My refurb Retina Macbook Pro 2.6Ghz 512gb 16gb RAM just arrived. Pretty excited.
Has anyone been making the case that Apple might be selling new stock through the refurb channel. My 2.6 looks literally untouched. Not even the smallest scratch on the thing.

That's how Apple refurbished is, actually. It's pretty much brand new without the Apple retail box.

I just managed to find a 15" MBP, latest generation in a bankruptcy auction with a badly written description (something about the hard drive, which only meant it was formatted) that I managed to snag for $850 – considering the retail price here in Sweden for the same model is a massive $2400 that is an absolutely ridiculous deal.

Now the wait for Haswell rMBP:s turned way easier.

He has 0 macs for sale....

LOL. This ebay user sells antiquities...

Well........saved up for a new 13" MBA haswell..........and somehow ended up ordering a rmbp 15" base with 16gb ram? I blame a slip of the finger whilst ordering! ;) (I got a nice student discount via 'a friend', hence the upgrade from the air). Now just to wait a week...........

Just got a brand new still sealed Retina MacBook Pro Early 2013 with a 2.7 GHz processor, 16 GB of RAM, and 512 GB of flash storage for $1900! :D Was going to wait for the refresh to buy one but I just couldn't pass up that deal. Couldn't be happier and the screen is amazing!

where did you get that kind of deal?!

I just ordered a refurb $1599 base model June 2012 model but i would have jumped on that deal for sure

Yes these are the items currently being sold by him. Like I said, when they are put up for sale they well pretty fast, which is why they are not always listed. Clearly you do not know how to look at completed listings on ebay, as you would see he has sold many retina MacBook Pro within the last month. The most recent is shown in the picture I posted above which was sold on June 18..

LOL. Don't take it personal. I am not saying you are lying. It is just funny and weird to see someone selling antiquities aside of rMBP. It is likely those rMBPs fell off the back of a lorry... ;)

Lol it is pretty weird how he goes from selling antiquities to iPads and MacBook pros. Just didn't seem like anyone was believing me lol

I just got my first macbook pro today!
It's the refurbished Macbook pro retina 15". And it comes with LG display! :(

It says, "LP154WT1-SJA2"
I ran the IR test, there was nothing wrong.
I checked the battery cycle, there are only 2.

I'm afraid about the ghosting or burn-in screen for LG.
Should I return it and get a new cMBP 15" instead?

Thanks for the advice

I have that screen as well and have had no problems what so ever by now. Just enjoy it and if there's a problem you can just bring it to the apple store and get it fixed since you are still covered under your warranty.

How long you have your rmbp with SJA2?
I'm just curious.
btw, thanks for the reply

I've been trying to hold off for Haswell but its tough... Especially comsidering i could get a refurb for almost $200 off new price. One thing I noticed is that there are sometimes unopened rmbp's for sale on eBay. Where do these sellers come across these unopened new products and sell them for $150+ less than Apple?

too good to pass up...

was waiting and waiting ( like everyone ) then saw that macmall had a new 15" 2.7, 8gb, 1tb w/ hi res anti glare for $600 off ( which is $200 less than an apple refurbished same spec model), so i snapped it up. i need the anti-glare and the optical space so it was perfect.

gonna upgrade to 16gb, 512ssd and 1tb/7200 data doubler as soon as it arrives. should keep me happy for another 5 years...

You are going to return a computer that has not had any issues because it could possibly in the future? These things come with warranties, you know.

As long as you haven't changed your mind about what you want, I'd suggest you keep your perfectly functioning computer.

According to the most recent poll run here, out the 50 or so units, no SA2, three SA1 and, one Samsung screen showed IR. Enjoy your laptop with the better colors, as no one has reported a SA2 with IR here yet.

In the older poll, one before the SA2 came out, 10% of the samsung screens were reported as having IR. So it looks like you have a better chance getting IR with a Sansung display. See that was easy, just enjoy, be happy.

I will keep that in mind. Thank you.
Btw, my macbook pro retina gets warmer around the top of the kepboard (between thr screen and keyboard area)

Is it notmal?

Im new to apple product

I just ordered another 13.3" Classic Pro. :)

My bookstore has them for $949 with a free $50 iTunes gift card.

It's the standard Pro with a 2.5 GHZ i5 and 4GB of ram.

I have a spare Samsung 256GB SSD that I'll toss in along with a 16GB DDR3 kit.

I know the Haswell is coming soon but to be honest, I know the Haswell models will not be $999 because the only reason this machine is $999 is to off-load backstock and prepare for Haswell. I also don't want to wait until Fall to get one.

I also have a gaming desktop that I will use for my extensive work, the MacBook is going to be my mobile workstation. I also needed the upgrade-ability and future-proofing. Also, I didn't go for the Retina models or the Air because the extra $300 spent upgrading those would be better spent on a new GPU for my Hackintosh.

In short, for $1400 total my options were:
Retina 13" with 8GB and 128GB SSD.
Spend $150 more on a non-Retina 15.4" Pro with 512mb 650m. (Can upgrade ram and hard drive later as well)
Spend $1200 on an upgraded 13" Air (4GB + 256GB SSD/8GB + 128GB SSD) (Cannot upgrade later)
13" Classic Pro + iPad Mini/iPod Touch for gym time (Can upgrade ram later, don't need strong GPU because of gaming desktop)

SO I went with the classic.

Just a quick question, because it's not worth starting a new topic...is it possible to block the fan vent on the rMBP? I've had a look and it seems as though when the MacBook is open there's a large gap above the keyboard where the vent can draw air. It can also draw air out of the bottom but it doesn't seem like using the MacBook on a soft surface would be able to totally block the vents like what is advised again with other laptops because the rMBP doesn't have fans on the bottom.

Thoughts?

I bought a 13.3" MBPr, 8 GB, 256 GB SSD, I believe it was the i5 2.7 GHz processor, from Best Buy. Returned it right before WWDC before my 14 days ran out. No Haswell was announced, so I said screw it, I'm not waiting. I got the same computer again, but this time with the i7 3.0 GHz. Couldn't be happier! (And it's my first Apple computer).

Is it normal for the rMBP to get warm whilst charging? My Incase sleeve has facilities for the MacBook to charge whilst it's still in the case, is this just insulating the heat and not helping? Can't think why it would be a feature of the case if it's not good so I'm presuming it's fine.
