I just bought the used MacBook Pro retina 15" 2.7, 16GB, 768GB (Samsung SSD) for $2100.

It's SAJ1 screen though.. It's surprised me because this laptop built on Feb 2013!
But well, I ran the IR test for 10mins = no IR (yet)
1 year limited warranty until Feb 2014
So I'm happy with it.

Ordered my 15" refurb on 7/18 and received it today. I am quite happy with it. Although i do have an LG SJA2 display, I have the faster samsung SSD. The display seems to have no Image retention. :D

I just received mine, I have the same display and SSD as you. It also seems I have no IR so far! I'm very happy with this laptop so far, big improvement over my 2011 MBA 13". I just have to get used to a little extra weight!

Just ordered the cMBP 13" yesterday. Being that I want the disc drive and ability to do some upgrades myself, it was a no-brainer. The retinas are nice, but I don't like the restrictions they come with.

Just put in my order for 16GB RAM thru Crucial! And it gets delivered the day before I start a 5 day weekend=plenty of play time with the new toy!!

Just got my 13 inch MacBook Pro

Hi everyone, I'm new to the intel Mac, I just purchased a 13 inch unibody macbook pro mid 2012 with 8 GB ram, 750 GB HDD, 2.9 GHz Corei7. I absolutely love this mac and it's going to stick with me for a long time. My last mac was a PowerMac G5 so as you can imagine this is quite a speed increase. I actually got it on sale for 1299. It's still 1499 on macs web site. Lets hear about your MacBook Pros!!

----------

Oh and by the way I opted not to get the retina display model because I wanted the DVD drive. :apple::D:apple:

I just couldn't pass up the price....I'm very glad I got it and am not worried that the haswell is coming. This MacBook is super fast. And like i said I wanted the dvd drive.

Hey guys I already posted this in another forum, but since you people most recently bought the retina macbook pro, I thought you guys would be most knowledgeable on this subject

I found I deal on craigslist for a retina macbook pro 15" for 1000 dollars. Is this too good to be true?

it has 2.6 ghz intel i7, 8 gb ram, 512 gb ssd hard drive. it is a 2012 model.

I really need a laptop for college which is starting soon, should I pull the trigger and get this laptop, or wait for haswell whenever that should be?

That deal is too good too be true, it retails for $2,500+. I'd be skeptical of it being stolen or other problems they're not mentioning.

Just picked up my first Mac in over 10 years (Had one of the original imacs back in the day).

Loving it thus far - 13" Retina Pro 2.6ghz / 256GB.

Refurbished with 4 battery cycles and a fantastic deal.

Can't believe how much i'm loving OSX! I use Android and disliked iOS on my iphones and ipads but OSX is awesome.

Will keep an eye out on the Haswell developments as fortunately I could easily sell this for what I paid or more if the new 13" is compelling enough.

Otherwise, stoked and can't wait to edit my latest photos on this from Vietnam and Cambodia!

It's TOO DAMN good to be true. If it's $2000 for this spec then yeah... it's reasonable.
But $1000 for rmbp 15" = NO WAY!

Why I Bought a Non Retina Macbook Pro

I decided to write this post because people tend to forget that the non retina macbook pro is still a viable option for many consumers. While it doesn't have all of the flash that the MBA and rMBP, it can still keep up with them and has its own set of advantages. Here are some of the advantages that led me to my purchase.

1. The cMBP comes standard with 500 GB's of storage. It is slower but you have the option to upgrade is to an SSD which leads me to my next point...
2. The cMBP is upgradeable. In the MBA and rMBP the storage and ram are soldered in. In the MBP you can add more ram or storage in a couple years if necessary, making it more future-proof.
3. The cMBP has an optical drive. While most media is downloaded from the internet these days, it is still useful to be able to load a friend's CD into your music library once in a while. While you can buy an external Cd drive for the MBA and rMBP's, that kind of defeats the whole purpose of portability as you'd have to lug it around.
4. The cMBP is more powerful. While the MBA might seem faster due to the SSD, it actually has a less powerful CPU. Once you start doing more intensive tasks the MBA will start slowing down. THe rMBP has the same CPU as the cMBP but it has an inadequate GPU for powering its retina display, making it slow down.
5. The cMBP is cheaper. With my education dicsount, I bought a brand new500 GB MAcbook pro with 8 GB's of ram for only $1,100. It would cost $1,600 to get a MBA with all the same specs.

Well that's why I pulled the trigger on a cMBP and I couldn't be happier! Feel free to chime in if you agree or if you think I'm wrong!

Great post, glad you got what works best for you.

Very well said. That's the exact reason I bought a 2012 cMBP instead of retina.

Now, I was speaking with Apple Store rep and he said that he honestly doesn't see the cMBPs going away anytime soon. The price point and expandability still reaches out to a considerable market. Of course we can just take that for a grain of salt as with all rumors.

couldn't wait any longer this summer for haswell and bought the rMBP. Almost got the cMBP, which def has its advantages over rMBP, but coulfnt get past the beauty and clarity og the retina image. Beautiful hardware hope it lasts in med school.

If I buy a 13" cMBP, should I get the standard 4/500 or upgrade to 8/750? I'll mostly be using Photoshop (sometimes Illustrator but I've only used it twice; so far those are the only Adobe programs I've been using), as well as your normal college use (web, word...). The 7 hour batter doesn't bother me that much because I have places to charge if I ever do run out of battery when I'm in college.

Why not just buy the base 500GB and install a SSD unless you need the 750GB
MBP will be a lot speedier then
