Just got one!

We have a 27" iMac, but my little Dell laptop is having problems. It saw me through law school but it's ... unhappy, shall we say. Hubby has wanted to replace our 2 Dell laptops as they go down, with macs.

So we have the big one and a 15" MBP ( and an iPad 1 and two phones--3G and 3GS).

The only problem I've had is the loss of inbox mail on the iPad a couple of weeks ago, then read here that I'm not alone on it. Looking forward to icloud to make transfers easier. I don't want everything on icloud though.

oh boy oh boy oh boy oh boy!

T-minus 18 minutes and counting until I hit the road for the closest Apple Store to purchase my precious! 13" MacBook Pro! FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :apple:

Wow! Just had my new MBP 15" delivered by FEDEX at 8:20 AM! That's 2 days ahead of the expected delivery date and it's the earliest that FEDEX has ever arrived at my house.

I've been playing with it and loading up all my Windows stuff. This is a real pleasure to use. Not any where near as difficult as I thought it would be. :) :)

Just ordered a refurb 2.2 mbp. :)
One thing I'm worried about tho is not getting the AG hi-res..would have been SWEET but just couldn't fit it in.
Any 1400x900 peeps out there that still love it!? ;)

Can't wait to get it tho. :)

Weird I just got my new 17" MBP early 2011 model refurb I ordred it with 4 gigs of ram with the anti-glare screen and what I got had 8 gigs of ram preinstalled. Should I be throwing a party for the free upgrade I got or should I take my new behemoth back to apple?

They really need to put an Apple Store in my town. that hour 20 minute drive to get this thing after working all day was brutal but OH SO WORTH IT! I am loving this! I got the 13" MacBook Pro, 2.3 GHz i5. Excellent service in the store, probably the best service I've ever gotten in an electronics store. I am so far very impressed with my experience. Now, the test will come if I have trouble and need to call since I probably won't be driving back down there anytime soon!

At the same time I purchased the MBP, I also got the Incase Protective Sleeve Plus, Apple Care, Office for Mac (unfortunately couldn't get that at the Apple Store because they only carry the 3 user packs which makes no sense, but anyway...), an my free $100 App Store card. That card plus the $100 education discount is why I drove to the store as opposed to buying it locally. Now, I just need to go to one of my local authorized stores to take an Intro class so I can learn all the ins and outs of using this thing! So far tonight I've just played a little, haven't really done anything as far as getting my stuff off my laptop and onto my new toy. I'll have to spend some time going through the Switch 101 docs and the things that are posted here. I am so happy that I found this site and VERY glad that I finally took the plunge and got this beautiful piece of technology. It's only taken me 20 years! LOL!

Just purchased a MBP 15'' 2.2GHz! Hoping it will satisfy my gaming needs as it certainly has satisfied my aesthetic needs. I chose 500 GB 7200pm over the 750 because I figured I have my external if anything so why not go for the faster drive?

Now waiting...

Just ordered a 15" 2.2 GHz with 8g of RAM, Hi-Res Glossy Display, and 7200 RPM Hard Drive. I can't wait! Should be here in the next few days!:D

well, a few posts up...you can see I bought a 13 inch mpb last week. I just brought it back and upgraded to the 15 inch. Wow, this thing is huge. Now, I have to get used to this one, because it is a gigantic difference from the 13.

Pulled the trigger and BTO a 15" Macbook Pro 2.2 Ghz, 4GB RAM (already ordered 8GB Kit off newegg), 500GB HDD 7200 RPM, and HiRes Glossy Screen. Can't wait to get it!

Cant believe I also sold my Asus G73jh for $1200..the same price I bought it for haha.

Received my first MacBook Pro yesterday :) I ordered the 15" 2.3 GHz Core i7 with the High-Res Antiglare screen and it's an amazing machine! The Antiglare option was totally worth it! I bought an 8GB RAM kit from OWC and installed that when I received the MacBook Pro, this notebook is tremendously fast. 15" is the perfect screen size for getting work done and still able to be portable. Has the standard 500GB 7200rpm HDD, eventually will upgrade the HDD to an OWC SSD one, hopefully the prices come down eventually. The whole laptop is protected in a black satin Speck SeeThru case and a Moshi Clear Guard keyboard cover. This notebook is sweet!

I ordered my 15" MacBook Pro (2011) with maxed out everything. 8GB of RAM, 2.3GHz i7 Quad-Core, 500GB HDD @ 7200RPM, Hi-Res Glossy screen and 1GB graphics card.

I'm so stoked to get this MacBook Pro, it will be my first and certainly won't be my last.

I plan on getting a case for it as well and getting a Matte screen protector.

Yes, the 15 inch does look very big for some reason. I just love the portability the 13 inch offers.. I'd even go 11 inch with the MacBook Air , if I had to.

Just ordered a 15" MBP 2.3GHz i7, 8GB Ram, 128GB SSD with Hi-Res Glossy display! My first Mac and I can't wait! :D

I was afraid of the 15" being a little too bulky. But hopefully I'll get used to it when I get one. If not, I plan on buying an iPad soon so I'll just take that around to school if anything. I need the 15" because the I have a Sony VAIO that I want to say is about a 13 or a 14 inch and editing photos is pretty annoying. I need something more of a photography friendly size. I would consider the 17" even, but that's just too big for me. Idk. I have lots of thinking to do..

I ordered mine last week, on Tuesday, and I already received my free 100$ App Store card, Really hoping my computer comes on Tuesday, as it's sooo close. Please work fast UPS ;D

ahh i remember being on a thread like this just over 2.5 years ago when i ordered my first mbp (the first gen unibody @2.8ghz / 7200rpm drive). i remember going nuts with anticipation checking my tracking number every few hours :)

happy to say i'm back for more, although i'm much more content to wait out the shipping this time around since my current laptop is still running great (if my job didn't involve so many processor intensive tasks, i'd probably be fine to stick with this one for another few years!).

so with a 15" 2.2 quad / 8gb ram (separately from newegg) / 256 ssd / hi-res screen on the way, i figured i'd ask if anyone else here made a similar jump between generations, and how they've found upgrade? i'm well acquainted with the geekbench scores, and i anticipate slightly shorter coffee breaks during video encodes, :p but i'd love to hear about the general computing experience! as i said, the system i have now still feels quite decent; so will the new system shine mostly in processor grunt-work? or is it one of those cases where you just never realized how fast other stuff could be? :D

anyway, enjoy your new purchases everyone!

17" macbook pro

I ordered 17" macbook pro off mac connection at the end of June since they had such a killer deal over 300 dollars off!

I'm using it to replace my work computer which is a super heavy 17" HP Elitebook. I'm going on my first business trip with it tomorrow morning. I'm looking forward to not having to travel with that HP boat anchor.

just ordered a 15" MBP this afternoon.. i have a question.. what is the max memory 8GB? where did you order your memory from? Thanks.. cant wait.. this will be my first mac purchase.. i have a used mac mini and ipad 2.. :)

The max memory I believe is 16GB for the latest models and Crucial offer some great prices on memory!

I've just received my refurbished 15" HR-AG and I have to say I'm completely blown away by the screen quality. Having owned 3 MBPs, 1 MacBook and having tried out a standard res 15" 2011 for a week I think I'm finally settled on this one.
