Getting Refurb 13' MBP for Bday Gift

I am waiting for my MBP 13' to be delivered today. Receiving as a birthday gift. Opted for the refurb over the brand new one hoping that it would have any bugs worked out.

Cant wait to play with it.

Refurb with Lion

I finally ordered my first Mac last night. The configuration I wanted finally showed up in the refurb section so I took the plunge. I can't wait to get my MBP! I'm an advanced PC user and look forward to learning OSX and Mac in general.

Fedex can't seem to decide on the delivery date. It keeps changing from tomorrow to Friday and back again. Right now it's Friday again. It's a bit irritating considering I paid for two day shipping and tomorrow it will have hit two days, but I guess I'll deal. As long as I get it this week.

Does anyone know how long it takes on average for it to get from Shanghai to Alaska?

Please help.
I have wanted a Mac for years and finally decided to get one cause my Dell is broken. Basically I wanted to wait for the new Macbook because I was going to buy it originally in June but didn't want to buy it cause I thought an upgrade was coming. I was so disappointed to see it has been discontinued. Now I don't know what to do? I want a Mac and was looking at the Pro, it is so expensive though (yes I know not that much more than the Macbook was but still over 1000). I saw a refurbished 13 inch pro for 979 which looks very good but I think it would probably be better to get the 13 inch new for 1200 with the student discount? What are people's opinions? Is is dodgy buying refurbished and if I do will I get a free Lion upgrade and the 75 voucher for the app store? Is it an awful idea to consider getting a refurbished Macbook for 849?it is so much cheaper.

Just bought my new 13" MacBook Pro... amazing deal @ BB!!

I waited for the specs to come out on the Air, but was relatively unimpressed, so I went back to my original plan and bought the current base 13" MBP.

I was able to get it on sale at Best Buy for $1138.99-91.12 corporate discount + 102.17 in sales tax for a grand total of $1150.04.

I think I got a relatively good deal considering the refurbs are going for $1019 plus $101.90 sales tax for a total of $1120.90.

The other pluses are that I was able to get 18 months of 0% interest on my BestBuy card and about $20 worth of Reward Zone points.

The only negative is that it STILL HAS SNOW LEOPARD AND NOT OSX LION. Does anyone think I have a chance at getting a free upgrade from Apple??

I am beyond happy with my purchase! :)

I finally received my MBP 13" unibody 2.3ghz 4gb from Fed EX at 5pm today. Setting up was really easy. Waiting to complete download of OSX Lion.

Love it, best birthday present ever.

Ordered my first mac ever today, the refurb 15'' 2.0 with the anti-glare screen, can't wait for it to arrive and start making the transition from windows to osx.

Lion is getting some pretty positive reviews, but I still hope that mine comes loaded with snow leopard so I can have both.

I'll be using the computer next year for university and I hope it will do everything I need it to, including some casual gaming. Can't wait for it to get here!

Hi, I've been a reader of MacRumors for a while but this is my first post. I've just an hour ago took delivery of my first Mac, a 13" Macbook pro i5 and currently waiting on Lion to download. I'm so excited. Can't wait to start learning OSX as I have previously always had a windows computer. :)

Just bought a low end 2011 13" refurbished MBP with 128GB SSD from Apple Hong Kong for $1199 (HKD$ 9348). That's the price for a new base 13" without a SSD. Also turned out to be the last one in stock.

Couldn't be happier. I plan to move the SSD to the optibay for system files (which is more than enough) and add a small WD scorpio blue for storage.

Received delivery of my first Mac yesterday by FedEx! Brand new 13 inch pro with upgraded memory and HD space! Also upgraded to Lion with the program and looks and works great! So much cooler than my previous Windows laptops! Can't wait to learn more as the days pass!

Got my low-end 13" i5 yesterday from the Apple Store! Planning on doing a hard drive upgrade once Apple releases this bootable Lion USB stick.

Waiting for my second 15" to show up...ordered the first three weeks ago and UPS kindly put some extra ventilation holes in the box and even personally dented the lid so I'd be able to tell it apart from all the other 15"s I have laying around in my batcave.

UPS is also delivering this one. I am not without some apprehension here. Fortunately my old 17" PowerPC G5 has decided to hang on, however tenuously, for the time being. I will say one thing, Apple does have excellent customer service.

What's up guys.

Picked up a 15 inch MBP (1gb video card). I initially went to pick up a macbook air from the Apple store, but their financing through Barclays was too shiesty. I ended up at Best Buy, and walked out with the MBP.

I'm very happy I took this route, as I tend to geek it out on electronics and squeeze every bit of performance out it. So far I've installed Parallels and am virtualizing windows 7 alongside Lion. Very impressed how the MBP manages to run both OS's without the slightest bit of lag.

I also installed Windows 7 via bootcamp, and loaded up Starcraft II, Civ V, and Crysis. Surprisingly, this thing outperforms the gaming PC I started building to top of the line specs as of late '09!

Very impressed with the MBP and am glad I took this route over the air!

Yesterday I ordered a 15" 2.2GHz i7, high-res glossy, 128GB SSD, and 4GB of RAM.

I also ordered an 8GB RAM upgrade from NewEgg to put in once the MBP arrives.
