hey there everyone, first post :D

just ordered a refurb mid 2009 15 inch base model for £1099 ($1,590.31), I know its not the latest and greatest but it was either that or the new 2010 13 inch for £999 ($1,445.60) and as battery life (7 hours vs 10) and graphics power were not a issue for me the choice was pretty easy, just have to wait for it to arrive now. :D

any feedback on my purchase?, I was just interested on hearing others opinions on it from their point of view :apple:

how much did you saved?

how much did you saved?

according to the apple store I saved 17% which is £229 ($331)

I am going to note I bought it based on what I would get for my money compared to the 13 inch 2010 MBP (only £100 difference), I know the new 15 and 17 inch are a lot better then last years models but I was comparing the refurb I just bought to the 2010 13 inch spec and in the end the refurb spec suited my needs better. (hope that makes sense :D)

Congrats

Excluse which printer did Apple give you for free (I'm guessing with rebate)?!

Also is the BackToSchool promo only allow the 8GB or is the 16GB/32GB eligible if you pay the difference?!

I am gonna put it towards the 32GB so it's only gonna be $100 out of pocket which I think is a pretty good deal.

To answer your question: you can pay the difference.

I might do the same as you did. I'm looking at the 2.66GHz refurb for $1529.00 (USD), that's a 23% savings. I have thought about buying the new 2.4GHz using the educational discount but overall I feel the refurb is the way to go. I wonder when we will see i5 and i7 refurbs?

Well a couple things.
FYI the $100 printer rebate goes on all year long.
Whenever you purchase a new mac and a printer at the same time, you become eligible for a $100 rebate.
The reason the printer can be "free" is because Apple offers printers that cost exactly $100.
I opted for a wireless printer which costs $129.99 so I ended up -$30 after I received the rebate money.
I got the HP Photosmart C4700 (w/ wifi). I believe the HP Photosmart C4600? (w/o wifi) is $100.

I just ordered a 15" MBP with the Core i7, 7200 RPM 500GB HDD, and the higher resolution monitor as upgrades. Built-to-order! My first Mac. :apple: I've seen it at my local computer store several times, and I loved it. Here's to (hopefully) many great years!

Delivery

I ordered my first mac on saturday night. Macbook pro i7, 8 gigs of ram and just tonight the status was changed to "prepared for shipping". Anybody have an idea of how long it will be before i get it?

Once it's prepared for shipping, it can sit up to 24hrs. Apple ships these on huge palets. Nothing leaves the plant until all palets are filled. Then it moves quickly to Alaska where there is another potential delay, customs. I've had a laptop get stuck in customs for ten days. I've also had them clear in an hour. Once it clears, then it will arrive quickly.

I'm getting my MBP in a day or tow but still can't convince myself between 13" vs 15". I thought I'd go with 15" and then comes i5 vs i7 & standard glossy vs hi-res glossy. I have students discount (15%) and can get 8GB iPod Touch for £30 (after rebate). Can someone who recently bought MBP 13" or 15" after long thinking suggest which I should be going for? I see lot of people recommend 13" for portability and can connect to external display when at home.

Is there a 'magical' difference between C2D vs i5/i7? I'd go with 13" if there wasn't significant difference between C2D and i5. Suggestions welcome :)

I haven't posted here in a really long time, as I've been abroad for a year.

But I am back home now and couldn't think of a better way to return home than to order a new MacBook Pro and post about it on MacRumors!!

I ordered a 15" Core i7 HR-AG with a 7200 rpm 500 gb HD. It's currently in Shanghai, according to the last time I checked FedEx's website (which should become my homepage based on how often I'm checking it!)

Feels good to be back, both home and on MacRumors!

Sweetness!!
Excluse also thanks for the update.

I think next month I'll bite on getting the new 13" to replace my Al_uMB and the wife can buy that; My son gets his first iPod Touch (at 12; my wife's) and she gets the new iPod 32GB up from 16GB and I await the Bold 9800 rumored or the iPhone HD :D

I selected the i5 15" standard screen. The discrete gpu is a boon for graphic work and file conversions. Frankly, it is also easier to read. The only reason why I did not go to the i7 and hi-res screen was the money and deal availability. It is easy to talk your way up, until you cannot afford what you want.

:)

so happy, I got a new 13" mbp from the Apple store a few days ago. Added a seagate momentus 640gb drive, runs great. First mac, and the battery life is great compared to any windows laptop i've ever had! Just ordered a wrapsol wrap and the vyper xs3. Just wanted to share the excitement lol

New Mac

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone on the forum - I was an obsessive lurker for months until the back to school promo started, and I am now typing on my exquisite 15" HR Glossy i5 mbp - my first mac and couldn't be happier :)

Edit: IMHO - HR font is nowhere near too small and I haven't adjusted anything, and the 7200 rpm 500 gb hard drive is utterly silent in mine :)

I Ordered my 1st MB, MBP 15", last week (27th May) [2.66GHz Intel Core i7, 4GB 1066MHz DDR3 SDRM - 2x2GB, 500GB Serial ATA Drive @ 5400, SuperDrive 8X DL, MBP 15" HR Glossy WS Display] and waiting for delivery on 4th June..:)

Can anybody tell me, How much they charge if I return it un-opened or opened..??

Because, WWDC is on 7th June, and I'm expecting changes on MBP.:D

Thanks.

Quick Question. I've been reading through this thread and I noticed that alot of members buy their mbp from the apple online store. Why is it so? Do they carry low stocks in store? I'm just asking because I am planning on buying a mbp 13 with my student discount after wwdc next week and we have about 5 apple stores in the houston area. Just curious.
