retina?

I don't see anything here that shows it's a retina mac. Looks like it can be the new macbook pro (non-retina)

Is it me or to upgrade the ram went up in price? I could have sworn upgrading from 8 to 16 gb yesterday when i looked it was $90 now i look and its $220. Am i loosing my marbles or did anyone else notice this?

Excellent, glad they have the $3749 model in store.

It sucks they aren't carrying upgraded RAM versions of the base and upgraded tiers.

Can I order a BTO to a store? Like, if I walk in and ask for the $2799 model with 16GB of RAM can they order it to be delivered to the store? I'm trying to order it 35 minutes away in NH to avoid the $200 sales tax like I do with all of my computers, but I haven't run into this problem until now.

They had two of the upgraded models. Two other guys were in there to get the base models, but I got there first. The rep made it sound like they got in a bunch, but she said that she only had one base model. (Maybe I wasn't the first retina buyer in the store like she'd said). They are going to carry the base 2199, the upgraded 2799, and the maxed out version for 3749 in the store.

What's the upgraded 2799? 256 Flash with 16mb memory?

When it's set to the "Best for Retina", I don't feel that I have to zoom in. When it's at the highest resolution, things are pretty tiny, but still sharp. I haven't played much with that setting, but it does give you a lot of screen real estate.

Does it say what resolution it is running in the "Best for Retina" setting?

It was $200 yesterday... $180 if you ordered with student discount.

Damn I went to the San Diego Apple yesterday to pick up a base model and they didn't even have the damn thing on display. The sales girl didn't even know when they were even going to get them in.

Awesome and congrats! Can you please let us know your impressions regarding the glare of this new Retina dispaly? How is it compared to the older MBP glossy screen? Does it really feel like 75% improvement?

Thanks.

I would say that it's significantly better regarding glare. I've got the kitchen lights on above me and its not bothering me. I hadn't even noticed the glare until you mentioned it in your post. I think that Apple was able to remove one of the glass layers (or something like that). It's certainly better than my iMac. :)

Odd, but I don't see an option in Display preferences to list the available resolutions in the menu bar.

I'm not sure if they will deliver a BTO to the store or not.

I just ordered this:

15-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display
2.6GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7
16GB 1600MHz DDR3L SDRAM
512GB Flash Storage

Question

Does the laptop has any glare. 15.4 inch macbook anti glare has no glare to it
so i was wondering do you see any glare when you have lights on.
please let us know

Thank you so much for posting these! (Although, the last 3 screenshots look sort of out of focus which makes the resolution of the screen seem blurry...but, hey, thanks still!)

One important question, when the display is set to a scaled resolution ("More Space") is the scrolling in Safari and other apps "laggy"?

Some other posters have said the OS feels less snappy in the scaled resolution modes.

He replied regarding the glare about 4 posts up.

OP: Have you had time to check out the fan noise and temperature under stress?

@ Piper:
I was wondering the same thing as JS77. Does scaling it all affect the performance in any negative way (at least as far as you can see)?

Also, another question:
On a scale from 1 to Kamina-style sunglasses, how awesome does it feel to have that bad-boy in your possession?

I'm a bit conflicted about this new retina display. I love the crisp/sharpness of the display but it does feel lower resolution (text, icons, apps are all really big). There just isn't much screen real estate.

I was under the impression that in addition to the benefits of retina we'd somehow get more screen real estate at the same time without having to have it scaled. Hmmmm...need to keep playing with it a bit more.
