bought my basic retina model today. i was wondering how much resale value would this computer have after 2-3 years. i bought it for 2,200 dollars and i was wondering if it wud still cost 1,200 after a few years or so. thoughts?

You'll be fine. I sell mines every year, just recently sold my MBA 2011 (used for 12 months) and made a slight profit on it
. Depending on how 'good' the condition is, you'll get good money for it. The key is to sell it at the right time with plenty of good images and a video as a bonus (unique selling point). Hope that helps.

lmao u really get new macs every year? u must be a great salesman. i recently sold my macbook pro from 3 years ago for 550 dollars and it was in good condition too. just hope i can get at least a 1000-1200 for this in a year or two. what protection do u use on ur macbooks? cases, skins, etc.

Ah same amigo! Mine has to merge at GB (In Ireland). Student giftcard too. Hope it comes by friday or at least Monday. As of last night, currently computerless. Got 10% off rather than the usual 5%

Tracking info showed that my rMBP got into the Chicagoland area this morning (a day early). Thought they would hold it and deliver tomorrow but, lo-and-behold, they attempted to drop it off today. No one could sign and now I have to wait until 8PM to pick it up from my local FedEx. Super happy that it's a day early, but super anxious 'cause I have to wait.
Mines still not loading. I dislike the use of syncreon, they seem pretty amateur. They are supposed to be shipping me my case from Apple too, however its been out for delivery twice now and hasn't reached me, it just keeps going back to the depot:S
I believe UPS will be delivering though. My page says "For items that merge in transit, we are unable to provide tracking info for up to 48 hrs." so starting tomorrow I should have some viable info!
....In fact if tomorrow I get the tracking info and it will be done in GB = England. Cross fingers for Friday! "Merge in Transit GB"
Picked up my MBPr tonight at the Apple Store in Ridgedale Mall. Thing is a wonderful machine. Spent tonight installing CS6 Production Suite and FCPX, and a little web surfing.

Alright, time for me to enjoy! I have a 10yr old PowerMac G4 Mirror Door Drive CPU, and I have been waiting for a new iMac to come out. After doing some heavy thinking, it just made sense for me to get a RMBP. I don't need a huge amount a space(only using "maybe" 80GB on my Mac), and portability will be a big deal for me.
Tuesday, I purchased the 2.3GHz model with 16GB of RAM and it should arrive next week! I can't wait to feel/see the difference!
Just for kicks, I looked at archived Geekbench results, and my current machine gets a 751! Lol!

Ordered mine Sunday and got the expedited shipping. This gave it a delivery range of Aug 31-Sept 4. I ended up having debit card problems Monday night: limit wasn't high enough. That was sorted out Tuesday afternoon. Apple got authorization for my card and ran it through Tuesday evening (the 28th). The MBP shipped out around 11pm my time from Shanghai. Made it halfway-ish around the world and to my mother's place of employment around 1130 this morning. Now I just have to wait until class is over for the week so I can go home and get it. The specs are in my sig. I'll definitely be upgrading the RAM to 8 gigs and the HDD to a 256 gig SSD. Hopefully within the month.
Needless to say, I'm quite impressed with my first Apple purchase directly from Apple.

It is because it's being merged and so there is no carrier information. You could try and guess if you wanted! The writing on the left just below the estimate delivery date is the only information you can have at the moment. Mine currently says: In Transit to Customer - Shipment on Schedule. I dont have any carrier info though

Mine just changed to "In Transit to Customer - Shipment on Schedule" also. Looks like its going to take a while. This thing better be flawless
