First Mac

I'm official now. Just picked up my first Mac tonight at the Apple Store. It's a bace model 13" MacBook Pro and I'm very pleased. There is much for me to learn. This site has been a great resource and will surely continue to be as I figure out things out.

Ordered my 15" on Thursday, still not showing that it's been shipped. only thing I 'custom' ordered was the matte screen.

Same Here. I ordered around 11:30AM Pacific with only the anti-glare option and still no shipping info.

I am really looking forward to upgrading from this Core Duo machine.

Same...I ordered mine on Thursday night around 9PM ET. Still stays "Not shipped yet" but the estimated delivery dates are Feb. 28 - Mar. 4. I got the base 15" with matte screen and 7200rpm HDD. Here's to hoping that it will come on the 28th.

Mine is going to have quite the journey. My US-based boyfriend works for Apple so obviously ordered it for me, and is shipping it to me. This morning it was in Shanghai. Now it's in Alaska. It will travel southeast until it hits Louisville, KY. At which point it will be shipped to me in Bristol, England. That's over halfway around the world--wish there were an economical way to just have it sent west in the first place!

Just got my high-end 15" MBP. Couldn't opt for a high-res glossy/anti-glare because I had to buy it for Best Buy. I'm happy with this nonetheless.

I just hope you don't get stuck with import duty/tax when it arrives, did you check about this before ordering? I know here products worth over $1000 are taxed.

Macmall via ebay today, I got the 13.3 new MBP.

Apple 13.3" MacBook Pro dual-core Intel Core i5 2.3GHz, 4GB RAM, 320GB Hard Drive, Intel HD Graphics 3000, SuperDrive, Thunderbolt port, Aluminum unibody, Glossy Widescreen Display.

$1128.99 shipped
- $45.16 in eBay bucks (if you have double bucks today)
- $30.00 (3% cashback mr rebate max $30)
= $1053.83

I'm giving my 2010 MBP to my nephew who just got a full ride to Mech Eng school.

Don't worry, your reflection will keep you company.

I kid, I kid. :D

That made me chuckle. Seriously though I went for the high-res glossy too. I understand anti-glare might be better for color accuracy but my face is pretty damn good looking and if I can admire myself and do my work I'll be twice as happy.

It also helps to see who is watching my screen in packed lecture theaters at uni.

I won't. It's a "personal item" and I am a fully visa'd student and worker--they can't and don't tax my personal belongings coming from home. Normally they'd try to tax everything; £5 or £1000, it doesn't matter. But I'm immune, luckily. Because the VAT/import tax is effing appalling. At least coming from an American used to 6% sales tax and prices that are 20%+ lower in the first place anyway.

I remember one time he shipped me a bunch of my own clothes and marked the box as being worth $250, but forgot to write "student personal belongings". I got hit with a £50 tax/import fees bill--that's like $90! It was crazy and oh man did I have to fight them over that; get a letter from my work & university and a copy of my visa, etc...all because he didn't listen to how I told him to mark the damn box lol.

I have an Origin Scan and an Arrival Scan for Shanghai. Hoping I get more information soon!

I believe the export paperwork goes ahead of the actual item. Once the paperwork has cleared the item is then sent, hence it appears its gone twice. It saves time but it appears to look slow thats all.

Arh, that's make sense. So they clear the vat and all this stuff, so when my package come, it goes fit in and out of the ups terminal in koeln.

Btw, I have just seen that my package, is in Korea? :)

My CTO is also now "prepared for shipment"...finally. Went CTO as I wanted the high-res screen. My order time shows as 8:04 pst which was shortly after the store was brought up on Thursday a.m. allowing orders of the new Pros. Also my arrival date span changed by a day...was 3/1 - 3/8 and is now 3/1 - 3/7.

Can't wait - coming from a November '06 C2D MacBook - should be a HUGE improvement since I went with the top end 15" Pro. :D

Got the email that mine shipped this morning at 4:08am. Scheduled to arrive 3/2. I opted for the regular free Apple shipping - not expedited. Can't wait!!!

+1 Mine just changed to "Prepared for Shipment"

I ordered a cto 15" hires anti-glare screen on Thursday afternoon and then cancelled that order via phone and created another order and upgraded the hd on Friday around 7AM. I just noticed this morning (Sunday) that it is prepared for shipment. I opted for 2 day shipping, so should be receiving it sometime this coming week. I also ordered the 27" monitor, and that's scheduled to be delivered on Monday. Another indication of shipment is if your credit card has been charged, because they aren't supposed to charge your card until the item has been shipped. :)

Apple's expected arrival date is March 9.-11., while the other date has changed from 14th to 15th.. I really hope Apple's dates are correct! Want it now!

How can you see the expected arrival date is March 9 - 11 ? I can't see that when I track my order at UPS

I ordered the 15" 2.2Ghz 4MB on Thursday right after the store went back up. I got a Fedex tracking number this morning.

I'm stuck in Shanghai. Using Flightaware I don't see any flights leaving Shagnhai today!! I upgraded the shipping too.

This is my first Mac and I'm going crazy with the waiting.
