Best Buy has the base rMBP 13" listed for $1419 plus if you sign up for their student coupons you get an additional $100 off coupon, so $1319 + tax for a new rMBP 13" base model. I'm thinking about picking one up tomorrow. Tired of waiting for Haswell and school starts in 2 weeks for me.

If you're near a Microcenter then Best Buy should price match[1] to $1349 and then you should be able to use the College savings on top of that to bring it down to $1249 before tax.

Any idea on when the early 2013 15" rMBP will be hitting the refurb site? Think I'd have to wait until a Haswell refresh to see those on the refurb site?
I'm not really in any immediate hurry to purchase. I'm looking at the base 15rMBP 8gig/256ssd.

Now that Apple's BTS is going on, I'm pretty sure you can get another $100 off (well $100 best buy gift card) on top of the savings

That might be worth a try as well. I called BB customer service but Micro Center is not within 25 miles of my home so I couldn't get the price match. Wish I would have asked about the gift card. Guess I will call them back.

Well I called BB back and they said they do not match gift card offers, so no beuno. Oh well. $1319 is still a kick ass price imo.

Well I pulled the trigger and picked up a base 13" rMBP from BB. Got it home last night and realized I have no idea how to use OSX haha so I need to do some learning. Liking it so far though.

at last. i have decided to get my new mbp 2.7

love the retina and i can say performance wise is soo good. no need to wait for haswell..

I've already posted this in other threads, but my wife and I bought a 13" rMBP with i5 and 256GB at the Apple Store. We used my son's student ID, and got a $100 iTunes GC and another $100 off the price. The retina screen is fantastic, and using OS X for the first time seemed easier than Windows to me. We have iPads and iPods, but this is our first Mac computer.

Refurbished 15.4-inch MacBook Pro 2.3GHz Quad-core Intel i7 with Retina Display. Just ordered it for 1730 with tax.. Was it worth it?

What is the disk and ram size?
Is this a 2012 or early 2013 release? I would keep away from 2012 models...

may i ask why 2012 models are worse than 2013?
isn't 2012 and early 2013 rMBP model are same model just with 0.1 GHZ CPU bump?

or there are some other differences?

such as 2012 models have v1 LG panel that suffers with IR

Just ordered my first MBP today. Will be here in about a week or so.
13" mid 2012 model 4gb and 500GB HDD for around $1100 which is a bargain here as most of them are still at 1450$ new.

Have 8GB ram and a SSD waiting for it to arrive. Excited to try out Mac OS on "my" unit for once.

To all the people that ordered the 2012 rMBP 15" from the refurb store, is anyone getting the early 2013 version with the 2.4ghz processor?

I've read somewhere that people are receiving the early 2013 model even though it says "originally released June 2012" on the page. Or is it a luck of the draw type of thing?

I've gotten two of them over the past week and a half. Both showed up as advertised.

Does anyone know where refurbs ship from? I've just bought a refurb rMBP which is currently in the Prepared for Shipment stage, and the estimated delivery is tomorrow, in Melbourne, Australia.

Edit: Just shipped from Sydney. Refurb stores are separate I guess, with different stock and all, so it makes sense that they're based regionally.

I got one last week. It was a 2.3 as it was supposed to be.

Argghhhh I had one of the 15" Retina refurbs in my cart last night but I hesitated...

Now its out of stock!!

Anyone know how often these have been popping up in the store? Worth checking back every couple of hours, or will it be a few days/weeks before a new batch shows up in stock?

Also, should I expect scratches and wear on it or is it basically as good as new?

When I ordered mine, it came without any scratches!
The battery cycles has only 2!
Unfortunately, I had to return it due to some problems.

no scratches and 2 cycles sounds really nice...
what were the problems though??? (or was it personal/finance related)

can I expect this thing to basically look and feel brand new? $1600 is a lot to spend on a used laptop if its you know used

----------

anyone know if the 15 Retina currently in refurb are the LG or Samsung screens?

and/or

anyone know about Apple replacing the screen/unit on a refurb if or when the problems arise with the LG screens?

There's some refurbished 15" rMBPs available right now as of 12:38 Pacific Time.

I'd recommend checking once a day as it will change day to day.

Does anyone know how accurate their shipping transit time is?

If I place an order today, it will be available for in store pick up on July 26.

I am wondering because I will be placing an order online and having it shipped to a store in the city I will be visiting. I will have a 4 day window to pick up my package. I was told by customer service rep that they will hold it for up to 7 days. So I'm trying to time my order to ensure it will be there when I'm in town.
