Japanese status

If you guys are waiting on orders, check your local Best Buy. I just called my local Best Buy in Saginaw, Michigan, and they had one left in stock. They held it for me and I picked it up an hour later. Home on my new rMBP.

I got the base model, and love it so far. Still transferring files over and all that, so I don't have all the programs I'll be using installed. However, Microsoft Word launches in literally less than a second. It's amazing.

The same in Japan. People ordered on Jun 18-20 are now getting the one. But in Electric supermarkets, there are stocks for a baseline model.

ugh my best buy.com order has a 1-2 week backorder wait. I should have checked my local store but didnt have time. They dont show any in stock around here though

I couldn't find where to check inventory online. I was waiting for a zero interest credit card to arrive in the mail, and as soon as it did, I called Best Buy and they said they had one in stock and offered to hold it for me. An hour later, I was the proud owner. :)

MacMall Retina 16GB BTO shipped today 7-13

Retina 2.3Ghz 16GB 256GB shipped today from MacMall. They were good about matching the best deals.

I returned a base model rMBP because I decided that I wanted the 16gb version. The label with the product specs on the back of the base model's box specifically said "Retina Display", but the same label on the back of the CTO model doesn't say "retina" anywhere. Of course, I've checked out my CTO model and it is a retina MBP, but I'm curious if the CTO models typically don't say "retina" anywhere on their boxes.

First of all, thank you for a such nice topic full of infos ! :)

I had some questions about the Refurb, French one, GMT+1

My GF just ordered, or well at least tried to, a refurb MBP2011 15" i7 and she wanted to do such without a customer account, as it's said there's no need to.

I'm not with her physically right now and she's just reporting what she did, but it could have some maintenance on the refurb.

In fact, she hasn't received an email of confirmation for now (+30 mins since purchase) for the order, and she doesn't know if the account creation worked as she was answered "try again later".

ATM, I can't see any more offers in the refurb, like if it was in maintenance mode (there was really a lot of stuff, in iPads for instance), because I think it's not possible to buy all the stock at this right moment.

Do you think the order failed, as she couldn't create an account ? Because for now she didn't received any mails and she's a bit scared as it's quite a bunch of money for a first timer.

I told her to wait, as I was guessing "maintenace mode" on the refurb, and to check her junk Mails…

I'll keep the post updated !

Just bought my new Macbook pro retina base model from Apple Store New Haven Connecticut.Properly working, very nice staff and also they receive new macbook retinas everyday and there were so many high end models.Afterwards you can have a visit to the Yale Uni.'s store too :p

Ordered two 2.6/512/16's today. Got Aug. 2nd as my latest delivery date, but was told it'd probably be end of July when I get it.

Vancouver Residents --> In Stock

Hey peeps

Simply Computing in Vancouver has the base model in stock if you do not want to wait for shipping or need configuration.

Finally ordered mine once i saw shipping times dropped since I was planning to do it soon anyway. Base model with upgraded RAM. Gonna call them to check on shipping times and see about the free upgraded shipping people have gotten or free items.

A new addition

Just purchased the 13" MBP (i7) last night at Best Buy since they were all on sale. Was able to get 5% off the retail price, not to mention Reward Zone and credit card points.

This replaces my aging 12" PowerBook G4 that I purchased April 2004. It's been a good 8 years.

I will miss the matte screen and discrete graphics, but as I will be using this for web development, I guess that's not too big a loss.

As I stagger upgrades every 4 years, the desktop (2008 Mac Pro) will be replaced in 2016, and then a new lappy in 2020 (if such things exist by then).

Just picked up my 2.6, high res AG in Portland. Used the tax savings to have a great weekend here.

Decided to toss two 512GB Samsung 830s in it and of course 16GB of RAM.

Just got my first MacBook

Well, as the title says, this is my first MacBook. The only other OS X experience I have is with a 2011 iMac I owned for a few months.

Been using my Retina MBP base model for about 3 hours now. It is epic, I love it. :D

I thought I would be most impressed with the display, but while it is extremely nice I am used to the retina iPad and iPhone so it is nothing very new to me. I am actually most impressed with the chassis, speakers, and thermals. This thing is super thin considering the specs that it's packing, the speakers have no bass like all laptop speakers but they are pretty loud, don't distort, have a good midrange and are very clear - I can see why Apple were happy with them as music sounds great.

Its sooo quiet !! I have only done browsing on it and that kind of general thing, but in a normal room with someone cooking, watching TV etc, or even if your PC is on in the background.. it is essentially silent. I had to go into my bathroom with noone around and nothing else making noise, and put my ear right up to it to hear anything. I am sure when I put a game on things will crank up a bit.

Battery seems decent, been using it for 3 hours, it started on 91%, it's now on 29% and apparently has 1:50 left - thats from browsing, listening to spotify, downloading apps, 2GB of updates, downloading all my mail etc on about 60% brightness. I've only ever had the experience of using cheap sub £500 dell laptops like my sister is using right now. The differences are insane, her laptop has onboard gpu, a crappy 2 year old dual core, it's almost twice as thick.. and yet it feels hotter to the touch and the fan is far louder.

I like all the little touches too. The screen automatically dimming and brightening up, along with the keyboard, depending on your environment (Though I am aware that probably most high end laptops do this). The keyboard feel is really great, it takes a little getting used to Apples idea of a keyboard such as backspace replacing delete, and a few other small things.

It wakes up from sleep by the time your screen is half open, which is lovely. It just feels like your laptop never even powers down, and when in sleep it lasts 30 days on a full charge which seems pretty good for something of this spec. And man is this thing quick, i7 quad and very good SSD + OS X is a very fast combination - responsiveness is superb, as you would expect.

As for OS X.. well things definitely seem to have improved from a year or so ago and i'm really enjoying it.

So far, so good.

Can't be happier! I just walked into Abt and bought myself a retina 15! The best out there!

2.7ghz
16gb
768( holy cow!!)

Kinda sucked it wasn't in stock, and another guy I talked to said beginning of August for arrival, but Rob in their apple department was confident of shipments of multiple retinas tomorrow.

Macbook Pro

I ordered my MBP (Retina, 2.6, 16GB, 512) through compnow in Sydney, Australia on 16 June. Now saying it might arrive by the end of July. Does that seem like a long time???

Just ordered the base rMBP. I didn't go for the upgrades because here in South Korea the base model starts at $2890. That's taxes included but if you add ram or go for the advanced model you're really breaking the bank.

I'm switching from my 2006 Macbook White. It still works well but everything but the internet runs slow on this thing.

I was under the impression that Apple was upgrading all orders to expedited shipping free of charge, or refunding the price for the expedited shipping. Is this not correct, because Brandy at Apple seemed to disagree with me?

They also didn't offer me any free items, but I don't care about that as much.

Buying Refurb. MBP. Would like Approval. Thx.

I'm going to buy a refurb. MBP for Final Cut Pro and Photoshop applications.

It would be great if you guys could tell me if this is a good one or not.

Best Buy @ BESTBUY

Bought my MBP 15 retina display on Saturday, and I'm so thrilled, love the way my pictures look, Lightroom is awesome, phoshop 6 runs fast, safari and firefox kick major booty. Waited for almost a year and a half for this, have no regrets.

Just placed my order for this bad boy:

•
2.7GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7, Turbo Boost up to 3.7GHz
•
8GB 1600MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2x4GB
•
256GB Solid State Drive
•
SuperDrive 8x (DVD±R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW)
•
MacBook Pro 15-inch Hi-Res Antiglare Widescreen Display

I didn't get the retina even though I paid the same (I actually used the edu discount) because the thickness/weight didn't matter to me and I don't think the GPU is quite ready to push those extra pixels for heavy graphics tasks (I plan on playing some games and don't want to downscale to a non-native resolution because of the screen quality downgrade).

Either way, I think I'm going to be plenty happy with the Hi-Res since it is still an upgrade from my 2008 PRE-unibody 1440x MBP.

I'm excited, I even bought a rain stand with it.

Best Buy FTW (this time)

Bought in FL; Distribution center was in GA. Shipping carton into DC said it was XX of 48 cartons. So Apple must be delivering in quantity to Best Buy even though the website says they are on back order. You can walk in and talk to the sales guys - They can check inventory and give a good estimate when it will arrive in the store. It has your name on it - no waiting in a queue. But you have to pay up front.

$2659.99

How they get away with selling below Apple list is a mystery, but it's a nice score. + Reward Points.....

Purchased on 7/11 (to be shipped to store from distribution center). Arrived at the store on the evening of 7/16; Picked it up on 7/17

15" Retina
2.6 GHz i7
8 GB Ram
512 GB SSD

Anyone think Geek Squad Black Tie Protection is worth the $150 for first year before Applecare gets extended?

Laptop is wicked fast. Boots in under 15 seconds. Easy on the eyes display. Another Apple home run....

Best to All :D
