Thanks for the advice...
If I decided to get a replacement instead of re-purchase it, I'm going to wait until it passes 14 day policy.

I think maybe i'm going to re-purchase a brand new (not refurbished) then.
:(

Not sure if that 14 day window re-starts on a replacement or not. Best to call in and ask on that.

Just to follow up.....

They ended up not having my model in stock (base 15"/2.3/8/256). Rep spent a good bit of time trying to get me something else, but they really don't have much of anything comparable in stock now. So she set me up with a return label and a note on my account so that when I re-order after they get some more stock I'll get a $150 discount on the purchase.

Typical Apple customer service.

Thanks for the info.
I want to get a replacement but I'm afraid that I'm going to get other problems that are serious than the ticking noise in the new replacement though.

I don't have any problem with screen (for now) so I don't want to risk myself for a new replacement with (maybe) a screen issue.

I'm in the same boat. I got my refurb 2012 15" rMBP yesterday. Everything is perfect except for the c key. The right side of the key is sticking and harder to press down. I was happy to get a Samsung screen after reading about the screen issues on here, so I think I'll just take it to the Apple Store. It seems that it should be an easy and quick fix, I hope. *fingers crossed*

I decided not to wait for the Haswell edition and so, I ordered my first MBP (13", i5, 512GB, 8GB RAM) yesterday, delivery is expected on July 2nd to July 4th.

Yeah.. I wish I can take my macbook pro to apple store. However, the closest apple store is 3 hrs away :(

I'm going to get a replacement. Hopefully everything works perfectly this time.

Just bought my brand new rMBP. 15" core i7 2.7 ghz, 512gb SSD and 16GB of RAM for 1700$ from a seller on ebay. Went directly through paypal so ebay doesn't take a percentage and so I got it mad cheap. Figured with this deal I have to take it and if Haswell is really THAT good I can sell this one used for a profit probably and put it towards the new one :D

Agreed 100 percent. If a refresh was 6 months away, I'd just buy now. Even with my main laptop biting the dust last week, I'm doing my best to wait. I really think we will see the new rMBPs out in July.

The problem that I have with this is that not everybody needs to have the very latest tech. I just bought my rMBP 15'' on Monday, but for photo and video editing... my 2.7ghz proc, 16gigs of ram, and 512 ssd will keep me running for the 3 years of my apple care, and I still should get a few hundered on resale at that point of time. I would have seen ZERO improvement from the current ivy bridge to haswell should I have waited for whenever it does come out. This whole thing is really subjective to what the individual needs.

Unless there's a complete redesign or they're adding revolutionary new hardware, I really don't think it's a big deal for people to buy now instead of a month or whenever the refresh hits. The current lineup certainly wouldn't become any less of a performer just because something new comes out.... my rMBP will still be a beast of a device in a month or two whenever the new refresh comes out.

Well it's not really about having the latest tech. I've been waiting specifically for the Haswell rMBP to come out before buying a Mac again, which I do not have one right now. I'm not about to buy the model that is out now.

To each their own. It's not really about performance upgrades, it is the other things that matter to me.

What about a haswell mbp is going to make it stand out from that of an ivy bridge?

Haswell itself? Just battery life. But I'm not interested in the 15-inch, I'm talking about the 13-inch here. For me it is worth the wait, and I would absolutely be kicking myself if I bought now and the Haswell rMBP came out within a month.

You don't see the need for it, which is fine. But plenty of others do, and that's why they have chosen the waiting game.

For the 13"....I agree its a no brainer. Battery should be improved and the GPU will be as well.

For the 15" though.....I probably wouldn't wait if there was any sort of pressing need.

Just got a refurb 2.7/16gb/768gb. Production date May 2013. Thought for sure it would have a Samsung or LG SJA2 screen, but has a SJA1. No dead pixels and no immediate IR. I've only got one day left to decide to keep it or not since it took so long to get it shipped to me overseas by a family member.

Oh yeah, only one cycle on the battery.

Just bought a refurbished Macbook Pro 17 inch

I have to say if there is one company I'd buy refurbished products of, its Apple. I love my new Macbook Pro 17 inch, wanted the biggest screen possible. Just put an SSD and 16 gb Ram in this bad boy. Looks like new :)

I sold my retina MBP about five months ago because I wanted a desktop, but now I'm missing the portability. I sold it for $1900 (2.6ghz, 8gb ram,512gb ssd).

I'm thinking of buying one now, andi can get an open box unit, fully loaded from Microcenter for only $1820 after tax (2.7 ghz, 16gb ram, 768gb ssd). So not only will I make some money, ill have a better specked computer.

The only thing holding me back is thinking about when the new ones are coming out, but for this price, it's tough to pass up.

That's a crazy good deal I'd definitely take that and then when haswell comes out IF its THAT much better and you want it you could sell that max model for $2700 easy since on apple's site its about 3k and then you can use that extra $1000 to buy your haswell and then if haswell isnt that much better enjoy your beast and save your money.

Wow are they having a sale or something? That's really cheap!

Was looking for a MacBook to purchase but didn't want to spend that much money (Retina level dollar). Upon searching, I found a seller on Amazon listing a Macbook Pro 13" i7/8/1TBHDD for $1160 + 9 bucks shipping. Condition is "Very Good" and is claimed to have no problems except light scuffs on the bottom. Should I just the gun and buy this? Or keep looking somewhere else?

Best Buy has the base rMBP 13" listed for $1419 plus if you sign up for their student coupons you get an additional $100 off coupon, so $1319 + tax for a new rMBP 13" base model. I'm thinking about picking one up tomorrow. Tired of waiting for Haswell and school starts in 2 weeks for me.
