Bought in FL; Distribution center was in GA. Shipping carton into DC said it was XX of 48 cartons. So Apple must be delivering in quantity to Best Buy even though the website says they are on back order. You can walk in and talk to the sales guys - They can check inventory and give a good estimate when it will arrive in the store. It has your name on it - no waiting in a queue. But you have to pay up front.

$2659.99

How they get away with selling below Apple list is a mystery, but it's a nice score. + Reward Points.....

Purchased on 7/11 (to be shipped to store from distribution center). Arrived at the store on the evening of 7/16; Picked it up on 7/17

15" Retina
2.6 GHz i7
8 GB Ram
512 GB SSD

Anyone think Geek Squad Black Tie Protection is worth the $150 for first year before Applecare gets extended?

Laptop is wicked fast. Boots in under 15 seconds. Easy on the eyes display. Another Apple home run....

Best to All :D

been waiting on a base model retina from bestbuy.com for 10 days now, so either they dont have those or they arent prioritizing their site :(

Just purchased the 13" MBP (i7) last night at Best Buy since they were all on sale. Was able to get 5% off the retail price, not to mention Reward Zone and credit card points.

This replaces my aging 12" PowerBook G4 that I purchased April 2004. It's been a good 8 years.

I will miss the matte screen and discrete graphics, but as I will be using this for web development, I guess that's not too big a loss.

As I stagger upgrades every 4 years, the desktop (2008 Mac Pro) will be replaced in 2016, and then a new lappy in 2020 (if such things exist by then).

That's wonderful you have been able to use your PowerBook for that long! I hope I can do that with my Retina MacBook Pro. I have had the tenancy of upgrading every 3 to 4 years with my PC based notebooks. I am hoping to push that further with my MacBook. The only reason why I have upgraded in the past is because my PC notebooks have physically broke or burned out.

Hello Mac

And it has occurred! Today I received my work issued 2012 15" rMBP. So excited to learn and play on this little guy after years as a purely Windows Sys Admin.

You may recall my earlier thread before the rMBP announce (First World IT Problems) anyway, things (obviously) worked out in my favor after pulling some back channel strings to delay equipment ordering and fudge year end expense numbers.

I won't lie though, first stop is little snitch, then bootcamp followed by filevault2, then off to DiabloIII and lastly a plethora of new admin/mgmt apps.

Cheers all, it is for me, a happy day.

Standard MBP retina coming tomorrow. Ordered on 18th of June.
Northern Europe.

I am excited! My current mbp (2006) needs replacing. Should be good. Mostly will be used for audio music making and photography stuff.

Enjoy your new machines everyone.

Very excited, I just placed the order for my first ever mac.

Macbook pro Retina 15"
2.3ghz i7
16gb Ram
256gb ssd

Just last night, I purchased a 2010 Macbook Pro 15 from Apple's refurb website. Got the 2.8 I7 processor, 500gig hd, 4 GB ram, and the hi-res, antiglare screen powered by the 512MB nVidia graphics card. All for the wallet-busting price of $1369 plus tax. Used my Discover card and got an additional 5% off, so $1300 plus tax.

Yeah, it's not a quad-core superman processor, but throw in an extra 4 GB of ram and a cheap 7200 RPM hard drive, and I think it will be a nimble little beast of a machine. I've got 14 days to return it if I don't like it, so I'd be curious to hear what folks think about this deal. There's not a lot of info on the Internet regarding this particular Macbook with the 2.8 GHz processor. Anyone have one that can comment? Thanks.

MBP13 (Mid-2012)

I picked up the MBP13 (Mid-2012, Core-i7) yesterday, and am highly impressed with it. I swapped in an existing 256 GB SSD drive and plan on converting the 750 GB drive it originally came in as an external backup drive.

The one thing that I'm concerned about is the sound the DVD drive makes when the laptop is booted. Anyone else have the same feeling? The drive does work fine though when I slide in a DVD.

Hello all. I recently found my early 2008 MBP for a really good price, so after trying to keep the trusty PowerMac G5 2.3 DC running and up to date I gave in...I have to say I have always been pleased with my PPC Macs, but this MBP blew me away.

The specific model is a 4,1 (Early 2008) 2.5ghz with 4gb Crucial ddr2, an nvidia m8600gt gpu with 512mb vram, and I recently installed a 500gb Seagate Momentus XT SSD/HDD hybrid.

When I purchased the computer I started researching any known problems while waiting for it to arrive and I my heart dropped after discovering the whole m8600gt issue, however upon further reading it was all over the web that the affected computers were manufactured between May 2007 and September 2008 so I anxiously waited so I could find out when it was produced.

Turns out Coconut ID 3 told me it was built between Oct 13-19.
After I opened it up for the HDD install I did notice a different serial number than what system information shows, which tells me the logic board has been replaced before.

Anyways just thought I would share my story. I am using OS X Lion after being on Leopard since it's release and I really like this OS. It is not a so different from Leopard that I didn't know my way around, it just seems they added things that I always wished Leopard would do (full-screen, mail works with yahoo accounts without the yahoo upgrade, ect).

To wrap it up I love my 4 year old computer. With the new hard drive I have a boot time of 15-20 seconds, apps open almost instantly, and I can verify from Geekbench benchmarks that this computer is almost twice what my 2.3 DC G5 is and it has 14gb of ddr2 (MBP-3920, G5 2.3-2312).

BTW-if anyone is interested in a late 2005 PowerMac G5 with 14gb ram, a Western Digital VelociRaptor 150gb, Western Digital Caviar Green 1tb, ATI x1900XT 256 gddr3 vram send me a PM I will entertain offers. I do have the original nvidia video card it came with as well.

I ordered my Retina Macbook Pro on July 17. Apple is said to release Mountain Lion in the next few days. If this is true and its going to take Apple 2-3 weeks to ship out my order will Mountain Lion come preinstalled on my machine?

Got mine yesterday

2.3/16/256 Retina

This thing is so nice; I wish there was an internal spinning disc (in addition to the ssd), but I can use an external for large stuff. The display rules; not as bright as I'd like but the resolution is insane. I'm not going to run @ native resolution that often but the option to do so is wonderful; super large excel, Xcode, or multitasking tasks are going to be really nice if I have my glasses. I'm a very happy customer :)

- Not a lot of storage built in
- Pricey
- Don't like the new magsafe power connector

+ The display rules; I can do work as fast as I could with multiple monitors, and it looks very nice
+ Nice Speakers
+ FAST
+ This may last me 5 years :)

You get Mountain Lion free I think.

Ordered my 15" macbook pro non retina model. Came within 2 days. Currently very happy with it and no thoughts of returning it yet. :)

You are correct but I'm just wondering if it will come pre-installed or not.

I think that you'll have the ability to download ML from the App Store but it won't be already installed on the machine. Usually when Apple releases a new operating system, it takes a few weeks after release before machines are "pre-equipped" with the new OS. This is probably due to the fact that machines built after the OS is released are still being distributed. The new batches with ML will have to wait.

Oh and, I finally ordered my Retina MBP last night! The anticipation grows....

I've finally ordered a rMBP 2.6,16,512 can't want to lay my hand's on it!!

this is my first Mac and i'm so excited!! :D

expecting delivery sometime around (2nd to 9th of August)

2.6GHz quad-core Intel Core i7
Turbo Boost up to 3.6GHz
8GB 1600MHz memory
750GB 5400-rpm hard drive1
Intel HD Graphics 4000
NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M with 1GB of GDDR5 memory

got to say its a fantastic bit of kit. i have call of duty 4 running at full tilt and it plays and looks fantastic.:)

mine arrived on friday but I was in New York for a business trip so I got my mom to spend the day over at my place just to sign the FedEx package :p I ordered the retina base model and when I played with it in store I wasn't blown away but now I really am, what a screen, the performance is fantastic, really loved it, kudos to apple

I just picked up a Retina MBP today, and I am loving it! I have used one in the Apple Store (even compared the screen to my 2011 MBP side-by-side), and it's definitely better for photo editing, among other things. The speakers are also better than I expected, and a clear improvement over my 2011 MBP. I just got the 2.3/8/256 model, mainly because I'm going to store most of my data on an external (portable) Thunderbolt HDD.

Just received my new MBP 2012

When is Mountian Lion coming ... LOL :p:p:D:D

No seriously, im swapping out the hd for an ssd and will install Lion, my guess is if I do it tonight ML will come out tomorrow. :) From a fresh format with Lion if in a couple of days ML comes out and I install over the top it's not any difference from a totally clean install is it?

Cheers guys.

I'm in the same boat -- I have an early 2011 MBP with Optibay storage/ 16 GB RAM, so I've opted for the base rMBP. Purchased one brand new on eBay last night for $2,120!

just got mine a week ago and love it so far. The i7 is quite a jump from the Core2Duo!
