I love my Macbook pro!!!!

Just had to share my exuberance after owning it for a couple of weeks so far. It's my first Mac, long time PC and Linux user. The computer is just so dang nice! It is a pleasure to use a laptop again. Just open it up and go! Unfortunately, I must use a windows laptop at work. Wish I could bring my Mac in and use that, but corporate IT would have a shitfit. At least I get a dual quad-core Linux workstation to use as well...

Placed my order...

15" MBP i7

Decided to splurge and got a Data Doubler from OCW along with a 120 gig Mercury Extreme Pro SSD. Should be nice when switching to Boot Camp for Civ5 and back.

Also got a Crucial 8 gig memory pack... gonna upgrade this baby myself...

Parallels and Windows 7 Home Premium. (Learned from some Googling tonight that I can install Windows 7 on a partition via Boot Camp and load it with either Boot Camp or a VM in Parallels... nice.)

Plus a designer laptop sleeve, just 'cause.

Still on the lookout for something I can keep between this beast and my lap for the times it heats up. Or maybe a stand I can place it on next to me on the couch.

Still, very excited. This thing should be a monster. And thanks to Amazon Prime I get it all by Saturday. Countless hours the past few days reading forum after forum... I've learned way too much about graphics cards and SSDs along the way. But it's almost done.

Ordered a baseline MacBook Pro 13 inch from Amazon earlier for £901.29 inc delivery for tomorrow. Need to get a case still..

Kinda expensive for a C2D laptop but you only live once :D

Can the processor be overclock at all?

Due to having to travel quite a bit now for work, I decided to splurge today and pick up an 15' i7 MacBook Pro. Will upgrade the HDD to an SSD a little later on down the road.

My God, I am in LOVE with this thing. I had some issues owning a 27' iMac due to the overly bright screen and tiny resolution, but I'm having NO difficulties with this, and it is SO GOOD to be back on OSX again!

As long as this can sort of run World of Warcraft okay, I'm going to be happy with this machine for years to come. :)

Ordered my new Macbook Pro on Thursday 16th; Shipped out last night and will be with me on Monday!

Using my student status, I also blagged the extended warranty and a free printer. All in all, one very happy guy :D I can finally put my 4yr old macbook to bed :apple:

Sorry to make another post about this, but I am absolutely in LOVE with this MacBook Pro. So glad I took the plunge!

Spent all weekend setting up and playing with mine. I can't believe how BRIGHT the screen is and how fast it can load Parallels or reboot to Windows 7.

I haven't been much of a power user over the years, but if anyone has suggestions for cool apps or utilities that I'd enjoy, I'd appreciate it. Stuff like Dropbox, coconutbattery, etc.

I can't sleep but i need to for tomorrow work in which where I will be receive my MacBook Pro shipment box... it is delayed already by Fedex.. (grr) at least I got my shipping refund back.

There are several websites that offer suggestions regarding software utilities and the like. I'm sure you will find them with a simple search. In the meantime, here is one to get you started.

Hey guys,

New user to the forum here, long time reader...

Ordered my very first :apple: MBP last Saturday however, I am not happy with how this shipping has been going so far and totally confused by Apple and FedEx. For instance, the package sat ready for shipment for at least 24 hours in China and then I finally got a notification that it shipped but this is what FedEx has said for the last 48 hours!

Sep 21, 2010 10:49 PMLeft FedEx origin facility SHANGHAI CN
Sep 21, 2010 10:45 PM Shipment information sent to FedEx
Sep 21, 2010 10:38 PM Picked up SHANGHAI CN

So it's just sitting in China? Usually FedEx is faster than this. Called FedEx and all they could tell me was that it's still in China. Any thoughts?

another new MBP owner!

Hello all!

Just ordered a 13" MacBook Pro this afternoon & I'm really excited! I'm upgrading from a 7 year old 15" PowerBook g4 that is finally starting to have screen issues. I don't know if I'm more excited about the awesome battery life (haven't had a working battery in my laptop for 2 years) or Snow Leopard! (still have Tiger on the PB) So I have a lot of new things to catch up on.

Can't wait for it to come, yay!

There's a lot of information in this community. Reading posts here helped me pick out which laptop is the best for me, so thanks for that! ;)

Ordered a macbook pro mc374ll/a model last night on amazon. Signed up for the free trial of prime which came me free overnight shipping so total came to $1153.00 no tax free overnight shipping will be here on the 24th.

Got my 15" hi-res anti-glare 2.66 Ghz i7 MBP last night at the Apple Store. I've been a PC stalwart for many years, but did always want a Mac of some sort. So far, I am loving it!!

bitter sweet :) :-(

I just received my Macbook Pro on 9/21/10... I've been waiting to get this computer for a year! Buttttttt! now that I have it - I am sooooo lost

I was a PC girl and now I'm a MAC woman! ha ha ha (sometimes I miss my PC just because I knew how to work it  )

WISH ME LUCK! (I need it)
:(

education discount

Why did you people not buy just a few days/weeks ago when the back to school offer was out...you would have got £130 off ipod touch and £70 off printer...

I can't anyways, but I got a student discount $200+ off.

Mine is CTO, I don't like the default one from store.

I just got my 13" 2.4Ghz MBP from the Apple store, first impressions; I LOVE IT! Got a great discount, was expecting to get 6% off but the assistant bumped me up to the university discount because he was awesome!

This is my first Mac, I am in love with this thing. It's just so fricking amazing!

Also, does anyone know if I can minimise the applications bar when I've got a window open?

By applications bar I presume you're talking about the menu bar at the top of the screen? That's where you choose settings for the program you're running. It won't disappear unless you're running a full screen program. Check this link out: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2473

All is not lost though, check out the refurb store. Some deals there are better than edu discounts. Just my two cents. :D
