Pulled the trigger too just bought a 2.7/16/512 brand new for £1900 bargain consider its normally £2300 and Apple charge more than that for a refurb

Please buy more... Get one for your wife, kids, nephew, grandparents... Help apple get rid of its rMBP overstock so they will release the haswell in mid-September instead of October... :D

Just ordered rMBP 15" Maxed out from apple refurb store for 2619$ and no tax so i guess its a good deal as in mid september i have to go to overseas and i don't think haswell rMBP will be released before october :)

Nice on the tax savings! Did you have a tax free holiday or just live in a tax free state?

Extremely Luck Refurb

I just received a 15" refurb that I purchased from the Apple store a few days ago for the $1599 price. It was the base model, at least so I thought. Turns out they sent me the base specs but with the 16GB of RAM upgrade :D

Needless to say, I did not expect such a nice gift from Apple for purchasing my first mac. This thing is gorgeous, stays fairly cool and the battery life is fairly acceptable from where I'm sitting. Hope some of you other people get lucky with an Apple screwup!

Damnit, I wish I wouldn't have read this. Mine will be delivered tomorrow and now I'm going to be slightly disappointed if it doesn't have 16GB, lol.

Does the serial # on the box match the serial # of the machine?

Was the sticker on the bottom of the plastic wrap around the notebook itself already torn when you went to remove it?

I thought refurbs come in plain white boxes. Is the serial number still located on it?

I'll have to check the serial number on the box when I get back home, but the sticker on the bottom of the plastic wrap was not torn when I received it; but it's torn now! ;)

The plastic wrap around mine was definitely torn, just opened the box about 5-minutes ago.

Oh, and guess what? :) :)

That's awesome! I guess it's just luck of the draw?

I guess so. bhayes444 got his yesterday and I got mine today. We both bought the refurb base model for $1599, yet we both ended up with the same 16GB upgrade. I wonder if Apple only has 16GB versions left.

I am now even more happy with my purchase :)

I have to order mine ASAP! Any hope of getting an SSD upgrade instead of the ram? Wishful thinking haha

Congratulations!!!!

I think you may be right about them only having the 16GB ones left, either that or they just don't care anymore since it was listed as the base model with only 8GB of RAM.

Did you check to see if you have the LG or Samsung display? Mine has the LG, so given that this is the 2012 model I hope that I don't get any image retention issues. Oh well, even if I do it is under warranty until August of 2014, at which point Broadwell will be released or almost released.

I am very happy with this machine, and it is going to be able to do anything I want for a long time. The 16GB upgrade is definitely going to increase its longevity.

I did check just a few hours ago, and I lucked out again with the Samsung display. I was worried about not being able to upgrade the RAM, but with this massive stroke of luck I feel like this thing will be able to tide me over until Skylake or hopefully Skymont *crosses fingers*

Just picked up a MBP 13" i5/8Gb/256Gb from Best Buy in their $200 off sale (got it for $1,499).
I have been stressing out over what to get, Air vs Pro vs iMac. As an iPhone 5 and iPad 4th gen owner, finally decided that Retina was the dealbreaker and although Haswell is around the corner, the $200 savings is worth it to me.

Now I just have to break the cling film and open it!
