Woot!

After waiting several weeks for Haswell, and then agonizing for several more days about 13" Haswell MBA w/ 512GB vs. 13" Ivy Bridge rMBP w/256GB, I found a refurb rMBP w/ 512 for only $100 more than either of the other options would have cost. Phew.

I'd have waited for Haswell rMBP, but now need to move to something lighter than my 2010 15" MBP sooner rather than later due to an injury. Still not thrilled about having tech that's about to be supplanted, and a little nervous about getting a bad screen, but also excited to finally get the computer. Fingers crossed about the display...

Now for all the accessories... f'rinstance, the rMBP is way too small for my 15-year-old laptop bag (although it might fit in the charger pouch!) Any recommendations?

I couldn't wait any longer! Used my government discount (same as the education discount) and got my 15" retina 2.7ghz i7, with 16gb ram and 512ssd and i freaking love it.

I have upgraded my desktop PC with a haswell from an ivy bridge and i really can't tell any difference in speed. I can live with the graphics card there are always ways to make it faster im sure someone will find out how to flash it to a 760M when they come out later or something!

:D

Just ordered mine..Apple 13.3" MacBook Pro (with Retina display) dual-core Intel Core i7 2.9GHz, 8GB RAM, 512GB flash storage, Intel HD Graphics 4000

from MacMall for $1799. Seems like a good deal...Cant wait to get it!

I just bought this one

http://www.amazon.com/Apple-MacBook-MC975LL-15-4-Inch-Display/dp/B007471PZQ

Model MC975LL/A for $1,889.99 from Best Buy as a clearance item! rMBP 15 inch, quad core 2.3 GHz Intel Core i7, 8 GB RAM, 256 GB flash storage. Do you guys think I made a good buy? I'm coming from a base 2010 MacBook Pro 13 that's being replaced due to faulty USB ports.

Was this a good deal? Apparently I saved $309, and I do understand this is last year June's model.

For $2075, some got a 15" rMBP 2.7ghz, 16gb RAM, and 512gb flash... It is up to you...

Return it. I just bought the same machine from Apple, albeit refurbished, for 1599. It runs and looks like new.

Interesting.... This is the best deal I could find in my area when it came to getting a Retina MBPro. I know I could have gotten it cheaper at Apple refurbished, but I have a Best Buy card with a lot of credit, and a special on rewards points lol.

Thanks for the input guys! I'm happy with what I got and I LOVE the computer! The retina screen makes such a huge difference that I didn't think it would.

I've been looking at the UK refurb store and I want a base model 15" rMBP with 16GB of RAM. They only have a 16GB model with 512GB SSD which I'm not paying £1899 for. They're also all the original June 2012 models. Surely they have refurb stock for Feb 2013 models? Also, how do you go about selling refurbished products when you're doing with them in their life span? Usually you'd sell with the box, but you don't get a box with refurbished products.

You still get a box, it's just a plain white one with foam support inserts. The accessories also come in their own packaging that says, "Apple Certified."

Considering getting the 2012 15" rMBP base model on the UK refurb store. Obviously that's only 8GB of RAM. I want it for my photography mainly which I practically just use Lightroom for. Would I regret not getting 16GB or would 8GB be enough for my needs? I did some basic usage monitoring during a normal work flow and I never went above like 3.9GB used. Not very future proof?

Just bought mine too. 15" rMBP 2.7 16GB. I'm sick of the waiting game, I just wanna enjoy having a nice laptop again. Not too worried about battery life etc, and it should get me through the next few years without a problem. Then I can start planning the wait for my next purchase a little better :). Plus the store manager here in Atlanta said if I get one now and anything is updated in 30-days they will let me trade it in. If nothing happens in 30-days, then I'm still better off by pulling the trigger now and stop obsessing over the forums of when the next speculated update might be.

Been waiting for what feels like an eternity. Sold my 2011 MBA to my sister after her computer broke which was perfect timing for me. Didn't have enough processing power for the video work I do.
Anyways I was waiting for WWDC which ended up being fruitless, anticipated we'd have a BTS promo today which also did not come so I finally pulled the trigger on an existing deal.
15" 2.6ghz 512GB rMBP refurb. Arriving on Friday. Been crazy not having a Mac or laptop for these past few weeks. Certainly makes you appreciate portability when it is gone.

Also ordered it with the below case. Have read other reviews saying it holds up fine in spite of the reviews on the Apple site. Hoping that's the case!

Anyways just very excited for it to arrive!
EDIT: Quickly cancelled the order and bumped it up to 16GB of RAM for an extra $150. Don't want to have to upgrade this thing anytime soon.

FYI you can't upgrade RAM anyways. How do you know Friday? Mine has a huge range listed!

Right, meant upgrade the computer. Hoping to get a solid 4 years out of it.
And the shipping date was specific for my first order (Friday) but now has a range like you (Friday-Tuesday). Really hoping to have it by the weekend.

Ah gotcha. I still have a bigger range, Thursday to Wednesday. Perhaps it is because we chose the same computer and they aren't as ready as the other one was.

Does anyone know if the free 3 years of Apple Care still applies on refurbished products bought through the university store or is that just on new products?

Dang I hadn't seen anything on that. Where is that? Or is that maybe just your uni?

It says in the Ts and Cs of the uni store that every purchase comes with 3 years Apple Care for free. But you can pay like £60 extra for extended telephone support too.

My issue is that I'm looking into getting a refurb quite seriously to save money but the UK refurb store doesn't currently have a base model 15" rMBP with 16GB. There's only a 2.6, 512, 16GB which is way above my budget. The only reasonable option is a base model 15" rMBP with 8GB. I only really use Lightroom and never used more than 4GB on my PC at any one time so I think I'd be okay. And at £1300 it's quite a deal anyway.

This may be useful if you haven't seen it. There is a retina with 16 gigs which is similar in pricing to the one you have I assume (it is on the us store). However the tradeoff is the SSD.
