they won't actually give you the details about the condition of the refurbished product.
so it could be either the former or latter.

I think the probability of having several people buying the same config and returning it at the same time or consecutively is quite low, else there must be something wrong with the config or product (LG screen for instance? :D).

I observed the other day a $1949 refurb disappearing and re-appearing 2 days later. I guess it is a re-refurb... I don't like the idea to buy a RE^N-furb...

or it could mean someone bought it, and then another guy whose not related to the first buyer returned a rMBP with same specs ....
no complicated logic here

i'm not sure how refurbs works in USA, but in Australia refurbs only can be purchased on Apple online.
2 days is way too short for a product to be shipped to the buyer's address, then returned back to the Apple store which is then listed on the website.

i reckon it would took about 4-5 days turnaround until the re-re-refurb product show up on the website.

besides, even if the product is returned multiple times it will still went through checks by Apple before it is listed back on the website.

I think I'm going to just bite the bullet and buy the 13 inch cMBP. The 200 dollar price drop makes me think they're trying to get rid of it.

Dang I hadn't seen anything on that. Where is that? Or is that maybe just your uni?

Had a look into it, the website appears to say something like "free Apple Care for your new Mac." Which I guess suggests it doesn't apply to refurbished machines which are the same price regardless of whether you're on the university store or not.

Over the years I've noticed on just about any refurb product, be it displays, airports, servers, or computers, the same configuration comes and goes as the refurb stock gets low. Most notable with mac minis and few if any of those get returned or re-returned.

That's just your school anyways I think.

Waw, I just saw the first early 2013 15" rMBP on Apple store Spain: 2,7Ghz, 16Gb, 512Gb for €2399 (~$3200). More expensive than a new one in US... :/. $2399 (~€1793) would have been the right price if Apple applied properly the $ to € convertion rate...

I just ordered my 13" rMBP!!!!! EXCITEMENT HO!!!!

'This is the first Mac for Mr. Augustine and he is accepting on behalf of every excited cell in his body. Previous laptops include a 2005 Dell 1505 and a 2008 Dell Studio 15. Mr. Augustine is most famous for spilling milk on his first Dell and beating the crap out of his second while in Iraq.'

I would just like to thank everyone for making this possible. Jeez, I don't know what to say. What a moment... Thank you MacRumors for helping me stress out about Haswell Updates for no reason and BTS promotions that have tried my patience. Thank you Johns Hopkins for accepting me into your program and giving me an excuse to be spoiled by my parents. And thank you Mom and Dad for paying the ludicrous price of a rMBP and not knowing any better to question it. I would also-

*do do dee dah doo dee dah* (Mr. Augustine is now being ushered off stage as the program moves on to 'Best New Reality Show Starring Slutty White Trash Housewives.') Transition clip plays on screen: "Best get yer hands erf our roadkill, biatch!"

I wanted to quickly thank all of you who convinced me to take a chance and purchase a June 2012 refurbished MacBook Pro 15". My fiancee and I both received them today and they are absolutely flawless. And we are VERY critical of cosmetics. In fact, the exterior shells are so perfect that I'm inclined to believe these are new exteriors.

Also, are screens are a Samsung and a 2nd generation LG. After comparing the two, the Samsung has a higher maximum brightness, while the LG has slightly better viewing angles and a more natural white. Color "depth" is almost dead even, but if you scrutinize both the LG wins by the smallest of margins. Of course, this is simply out-of-the-box impressions without calibrating.

We saved over $1000, so thank you to everyone.

Now, a couple quick questions about boot camp:

1) Is a 64GB partition enough for Win7 and space to hold MS Office and a few games that combined come to about 8GB?

2) Is there any negative to running Boot Camp in terms of system stability or reliability? One forum stated that running PC games on the Mac greatly increases heat generation, almost to dangerous levels. Please note the games I would be running are older games like Planescape Torment, Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale, etc. No cutting edge FPS titles, or power hungry RTS games.

thanks again.

1) I can make do with 25GB, the only caveat is you have to install those huge games on External Hard drive, and load it from there.

2) All laptops are engineered to maintain maximum temperature below threshold.
if it did went past the limit, there are other safety measures... the laptop will shut itself down.

I just ordered my FIRST apple laptop!
Refurbished Macbook pro 15" with retina display
- 512 GB flash storage
- 8 GB RAM
- June 2012 model
- 2.6 GHz

for $2155 (including tax)

Is it a good deal?

Another choice that I was about to get beside the rMBP is New cMBP 15"
- 8GB RAM
- 500 GB SATA
- 2.3 GHz
for $2133

But people here suggested me to get the refurbished rMBP instead of the new cMBP

Hopefully I made a right choice!

Ordered my refurbished base model 15" rMBP this morning! Expected delivery on Friday, can't wait! Now just to look into a sleeve for it!

New MBPr

First post, finally made a decision thanks to some reviews on here. I went with the 2013 Macbook Pro Retina 2.6/8G/256G combination that they had at the Apple Store. I got a 5% discount from my company and 10% on the Apple Care. I almost went with the 3.0/8G/512G combo, but at the last minute I saved the $500 because I think I'll give this one to my girlfriend when the new ones come out and get me the new one. I was hesitant to buy because I know they are coming, but I need it for work so I had to pull the trigger this week.

So far it's everything I expected. Posting from it now, display is amazing.

:D

Conversion rate? What conversion rate? Everyone knows $1000 = €1000.

I will be placing my order for my MacBook Pro with retina tomorrow. I'm going to get the 2.7 GHz processor, 16 GB of RAM, and 512 GB of flash storage.

I'm pretty pumped!

Just picked up an unused 2.8 ghz 512GB storage 16GB ram retina 15 incher for $2200 at craigslist.

Warranty only lasts until march but I can always get the extended warranty :)

Wow! Let us know if that is what you actually get! A $600 discount on a new system is really unusual.
