If you're close to an apple store, go in and buy a base model. I ordered one online, est. delivery date Aug.2-9th but walked into an apple store on Friday, bought my base retina and cancelled my online order. I think most apple stores at this point have the base models in, only order online if you are doing custom configurations.
I'm in Canada but I'm sure in the pretty much the same situation everywhere
ordered my base retina from bestbuy.com today, I knew I should have ordered it sooner. They're on a 1-2 week backorder

I know I would have but I had this massive Best buy gift card and I couldnt think of anything else to spend it on

Waited since the 12th of June. It FINALLY arrived! I had high expectations for this laptop, but i must say... It is far better than i could ever hope for! The screen itself is reason enough to buy it, so crisp, clear and vibrant. It´s a joy to use So to all of you that are waiting, it´ll take some time, but boy will you be happy when you get it!

I ordered the 2.6/16/768 on June 25th, and the shipping time still is " Jul 24 - Jul 30". I'm hoping it ships earlier, glad to see what other people's wait times were with similar options.
Just ordered myself an rMBP - 2.6/16/768. Right now I'm pretty confident that I've brought the right thing and I can't wait for it! I still feel like my mid '09 13" MBP with a C2D and integrated 9400M graphics is snappy, so I can't wait to see how powerful this beast is!

did you pick faster shipping? i ordered the same day and its telling me the 16th
rMBP base model ordered via Apple.com on June 19th.
Order went into "Preparing for Shipment" this afternoon.
2 day shipping, should be here this week I hope.
Edit: Weird, double checked the deliver date, they added almost a week. I assume this is just a glitch. Otherwise, I will be asking for my measly $15 back! lol

oh, two weeks ago, I called apple and she gave me 2 days shipping, that's the reason why it comes faster.

Picked up a base model from Best Buy 3 weeks ago, ended up returning it. Then picked up a 2nd with bigger storage... ended up returning it. Now, I have finally set my mind on the base model with 16gb upgrade. It is currently "In Transit". Should have it by this Friday.
finally got mine rMBP 2.3/16/256 ordered 18th june, arriving 5 days earlier than eta.
ssd is freaking fast, faster than my old crucial m4
the screen is fantastic, besides the resolution, I feel a bit like anti-glare, compared with my old mbp 13.3.

Was it an education discount order? I ordered a 2.3/16/256 model on June 19th and it's still processing.
I ordered mine (exactly same model as yours with education discount) June 17th and it is "still processing". I didn't pay for expedited shipping, but I would have thought that orders would be SENT in the order in which they were received, nevermind when the package actually arrives. Yet others on here who ordered afterwards have already been sent their rMBP. From what I can tell Apple's shipments are unpredictable and arguably even unfair.
8gb ram (base model) and yes an education discount.
So it seems it was the ram causing a delay.
Yesterday I ordered a rMBP 2.3/16/256 model at my local Apple Premium Reseller in Italy with edu discount!
You say, why not online? I like the guys and they're helpful and the difference is about 20euros... So who cares
Now I have to wait for about 2-3 weeks, they told me, lets hope the best...

Delivery Date got pushed back
I ordered a MBPr on June 25. The estimated delivery date got pushed back from July 20 to July 23. Now that is not a lot, but I was hoping I have the whole weekend to play around with it Oh well, let's hope they won't delay it any further. BTW, I placed the order including the expedited shipping and called Apple a couple of days later to waive the fee - it worked

I just called my local Best Buy in Saginaw, Michigan, and they had one left in stock. They held it for me and I picked it up an hour later. Home on my new rMBP.
I got the base model, and love it so far. Still transferring files over and all that, so I don't have all the programs I'll be using installed. However, Microsoft Word launches in literally less than a second. It's amazing.

ugh my best buy.com order has a 1-2 week backorder wait. I should have checked my local store but didnt have time. They dont show any in stock around here though
