Oh yeah, as we speak I'm using the Air to download a fresh copy of Mountain Lion 10.8.3 from the App Store. I'll use the InstallESD from that to create a USB installer and do a clean install of ML on both the Air and Pro.

----------

Sorry. I didnt notice your quote. It turns out the rMBP I bought, was not open-box, it has just went to clearance. All of the box plastics and plastics around the rMBP were still intact.

Don't waste your time downloading the ML with the Air. The rMBP use a special copy of ML and the only way to get it is to do the internet recovery and re-install that way. It won't boot up with the copy you are downloading on your Air.

Thanks everyone. The install worked from the USB. It was a fresh download of Mountain Lion str8 from the App Store.

Since the 2012 MacBook Pro with Retina Display was released with Mac OS X 10.7 Lion, it is perfectly acceptable to download OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion via the Mac App Store (MAS) from any Mac with access to it, as the current version (10.8.3) has drivers for all 2012 Macs.

Weird. Why on my 13 inch retina pro I can't use my USB drive to boot ML? Shows a folder with a line through it. But the same drive has worked for 3+ other macs (none retina)

What model do you have then (2012 or 2013) and what OS X version is on that USB flash storage thumb drive? It should be 10.8.3 at least.

Just ordered the 13" rMBP refurb

13.3-inch (diagonal) Retina display; 2560-by-1600 resolution at 227 pixels per inch
8GB of 1600MHz DDR3L SDRAM
768GB Flash Storage
720p FaceTime HD Camera
Intel HD Graphics 4000

It'll be my main laptop so I wanted the 768GB. I can retire my 09 MBP to the bedroom now.

Just ordered a MBPr 15" 8GB 256GB refurb will have it tomorrow. Was going to get a new 13" but the 15" refurb was only $150 more.

Here's hoping it is a good one.

Just got my 15" MBPr 2.7/16/512, upgraded from a 2009 13" MBP, it's stunning.

Was always holding back due to the widely overly reported issues, the latest OSX update seems to have dealt with a lot of these so just left the lottery with the screens, got lucky and got a Samsung which looks pretty perfect to me.

My rMacPro 13.3 arrived safe and sound and in pristine condition. Not a mark or dead pixels. Ordered Friday night, shipped on Monday and arrived on Wednesday. Sending this from said unit through AT&T LTE connected iPad. Wow!!!

Just picked up my 15" 8GB/256GB rMBP yesterday for 10% + $70 off RRP.

It's certainly the prettiest laptop I have ever had :D. Not used OSX for about 6 years so need to catch up with best software/utilities to install.

Received my new RMBP 15 inch(2.8GHZ, 16GB, 512GB) earlier this week. First time owning any type of Mac, still getting comfortable with it.

Really nice laptop overall, will need some more time with it to determine if it was worth the price :apple:

Nice! How'd you manage the discount? Is it refurbished?

Placed my order for a maxed out macbook pro retina 2.8/16gb/768!

Super excited, especially in coming from an 11" air. Anyone know how long it typically takes to be built and ship to an apple store?

They should have given you a delivery estimate. Its been running one to two weeks for BTOs. Takes about 3-5 business days to roll of the production line, and then 3-4 business days to ship from Shanghai though Anchorage to the hub in Memphis and to the store. It will likely be sitting somewhere over a weekend.

Thanks, they did give me one of april 8th, but said over the phone that it'll likely come earlier as the store orders are "expedited." Either way, nothing that I can do about that, just wondering.

Upgrading my work machine from an 07 Mac Pro to a new 15" MacBook Pro 2.3ghz 8GB. Excited to add it to my collection next week:D

Recieved my retina macbook pro for work this week. Fantasic machine, 512 gb ssd, 16 gb ram, i7. I love it, my old work comp was a dell laptop from 2007. Slow as hell. Happy!! :D

Allow me to gloat for a moment!

Please forgive my gloating... :D

I just got a fully loaded (2.8ghz, 16GB RAM, 768 SSD, 8MB Cache), $3690 Retina MacBook Pro for $2500 cash.

I've been looking online through Craigslist and Ebay for a deal on a Macbook Pro for weeks. I ALMOST bought this refurbished one weeks ago when it was available: http://store.apple.com/us/product/G...-27ghz-quad-core-intel-i7-with-retina-display

It's totally legit. The lady was given this computer by her extended family. It was beyond the return date and she just wanted cash for it! I am pumped.

Not a refurb but I got a Mid 2012 rMBP 15in 2.3 I7 256GB that was a display model from Best Buy for $1280.00 a few days ago. It's basically perfect. It had 47 battery cycles on it and if I didn't know any better I would have thought it was straight outta the box. They had it marked down and the "Apple Manager" gave me another 35% to 40% off.

Box had the 2.5 i5 on the sticker as I ordered. Powered it up and it's a 2.9 i7. Woo!
