Just got a new MBP from work: i7 2.3, 8GB, High-res antiglare screen, 750GB storage drive. I already had an OWC 120GB SSD, so I put that in the optibay.

This is my first brand new Mac. I've had an old iMac and Early 08 MBP before, but those were bought secondhand.

I picked up a 13 inch MBP (i5) yesterday to finally replace my 6 year old iMac G5. I got it at Best Buy so I could earn some reward program points (actually, they're my wife's points, but whatever) and because they price matched Microcenter's $999.99 sale price.

I might have been happier with an MBA, especially where the screen is concerned, but I plan to get an external monitor. Plus, with a baby on the way, I'm trying to be more economical. :p

It's a really, really, really nice machine. Now to get a USB flash drive to make the Lion installer disk, before I run the update... or perhaps I'll just burn it to one of the DVDs I already have.

That's awesome. I wonder if they would do it at any best buy?

Right now the base 15" is available, and most of the time it usually is. However, if you are looking for the base 15 w/the Hi-res, anti-glare screen... you'll have to catch it at the right time.

Good luck!

Go to refubtracker.com to be emailed whenever it shows up. Great little service, and of course free.

is there a huge difference with the hi-res screen ?

Just ordered this from the Apple Online store. Also used the college discount for the $100 gift card and discount.

Here are the specs:

-2.2GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7
-8GB 1333MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2x4GB
-256GB Solid State Drive
-Intel HD Graphics 3000
AMD Radeon HD 6750M with 1GB GDDR5
-SuperDrive 8x (DVD±R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW)
-MacBook Pro 15-inch Hi-Res Glossy Widescreen Display
-Backlit Keyboard (English) & User's Guide

It came out to $2,956.16 with taxes added and the discount.

I just got the tracking number today, and it should arrive by the 10th! (I got my $100 gift card in today also).

I would say pics to follow... but it will look the same as any other MBP I guess, so posting specs should do! :p

This is my first post from my new mac, and already I have a great story! So I was poking around to figure out how many battery cycles this thing has went through, and the first thing that popped up in the 'About this Mac' section was that it said my computer had 8 gb ram. At first I was like "that's a mistake, the refurb store said it would have 4". But then I doubled checked and sure enough I have 2 4gb dimms... What a way to start things off!

:) Willing to sell Amazon's 20% off laptops (incl Apple) code to someone. PM if you're interested.

I got a early 2011 MBP, and will be selling it in the next few months so I can get the refresh MBP that will be a bit lighter.... I expect it to be coming early Jan 2012 or Feb 2012....

Update just got my 15inch this screen is huge compare to my 07 macbook. now i gotta download lion
