Just got my 13" MBP yesterday, and I'm loving it so far. To test performance I had everything in my dock running, and it didn't even lag. So happy! It's so pretty too. I don't know how I could cope with Windows before. :p

Why didn't you get the 13' MBA? Seems like performance of the two are on par, and the MBA is lighter.

The extra expense. Plus I'm not really a fan of the MBA. It seems like if you really wanted to, you could snap it in half. And $1300 for a Apple's Netbook is way too much.

I just ordered my MBP 15" with AG screen. It's going to take 4-6 weeks to be shipped to the store here though :( It'll be worth it! Swapping from PC.

MacBook Pro 13 inch

I just bought a used Macbook Pro 13 inch off of Craigslist. It is absolutely beautiful, Hardly any noticeable wear!
Not the newest model but has the 2.26 C2D, 2GB RAM, and a 320 GB hard drive.
I plan on upgrading to 4GB here pretty soon

And the best news yet is I got it for $650!

Couldn't be happier!!

MBP 17 i7 AG Refurb to New in 30 minutes

I ordered a refurb MacBook Pro 17", i7 - 2.66, 500HD, AG from the Apple Online store last weekend.

I got it delivered on Thursday night, (did a short dance and fist pump) and opened the box.

At start up, the screen freezes up during the setup. And keeps freezing on every reboot after 2 minutes.

8 hours later, after reviewing every forum I could (should have done this first, I realize),
no luck in solving the problem. I am extremely frustrated to say the least.

I take it to my neighborhood Apple Store and after a 30 minute wait,
the genius bar staff look at each other when I explain my problems,
gets the manager (or whoever she was), and immediately swap it for a new MBP.

I am obviously happy now, but a little miffed on missing out on the joke
of automatic graphics switching problems.

Just got my new replacement MBP from the Apple store today. Love it so far but am getting used to the small font on the HRAG screen.

Stupid Question: I am feeling like I need to update flash player to the latest version knowing how sketchy it can be. How can I tell if it is installed on my machine (in light of Apple saying they were no longer shipping computers with it installed). I don't see it in the Applications folder.

Congratulations!

For Flash Player, go here:

Adobe Flash Player

If you have Flash Player installed it will run a little animation and below it will show what version you have installed and below that will be a list of the current versions for different platforms.

I just order the mbp 15" 2.4 with time capsule and applecare and I ended up saving $457 over apple's price and it helps that I have prime. :D

I just ordered a MBP 13" 2.4GHz! My HP desktop is over 6 years old and needs to be replaced. I think I'll love the portability of the MBP :).

Ordered a 15 inch Macbook Pro with the high res glossy screen on the 30th. We'll see how long it takes to get here. First Mac.

nice choice! you will love it! did you order online?

Yes I did. I tried going to the store and getting a 15 inch with my specificatoins ( I like glossy displays). All they had was 15 AG displays.

I think I should be pretty damn happy with this laptop. Kinda hurt the wallet ( got Apple care too). I come from a Linux and Windows background. I kind of ignored Mac for a while. I went to the store, loved the quality. OS X has a real terminal and has built in 'vi' which is one of my favorite editors. I've been doing a lot of programming lately on a 1.3Ghz CULV Core 2 Duo, it has become too slow for comfort.

I am curious, do most people like to virtualize Windows in some VM, or do they prefer the bootcamp method. I am not sure what programs I will be running in Windows quite yet. I have licensed copies of Windows software such as Matlab ... etc.

I hope to get it by next week. Acknolwedgement email said delivers Nov 3 - 9. Seems kind of optimistic to me.

oh absolutely, it will be a MASSIVE step up for you! cannot go wrong wiht it :)

personally for myself, having an i7 quad core iMac with 12GB RAM, i use VMs (quite a few) - normally they do not require loads of power so its fine for me. i think the general concensus is slowly changing from BC to VM (i prefer parallels, it is faster and imo more reliable then vmware). i guess it all depends on your usages really.

Yeah it appears that Virtualization is maturing quite fast. Parallels looks promising. I might do bootcamp for now with the intention of switching later. Invest in a more mature Parallels. Anticipation is killer. Battery life numbers seem almost unreal. I read details about what I am getting in anticipation. Apple has some pretty good documentation. Waiting for that shipment email.

already purchased but will come in 2-3 weeks time.:(
15" i7 2.66 4GB ram 500gb 7200rpm

will buy in later years the ssd and upgrade to 8gb ram but for now i'm ok with the specs i've bought

I'm still in shock I just went "back to the mac". I used Macs growing up and made the switch to a PC when I went to high school back in the early 90's. I just bought a refurbed Macbook Pro 15" 2.4 i5 with the high-res antiglare screen. Seemed like a great price for such a beautiful system. I'm sure when the Pro refresh line comes out I'll have a little envy ... can't wait till delivery tomorrow! Talk about a big switch ... phew!

Just Got My First One...

Ordered the following last night:

MBP
2.8 i7
15" with hi-res anti-glare
8 gb ram
256 SSD

Also got a cinema display and wireless keyboard and mouse.

I am ready to make the switch!

I just got home from the Apple store with my new baby! The 15inch 2.8/4GB/330M/500GB HDD model with the anti-glare display. I am absolutely over the moon happy right now! I'm making the switch as soon as my son is in bed!
