I was thinking the same but then I realised I want to treat myself to a high-end laptop for once, and having a discrete GPU + QC processor is a pretty awesome upgrade itself. Coming from the base 13", and before that just a run-of-the-mill HP laptop and Desktop. Can't wait for it to arrive. Should be a masterpiece that will last many years!

I'm so excited!! I wish they kept custom builds in stock in the retail stores, then I might've already had mine haha :p

Seen a couple posts on this. Great deal for people not needing this years model.

I saw that deal at MicroCenter as well. Although, I went with the 1399.99 Late 2011 macbook pro 15" with the 4GB ram, 500GB HD and i7 (2 weeks ago). Then I got an email about the updated sales and they lowered the price to 1299.99. Called them up and they credited my card back $108. An extra 48.00 for the 8GB ram upgrade and I think I got a really good deal on a brand new laptop as a refurb from apple was a little more.

I'll have to check after the 1st retina refresh to see their deals and maybe give this one to the GF.

I'm in love with my new rMBP.

I was sooo tempted to pick up the rMBP but in the end I just couldn't justify that much of a price increase for the screen and stock SSD from the regular pro...Maybe next year.

Well, my rMBP 2.6/16/512 arrived earlier today and oh my god this is a really beautiful machine, it's so fast and fluid and it's just a joy to work on! Atm I'm just getting it up to scratch with apps (free thanks to that student gift card) and just putting on the games I got from the humble bundle a while back. But mann I'm really pleased with this machine, here's hoping it serves me well for the next few years!

Also so far despite all I've read on the forums, no problems whatsoever!

I ordered a rMBP 2.6/16/512 model on the 13th and it is still currently processing my order as of today, the 17th. Can't wait for it to arrive late next week!! I've been reading how it has been arriving earlier than expected (some by 3 days) for the some people this past week so I'm really hoping I get a nice surprise sometime in the middle of next week instead of the next friday.

I have the 2.6 GHz/16/512 rMBP, and I love it. I also have one with the Samsung screen, which seems to be a bonus from lurking on here for a while.

I am a no0b to the MBP world, as this is my first once. Decided to give Apple a try, and can't say that I'm disappointed in the least. No buyers remorse here after chucking out thousands for this beautiful display.

Anyone download Mountain Lion yet? The reviews on the App page seem to be mostly negative, so I have been holding out since there's nothing wrong with my Mac.

Any advice on 'Must have Apps'?

Hey Everyone,

I went to the Apple store today to buy a new 15in. rMBP!! I received store credit for returning my iMac originally (had freeze issues). Here's to hoping everything will turn out great with this amazing machine. So far so good!

CHEERS!!

I ordered a MBP 15inch 2.3 with the high res glossy screen upgrade yesterday from Apple (UK). Delivery estimate is 29-30 August which seems ages away!

Wish I could just go to a shop and buy it but then I wouldn't get the free 3 years included student Applecare (UK only), so it's worth waiting.

The Apple order page says it will come the 22nd (Wednesday) What are the chances it will come Monday or Tuesday?

The only reason I'm asking is that I know a few people have been receiving their rMBP earlier than the estimated date.

Thanks in advance.

What does your tracking page say? Check through FedEx or UPS, whichever yours got shipped through.

Just received rMBP (2.3/16/256) and...

It's a Samsung screen with no issues that I can see thus far. It's purely amazing. I had a Base rMBP (2.3/8/256) with LG screen which was also amazing with no issues at all on the screen. I wanted 16GB Ram originally so I had to place an order and wait :(

My rMBP just hit over 12k in GEEKBENCH, I was in awe. This thing is stupid fast. I'm so excited to have such an amazing computer.

Received my MacBook Pro with Retina Display LOVE LOVE LOVE!

I received my Retina MacBook Pro. Due to all the scroll lagging, LG vs Samsung display, cosmetic damage issues, etc. I was so nervous. I'm happy to report that this machine is perfect.

Even though I have an LG display it is perfect. I even read here that retinas in general were less bright. I don't see how. in fact, the default setting hurt my eyes and I had to lower it.

Also, no scroll lagging. I was concerned about that because some of the ones i tested at Apple Stores were lagging. Not mine!

So, when it comes down to it I'm so happy with my first Mac. My worries of having to return for replacement are gone.

Still getting used to using a laptop for the first time as well. I was thinking i'd have to get a mouse or separate trackpad since it larger. But i'm finding since this one is glass unlike PC laptops they are not needed. The glass lets my fingers flow so smoothly.

Being new to Mac OS I'll have some questions. Guess I'll be doing a lot of posting questions this week. lol.

Anyway, thank you so much everyone for your help in choosing this magic machine all these months.

So I just received mine, unfortunately I got an LG screen and while I wasn't particularly worried which screen I would get, Im pretty tempted to return it.

I swear I saw some IR after using Safari for about 20 minutes and the fact that people are saying the Samsung screen looks better in general makes it all the more tempting.

I cant hold off buying one because I start back up at school in the next few weeks. :(

Anyone care to share their opinion on this matter?

Thanks in advance.

Just got my 2.6/16/512 rMBP

The bottom has a dime sized dent in it

Is it a Samsung or LG out of interest?

Hey i just got my new MacBook Pro Retina today! I love it so far and everything is perfect although I've only been using it for about 2 hours. I do have one quick question. I looked it up but was unsure. How do you check if your display manufacturer is either Samsung or LG? If you could help me out that would be great!

Great to hear another satisfied rMBP customer. I received my third unit as well today. This time around I received a flawless system with a Samsung display.

Prior to this one, I had the base model ones. Figured might as well upgrade the ram and processor to keep me happy for the years to come.

Looks like we are both going to be up late tonight.

Quick question, did you have to pay for the 64 bit version of Geekbench?
