Come on FedEx, do something well for a change!

You're "hating" the wrong organization.
"International Shipment Release" means it's stuck in customs. You're now a victim. Mine was stuck in customs nine days. So grab a cold one & chill out.
 
hi res gloss or matt

Is there any consensus here? I want the hi-res, I've checked the font sizes, bought new glasses, I can deal with that. I love the black bezel on the gloss but I really worry that the ghostly image of aunt Beatrice in the kitchen will forever block out the text in the upper right quadrant of the screen.

For home use .. is gloss bad, not bad, horrible? If you ever take your laptop out of a darkened room will you be able to see?

I have 20/20 vision, and I couldn't stand the big mirror. Any source of light direct, or even indirect will reflect. And if you wear glasses, it's really going to be bad. Since as you know you already are looking throught the inner and outer surface of your glasses, two reflective surfaces. My brother has a glossy and he kept telling himself he would get used to it. Well, now it's too late to return it and he stuck with it.

In the retail stores shiny objects look good and they sell.

But this is an expensive computer we're talking about, that in my case I actually use to get work done. So when I returned my Glossy / Mirrored MacBook Pro for the Matte display, I was super happy.

I will never make that mistake again!
 
Shipping to Canada?

I ordered the base 15-inch i5 MacBook Pro. The Apple Store says it should be delivered between May 6 and May 13. I ordered online on Monday night, May 3rd. I live in Quebec, Canada. Do you know if I should worry about customs? I read that they sometimes get delayed there for a few weeks. Is that still true?

I bought the new base mac pro 15 in. I wanted to buy one from last year but I was waiting for the updated version and also the cash lol.
 
Glossy vs. Matte

To each his own. I have a 24 inch LED display and a 27 inch imac both with the glossy screens, and yes sometimes the glare is seriously annoying, but most of the time, the clarity and the way the colors pop looks great. I also have a new 17 inch glossy mbp and other than having to adjust it from time to time to avoid the glare it works fine for me. I had the older mbp with the matte screen and although there was minimal glare, the colors were not nearly as clear and sharp. So you trade one for the other. I can live with either screen and don't necessarily think the glossy screen is worse than the matte screen. My Mac Pro also has the 30 inch screen which is matte as well.

I ordered the same MBP from MacMall on 4/30 and it's on back order. They said a shipment is expected anytime between now and 5/11. They offered my free overnight for my patience. I've waited months for the update, I suppose I can wait a few more days.
 
My 3 year old macbook crashed today so I bought a i7 15' MBP today from the bookstore. yay for student discounts?
 
Just got mine! It's awesome, so far- I'm calibrating the battery as a side effect of me converting my entire itunes library :)
 
Brand new Mac user here, I ordered the 13" MBP with a 128GB SSD. It arrived in three days after I got an email saying it was shipping.

Can't complain so far. The only issue I've noticed is that on the British keyboard, the @ and " symbols are like on US keyboards - is that normal?
