I just got home from the Apple store with my new baby! The 15inch 2.8/4GB/330M/500GB HDD model with the anti-glare display. I am absolutely over the moon happy right now! I'm making the switch as soon as my son is in bed!

Congrats! I just got my 17" i7 2.8 mbp in the post last night :) seagate 500 momentus xt just went in last night too and I hot a 72000 500gb with the mbp too so I'll have 1tb on the SuperDrive is takeout :D

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPod; U; CPU iPhone OS 3_1_2 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/528.18 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile/7D11 Safari/528.16)

Just ordered the 15 inch mbp 2.4hz yesterday! Hope it gets here fast i only added a 500g @ 7200 hard drive so i hope it doesnt take to long to customize.

My first ever Mac is being ordered today. Very nice birthday present to get!

Going with a 15" 2.66 i7, upgrading to the 7200 rpm hard drive and the hi-res glossy display. Can't wait for it to get here (this old thinkpad T61 just isn't cutting it!)

Got my MBP yesterday! 13" 2.4ghz and I couldn't be happier!

i guess i bought enough stuff with my bank visa card to have them send me a new 13 mpb 2.4 with 4gigs, 250.

i was going to sell it but it's growing on me. the only reason i'm keeping is also because microsoft mac office finally released with native outlook. it's a must have app for me.

hope to learn more!

My MBP arrived today. I am having great fun on it. Xcode is awesome ....

Is Apple Care automatically applied, or do I have to do something manual?

I received my 15" 2.5ghz MBP today. hires, AG screen, 7200 rpm HD were only upgrades.

Sure seems huge on my lap compared to my 4 year old tablet PC with 12" screen :)

I've only had 2 "problems" so far.

I moved my Upgrade copy of Windows 7 from my old laptop, which I'm returning to it's original XP before giving it away. The problem there is after installing it in BOOTCAMP, when I then installed Vmware, it didn't activate. I had to talk to a representative to get it activated. Not an Apple problem, but a combination of Microsoft and VMWare..

The other issue is that I really have to adjust to the new trackpad. My old trackpad was smaller, with 2 separate buttons. My instincts do NOT work well with the much larger trackpad on the MBP without separate buttons. Trouble getting the secondary click to work for me in a comfortable manner.

I had planned to get the i7. For some reason I had it in my mind that it was a true quad core, vs the hyperthreading on the MBP i5. Since it wasn't, I backed off and saved some money.

I just ordered my first MBP (15" i5 2.4 GHz) on Thursday with the free shipping option from the Apple online refurb store. FedEx says it's on the vehicle for delivery today (saturday delivery...sweet!).

It comes with a 320 GB 5400 RPM drive, but I have a 500 GB 7200 RPM WD Scorpio Black that I just bought and had in a Win7 laptop for a few weeks. if I format it for the Mac, will I notice any performance increase or battery decrease compared to the stock hard drive that comes with it? The size isn't a big deal, but I want performance and speed! :)

Congrats on your new MBP. My recommendation is forget about the WD Scorpio Black and get yourself a Seagate Momentus XT Hybrid. You will see much faster boot times and file opening times. Do a search on Youtube and you'll find lots of comparisons.

Ordered! I've been gradually moving over to the world of apple starting with an iPad, then iPhone and now a mbp.

I was drooling over the air, but the cost is still prohibitive for me, so when I started reading about refurbished machines, I was over the moon. :) ordered myself 2.4ghz 13" 4gb. Also separately ordered a c300 128gb ssd as I like everything I've been reading. The instant launching of apps a
One convinced me.

Only problem now is the wait....I'm so impatient!

Love that they're speedy...My custom build said 1-3 days before it would ship, but it was picked up less than 12 hours after the order was placed on Friday. In transit and scheduled to arrive on Wednesday!

New to Mac

So I ordered my first Mac one week ago. It is a MacBook Pro 15", i5 2.53Mhz, Highr Resolution Matte screen and 500GB 7200rpm HD.

On top of this I've also ordered:
- a couple of magic mouses
- one trackpad
- one cabled keyboard
- one Mini DisplayPort to VGA adapter
- the Speck Satin Black case
- an H-Squared mount for the AirPort Extreme (this is the 5th I'll install in my home, it has been sitting there for a couple of years)
- An additional 85W power brick
- the moshi keyboard cover
- Parallels!
- Office 2011 Business
- the Bose speakers (the cheap one) - I think I may have made a mistake, wanted to go for the M-Audio BX5a, let's see
- the foobar red sleeve
- the M-Edge desktop raiser

And, just now, after following the forum, the 8GB memory expansion from Crucial

Why? Hopefully I can get rid of Windows 7 and its registry.

Everything should be delivered within this week, then it will be a discovery.

Next move, but I still need to assess the situation, it may be an SSD.

Looking forward to get info from all of you guys.

Cheers.

yesterday got my 15", i5 hi-res refurb from apple to replace 2008 white book; just finished transferring ssd over. the anti-glare display is amazing, me so happy, me love it long time.

Dipping my toe...

After years resisting all things Apple I have finally decided to go for the Macbook Pro as my laptop replacement. I relented because I have had 2 iPhones and also have the new Apple TV - in all cases (and I almost hate to say this) they not only "just worked" but also changed the game.

Ordered it last night so not yet sure of delivery date (before 24th Nov & I certainly hope so).

15" with i7 2.66, AG screen and faster HDD

can't wait!

Just a heads up for people (like me) who just bought a mac that has the iLife'09 on it, Apple will give you iLife'11 for 7 bucks on their website:
http://www.apple.com/ilife/uptodate/

Sorry if this has already been posted, but I just found out (Best buy tried to sell it to me for $45!!!!).

I'll look into that one a bit more...seems kinda pricey.

I haven't found detailed specs on the drive that came with my 2010 i5 MBP though. In my System Profiler, it says its a Hitachi HTS545032B9SA02. When I searched it on the Hitachi site, it didn't come up. Some seem similar though.

Order status says estimated shipping 3 days (fair enough since it is not a standard build) BUT delivery 23/24 Nov - - how does it take 10 working days to deliver? I'm pretty sure my ATV2 took less than 10 days to get all the way from China

Love to know if you folks had similar estimates and whether they turned out to be accurate.

I wish my order would take 10 days, but I have to wait 6-8 WEEKS for mine to come. :(

I got a 160GB X25-M Solid State Drive from Intel. Beautiful, i highly recommend it to anyone. Boots incredibly fast, instant on when i open the top, silent, makes no noise, or heat.. also greatly increases battery life, and opens any application in a split second. As i said, i HIGHLY recommend picking up a solid state drive, no matter what kind of user you are..

nahh they always exaggerate..i think they think its fun to give max time os when it arrives early you can leap out in joy (or something like that :p)

you live pretty far from CA though, thats probably why it will take a while.
