Got my brand new macbook pro 13" 2.4ghz today. Loving it!! I converted from PC to Mac.
Why didn't you get the 13' MBA? Seems like performance of the two are on par, and the MBA is lighter.
Just got my new replacement MBP from the Apple store today. Love it so far but am getting used to the small font on the HRAG screen.
Stupid Question: I am feeling like I need to update flash player to the latest version knowing how sketchy it can be. How can I tell if it is installed on my machine (in light of Apple saying they were no longer shipping computers with it installed). I don't see it in the Applications folder.
I am obviously happy now, but a little miffed on missing out on the joke
of automatic graphics switching problems.
Congratulations!
For Flash Player, go here:
Adobe Flash Player
If you have Flash Player installed it will run a little animation and below it will show what version you have installed and below that will be a list of the current versions for different platforms.
nice choice! you will love it! did you order online?Ordered a 15 inch Macbook Pro with the high res glossy screen on the 30th. We'll see how long it takes to get here. First Mac.

oh absolutely, it will be a MASSIVE step up for you! cannot go wrong wiht itI think I should be pretty damn happy with this laptop. Kinda hurt the wallet ( got Apple care too). I come from a Linux and Windows background. I kind of ignored Mac for a while. I went to the store, loved the quality. OS X has a real terminal and has built in 'vi' which is one of my favorite editors. I've been doing a lot of programming lately on a 1.3Ghz CULV Core 2 Duo, it has become too slow for comfort.
personally for myself, having an i7 quad core iMac with 12GB RAM, i use VMs (quite a few) - normally they do not require loads of power so its fine for me. i think the general concensus is slowly changing from BC to VM (i prefer parallels, it is faster and imo more reliable then vmware). i guess it all depends on your usages really.I am curious, do most people like to virtualize Windows in some VM, or do they prefer the bootcamp method. I am not sure what programs I will be running in Windows quite yet. I have licensed copies of Windows software such as Matlab ... etc.
