The lift on Apple Store employee rMBP orders has been pulled.

Apple store retail employees can now get the rMBP at discounted price. I just ordered mine, my friend works as a FRS and got me a very good price. :D

If you know somebody who works at an Apple store and haven't ordered yet, it's time to be kind to him :p.

I got my Macbook Pro Retina today.

It's snappy, it does lag sometimes as we all know, asides from that I'm VERY happy with this purchase so far. I can't even describe how amazing the screen looks.

Ended up returning the cMBP.

Ordered a rMBP 2.7/16GB/512GB today. $2668.52 was the final price. Feel pretty good about this one.

MacBook Pro RETINA arrived with FAULT !

Am I the only one whose Macbook Pro has a rattling/buzzing/crackling sound from the left speaker area?

I've only had it for a week. It's sometimes noticeable even at medium volumes. It will rattle/buzz to the tune of the music.

Dont know if it's a minor thing I should live with or go to the reseller since it's within 14 days of purchase. I understand that most laptop speakers are too weak to handle music at high volumes. Dont know if it is exacerbated by the FLAC file format.

Anyone finds this unacceptable?

Yes, I have found it unacceptable. 2300 Euros laptop arrived with the same faulty left side speaker yesterday. Crackling, buzzing, completely distorted sound on left side. I have returned it straight away back to Amazon UK. It looks like Apple's random quality checks are not sufficient. Top end products shouldn't be allowed to consumer in such condition. If you buy a new Mercedes or Porsche...surely you want everything to work from day one. It wasn't the case with this Macbook Retina which appears to be a great design inside out, only if assembled properly ?

I shall give one more try and order once more the same MacBook Pro Retina 15'' 256GB SDD. If the problem reappears at the beginning or within 12 months I shall request replacement again. I have done it with an iMac 5 years ago when it died in the 5th week of use.

I hope Apple will promptly investigate and eliminate this faulty speaker issue in Macbook Pro Retina!

One more thing this issue hasn't got anything to do with audio format you play ie. FLAC, AIFF. It's a most likely hardware fault. Apple's tech support don't know how to deal with the problem either.
I will report it again if the issue remains.

Just bought a new 15" rMBP with the 2.6GHz, 16GB of RAM, and opted for just 256GB of SSD space.

No confirmation email yet, but I'm not worried.

Also, some strange charges on my card, got a $100 charge and another $15 charge. I'm thinking the $100 charge is for the back-to-school card that they will refund later, and the $15 is for the upgraded shipping I ordered. Haven't been charged for the laptop, yet.

Anyways I'm excited to get it! Delivery is August 23-27.

$100 is for the gift card, not refunded. $100 is subtracted from the price of the machine.

Yippie, my rMBP (2.6/8/256) is on it's way! Never owned a mac notebook before.. Hope I'll get one without defects ;) Still wondering if I should've gotten the RAM upgrade, but I think I'll be fine. Got the 2.6 because it was a cheap extra 300MHz.

Also got the Tucano Microfiber sleeve for it, think it looks great.

And I even think an old crappy Vista-driven Fujitsu laptop from 2008 is decent to use, how good isn't a top of the line MBP gonna be then? :)

It'll be replacing my old mid 2007 iMac (2.4 c2d/4/320/hd2400). Mac2sell claims it's still worth 540€! Resell value for macs is great.

Sorry for the crudity of this post, typing on a N9..

Picked this up yesterday afternoon.

http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0395764

Late 2011 model, so no IB or USB 3.0, but none of that was of too high importance to me, especially when you factor what you're getting for your $$ at Microcenter. The cheapest similarly put together model in the refurb store is $1829, and that's with the 5400 RPM HDD.

If you are in the market and have a Microcenter nearby I high recommend jumping on this deal.

Seen a couple posts on this. Great deal for people not needing this years model.

My first Macbook Pro was delivered today and I can already tell by running a few apps that this is the most powerful machine I've ever owned! I'm glad I went with the refurb to save some cash it looks like a brand new computer.

Which Refurb?

Hi all,

Didn't think this deserved its own thread so thought I'd post here. My wife is back in school doing arch/design, and has a 2.0 15" MBP refurb from last year with 256 VRAM. Thought I'd check the refurb (Canada) site to see if I could get a decent deal on 1GB VRAM MBP.

I'm interested in three that are all around the same price, or at least within $100. What is your opinion on these refurb rates (see below)? How would you rate the perks on each (i.e. anti glare>small SSD>2.5GHZ?). If we replace hers I'll also take over her old one to replace my 2008 white macbook, so there is some added value there.

We could wait if these aren't worth the hassle...I'm capable of upgrading my own RAM and HDD if that matters.

Thanks!

Do you live near a Microcenter? If so you should check out the deal in the link I listed a couple of posts up.

The glossy vs AG debate is very subjective. Personally....I prefer the AG. Best bet is to roll into an Apple Store and compare the two.

Hi guys, I just ordered the baseline rMBP on Sunday morning, but I opted for the RAM upgrade. My old MBP dutifully served me since July 2008, but it's been getting slow, not without a stellar, squeaky clean service record (a huge reason why I'm buying another Pro).

Ordered a 2.6/512GB/16GB RAM rMBP on the 8th. It shipped yesterday night via FedEx expedited and shall arrive on Friday.

Original estimated arrival date from Apple was 21-22 August. Apple once again "surprises and delights".

I just ordered a rMBP 2.3/16/256 (not in the big dogs league but it's all I need)
I was debating on whether or not a 13" would be released but decided the 15" would be nicer and equally as portable as my current 13" MB :D

I was thinking the same but then I realised I want to treat myself to a high-end laptop for once, and having a discrete GPU + QC processor is a pretty awesome upgrade itself. Coming from the base 13", and before that just a run-of-the-mill HP laptop and Desktop. Can't wait for it to arrive. Should be a masterpiece that will last many years!
