The current 15'' lineup is still at introductory prices though correct? if that is the case then assumingly the new hasswell 15" would replace the current ones, at the current price. So there would (assume) be no hike in price.

Yeah that's very true about the price, but you can buy a base 15" rMBP refurbished directly from Apple for $1,599 and that's a steal.

Refurb rMBP for $1599 back in the store as of 12:30 EST

FINALLY bit the bullet and got one... at least i have a few weeks to wrestle with buyers remorse

Make me feel better folks! Hell of a deal right... right?!

Looking at a 15" rMBP in the UK store 2.7/16/512 at £1950.00.

When Haswell ones are out how much do Apple drop the last gen model down in the refub store

Honestly I have no idea if and by how much they lower the refurb prices when new models are released. I see 2011 MBPs in there for 25% off at $1,499.

You would think the 2011 model would be cheaper since for only $100 more you could get a 2012 15" rMBP.

It is a hell of a deal! :D

I picked one up this morning as well when they hit the refurb store. I figure if something amazing comes of Haswell I can sell this one for close to what I paid for it. In addition to the great refurb price I get 5% cashback for using my Discover card so I don't think I will lose much money even if I decide to sell and upgrade in the next few months.

I hope you enjoy your new rMBP!

Congrats you two! Waiting a couple more weeks to order mine. You guys getting shipped to home or picking up at the store. Any idea on the estimated day of delivery yet?

Thanks!

Mine has already moved to "Preparing for Shipment" status, with a estimated delivery date of July 23-July 29 from Apple. I will keep you posted when it moves to "Shipped" status and let you know what the Fedex tracking info says for a delivery date!

I ordered a Refurbished 15" 256GB 8gb retina today at 1:00 PM est.

My estimated delivery date is July 23-27. :D

500 off the new price is a killer deal. These haswells aren't gonna be a big enough deal to pass up on a 1,599$ Refurb.

Now which of us that ordered the refurbs today will get a Samsung screen? :D

Mine just shipped...due for delivery Monday 7/22!!! I'm impressed that it shipped the same day I bought it, but I did buy it pretty much right when they put them on the refurb store this morning.

Man, I'm getting anxious seeing all you guys ordering refurbs. I'm trying to hold off until the early 2013's show up. Will I be really gaining anything by waiting?

I tend to agree with a lot of others on the forum. If you want a 13" I would wait, as the upgrade might be more significant. On the other hand, the 15" I don't think will be a huge upgrade in terms of performance. So if you want a 15" and don't care about having 2 hours extra battery life, I'd pick one up now. I debated this for a month or so now since WWDC and decided to go ahead today.

I also think if you get a base 15" refurb rMBP you can sell it for close to cost if you want to upgrade when the new Haswell machines come out. That is my plan if Haswell offers some surprises that I'm interested in.

Agree. I'm looking at the base 15in retina on the refurb store. My only reason to wait any further I suppose is once the haswell models are released the current gen (the ones that got the speed bump earlier this year) will be listed in the refurb store.

When they come out with haswell the base model is going to be 2,400 or 2,200. IMO thats too much money. Thats also the reason why i bought the base refurbished, its the best deal. I dont think the haswell will be much more powerful than the current gen ivy bridge. It'll probably be 5% more powerful. If i were you and needed this laptop soon i'd get this refurb.

While true, it won't be that great of a deal. You can likely expect the "current" 2.4s to sell for the same price the now-"previous" 2.3s sell for ($1599). Given that the difference between the two is nearly imperceptible, I'd have no problem pulling the trigger on a 2.3 today. (And, in fact, that's exactly what I did a couple weeks ago.)

Just picked up an open box 15" Macbook Pro Retina 2.6ghz quad 512gb sad, 8gb ram from Microcenter for $1700. Looks to be basically new, battery cycles shows 5 and everything appears flawless. Was it a good deal? I have a 15 day return window on it.

Um, that is a great deal! Nice find.

You've got me nearly convinced :D

Just ordered a 15-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display, 8GB RAM, 512GB flash storage. Upgrading from an 11-inch MacBook Air (Mid 2011). Can't wait!

Ordered my 15" refurb on 7/18 and received it today. I am quite happy with it. Although i do have an LG SJA2 display, I have the faster samsung SSD. The display seems to have no Image retention. :D

Damn you! Mine is still in Indianapolis for delivery Monday. :(

Enjoy it!!!

Funny story, woke up this morning and went to check my tracking.. They re scheduled me for delivery on tuesday! So for like an hour i was all pissed off knowing my computer was 15 min away from me and not being able to pick it up cause of apples signature policy.. Well I checked the tracking an hour later and it was on truck for delivery! Got it around 10:45

-Also, My unit had 1 Battery cycle on it!! Brand new!

I ordered a 15.4" rMBP on Thursday, I had been checking the refurb store for a good week or so. As soon as it showed up in stock I bought it! I mainly got it because the price difference between the refurb rMBP and the Air with 8GBs RAM and 256GB SSD wasn't much and I didn't mind the trade between battery life/weight and power.

Your purchase makes almost too much sense. Throw in the Retina display, 650M and standard 1 year warranty on the refurb and it's not even close.

You're getting the most out of your Apple bucks for sure. Good call.

Good, because I think I'm right. :) Right now, I'd probably wait until Wednesday to order, just in case there's a surprise on the earnings call. But beyond that, I'd have no problem pulling the trigger. Even if Haswells came out, say, the first week of August, I think you'll still be in pretty good shape with respect to resale value.

Just ordered a new 13" 2.5GHz rMBP with 256GB SSD for $A1299 inc GST ($US1073+10% tax).

I was going to wait for Haswell (with PCIe SSD, 802.11ac and better graphics), but this deal was far too good to pass up.

It'll be a substantial boost in performance from my late 2010 MBA...
