Dunno if folks will want to deal with the initial bugs, but deals on the current models may become better, maybe $100 or so. Its only money. If you just destroyed your laptop by dropping it out a window, no reason to wait to get a replacement. Current 2013 models seem to be solid.

Just ordered my first Mac.

Late 2012, 13.3" rMBP, MD213LL/A - i5 2.5 / 8gb / 256gb for $1680/- including 3 years AppleCare.

Though deals will get better hopefully after WWDC next month on these existing machines, I had this only chance to buy my first Mac so pulled the trigger.

Will get in hand by 30th May, hoping for the best.

Bought two of the 13.3" cMBPs (for the wife and I). (2.9 GHz i7) Added 16GB of ram and 1TB hdds to each. Use my SuperDrive a lot as well as the Ethernet port and didn't want to have to deal with those being external. The retina display would have been nice but, at the end of the day, we got what suited us best. (Probably won't see upgradable MacBooks with internal SDs much longer)

Microcenter deal

So I finally upgraded from my Powerbook 12in G4 to a brand new 15 in Macbook Pro - i7 2.6, 750gb hd and 8gb ram - $1799 at Microcenter - sells for $2199 elsewhere including Apple.

Awesome machine - Also picked up an OEM version of Parallels and migrated my Windows XP env to it as well. No hiccups and the few windows progs I run worked well.

Very nice machine and glad I decided not to wait for whatever comes next.

Deal Of The Century!!!

I seriously just got the deal of the century!!! I recently just bought a 2012 Macbook Pro 15" for only $850!!! It was upgraded to the 2.6GHz i7 processor ($200 upgrade), 8GB of Ram ($100 upgrade, and a 750gb Hard Drive ($100 upgrade). On top of all that it also included an extended AppleCare Warranty until 2016!!! ($350 upgrade). It was only 4 months old and in perfect condition! Would have cost over $2600 with tax!!!

Can't even begin to explain how stoked I am right now! With all the money I saved I upgraded it with an 250gb Samsung 840 SSD as my primary drive and took out my optical drive and installed a 1TB Hard Drive as my secondary drive. I'm also thinking about upgrading it to 16gb RAM for when I am running AutoCad and doing different renders. Anyways, that's my 2 cents. thanks for reading!!!

With my mid2010 15.4 on it's way out and needing a logic board replacement I pulled the trigger of a retina refurb. It was just too good of a deal to pass up.

Here is to hoping the price doesnt change too much when the refresh occurs.

Thursday can not come soon enough!!

Got my wife a base 13" MBPr refurb. $250 off, its all she will need. Not worth waiting for new model. Smick little machine.

Well, that was quick. Ordered from the Apple refurb store on Friday at 9:30am and received it on Saturday around 11am.

I got ya beat there. Ordered my rMBP 3pm on Tuesday and had it in hand Wednesday by 9:30am. Amazingly fast shipping right there.

Just ordered a 15" 2.6GHZ / 4GB / 500GB HDD cMBP with the Hi-Res Screen.

I plan on upgrading to Kingston HyperX pnp 16GB RAM and a Seagate Momentus XT 750GB HDD.

With all the recent developments regarding the possible discontinuation of the cMBP I bought one. It gives me the luxury of the 14 days return policy running over the June 10th announcement so if they upgrade the cMBP or do something worthwhile to the rMBP i can exchange.

If the price is lowered on the cMBP's would Apple give me a rebate (thinking back when they did a similar thing with iPad purchases but the option to upgrade)?

Awesome, how much was your total?

I have the possibility of buying a mid-2012 rMBP 15" with the 2.3GHz quad core processor for 1700€. The 2.4Ghz version (early-2013) costs 2249€ (2049 with student discount), so it's a huge deal.

For comparisson, the price for this mid-2012 rMBP 15 version I mentioned is the 50€ less than the high-end 13 inch rMBP.

Considering the new haswell based rMBPs that will be launched in the next few days, do you think the mid-2012 15 inch rMBP is worth because if this huge discount?

I am aware that haswell will deliver some greate battery life increase, but that is not a problem for me. So, basically, my doubt is between the mid-2012 rMBP 15 (at 1700€) versus the haswell rMBP 13" (considering they will maintain the same price, which is 1749€).

For reference:
- 1700€ = 2224$
- 2049€ = 2680$

Thanks in advanced

The 2012 rmbp 15" in my opinion is not worth to buy now. Apple revised many internals in the 2013 one and especially the connections (USB, thunderbolt) are reported to be considerably faster. Other than that the 2013 version may be less prone to display defects. Overall a better machine.
I consider the 2013 rMBP 15" the best option to buy, because you can find it cheaper when haswell comes out (shortly) and you still have a corrected version of the first 2012 model.
The other day I bought my 2013 rMBP 15" 2.7GHz/16gb/512gb for $2375/1860€ !
So my best advice is to try to get at least the 2013 model!

I'm going to call you out on this in particular because I have not heard this anywhere else previously. Let's see some supporting links and sources, please.

I read it on the apple forums here

Fair enough, however the benchmarks of one user on a forum is not sufficient proof that this is true for everyone. Just trying to make sure everyone is clear on that as this is a public forum and people tend to read one person's post as truth across the board.

Congrats on your purchase, btw and my apologies for being a meanie.

True, one benchmark, not even confirmed, can not be a good proof but it's at least something. Just my two cents :)
Thank you, and no worries I didn't take it like that :)

I can assure you I got it for 2375 :) I bargained a bit with the seller, they are desperate to sell them before the new ones come out.
