Should have posted here first, I guess.

Got a 13" MBP, 2.4 GHz C2D on 5/14. Its battery appears to be defective so it may have to go back to the store already.

Got my lovely shiny new laptop! After waiting for Arrandale for 6 months! It's perfect as far as I can tell. No dead pixels, no bleed, yellowing or anything. Running very cool. Nicest laptop I've ever owned so far. Lots of stuff installed. High res screen is sweeeet.

Can't recommend it highly enough!

first post from my new macbook pro. 15" i7 2.66. screen tests show perfect working order etc so fingers crossed everything is perfect.

Status:
In Transit - On Time
Scheduled Delivery Date:
25/05/2010
Shipped/Billed On:
17/05/2010

Ordered this on the 16th and it said it should arrive on the 19th to 25th. How accurate are UPS delivery dates?

I posted a few days ago that I ordered my MBP 17 Inch I7 and it arrived yesterday but I had to inspect it really well as it had a big hole in the side of the box. Likely it only penetrated the outside box and not the MBP but man was I upset and the Fedex guy was cool about it and understood if I did not take it..

But since I had waited this long I had to crack open the box and verify that the MBP Box was fine..

As you can see the hole that was made from shipment and the holder inside the box that held the MBP in place worked perfectly..

So took ownership and just added a MCE Optibay and added the Intel SSD and a 7200 RPM 500 Gig drive as well bumped the memory to 8 gig and the I7 is rockin.

This afternoon my 17" Core i5 Macbook Pro arrived! I had to pay a lot more than I would have in the US, but it seems flawless so far (no dead pixels, no yellow tint, no freezing issues, no heat issues, no noise issues). This is replacing a four-year-old Mac Mini so I'm psyched! :D

got my new 15" i7 yesterday afternoon!

(taken with my iPhone, sorry)

Specs are:

15" Core i7
Hi Res Glossy
500GB 7200rpm
Nvidia 330M 512MB
8GB 1066MHz DDR3 SDRM

Drained the battery last night and just charged it all the way up:

Screenshot2010-05-19at122914PM.png

MORE than the original capacity. Awesome. Only showed about 5 hours at 50% brightness though, with not much running. I thought these were supposed to last 8-9 hours?

Where did the UK specific thread go?

I'm in London and I just saw this on my tracking info, a week ahead of time, basically:

Estimated Delivery Date (Subject to change) 20 May 2010 (Subject to change)
Current Delivery Status Shipment dispatched 19 May 2010

Question is now, at what times do they usually deliver in the UK?

It would be very bad if I would need to be at home the whole day...

EDIT: I just see that they're using UPS. Can't remember when they deliver, but they usually drop by quite early, right?

be happy with your 5 hours at 50% brightness. The advertised 8-9 hours is only accurate if the screen brightness is turned to "off" and absolutly no programs are running.

just ordered my first 15' MBP opted for "Next-Day shipping".

very excited and the wait seems eternity.

New MBP question....

Hi All,

After a long wait (Oct 2009 for a new MBP and ordered on the 17th April!) i finally received my new....

MBP 15inch i7 with the upgraded high resolution glossy screen and 7200rpm.

I have a few points/questions for discussion (first time mac owner! sorry!)

1) As soon as i plugged the Mag safe power adapter into the power and my computer i smelt a burning smell (I thought maybe as it was new that was normal?) and it now has a burnt black bit near where you change the power point bit - and it wont charge the MBP and i never saw a light at all!
2) How do i know that my computer has 7200 RPM - it wasn't listed on the box and i want to make sure i got what i paid for!
3) When i am scrolling with the track pad - it keeps flipping back up to the top - help! it's a bit frustrating!

Any advise re these questions would be appreciated :)

I am sure once i know what i am doing i will love it ;)

Finally recieved my macbook pro 15" i7 / 4gb / 500gb 7200 rpm / high-res AG. Really nice machine but it has froozen 3 times on me. Was able to move the mouse cursor but couldn't click anything plus keyboard was not responding. Since it is my 1st mac I was kinda suprised; I was happy to make the shift from windows for stability but 3 crashes fresh out of the box.. That's too much. I'm trying to do a clean install to see if it helps. All in all he build of the machine is incredible. The screen is lovely.

1) This is definitely not normal or OK! Contact Apple immediately using the phone number in your manual.
2) You can open System Profiler and I believe that information will be displayed, however it's probably not necessary. If you order was for a 7200 RPM drive it would be incredibly unusual for Apple to error.
3) You're going through some learning curves, that is normal. If you haven't already I'd recommend reading over:

Yes it's lots of material but will make your long term experience and transition much smoother.

Roger

Placed an order for a MBP 13" 2.66 about a week ago. I've been using a 24" iMac at my workplace - that's actually what made me change (Windows user for many years). I can't wait to receive it.. :)

Hi Roger,

Thanks for your advice - I will get onto Apple today - hopefully they will just replace the whole charger unit - as it doesn't work anyway and my MBP is 1 day old!
I will try and find the system profile - if not - i will assume Apple has given me the right computer :)
And i shall have a look at that information - i really appreciate you highlighting this for me!

Have a great day!

Cheers
Susan :)

well that's dumb.

but i swore i read their footnote and it said at 50% brightness and using text editors and/or safari.

It has only taken 5 weeks but I got a call today from my local reseller saying my cto 15" i7 has arrived so will finally be able to pick up my new baby tomorrow. Was quite annoyed they called me at 4:58pm to tell me it was here when the store closes at 5pm so I couldn't get it today but yes am very excited!!! Probably won't order it through that store again though

This thing is going to kick butt!
I personally opted for the 13 for portability sake and the fact that I'm working with audio and don't feel a dedicated video card will help me too much. C2D for audio/music apps is plenty for me too as I don't do a lot of high end stuff. Mostly using this little beast as a virtual intrument for my keyboard rig and some light recording.
Some people may think it's crazy to pay extra for the 2.66, but if you want the fast 13 mbp you can get, this is it!
Should be here by next Friday hopefully!!!!
