That's why I jumped. rMBP 13/8/256. $200 off at BB, then $100 for edu discount and then over $100 saved on taxes in NC. $1399 out the door. I'd like a Haswell, but the savings was too good. Helps tighten up the loss if resold also.

I want to sell the Apple TV because I also ordered a mac mini (arrives tomorrow) and that is what I plan to use with Plex for music and entertainment.

Couldn't wait any longer, ordered a base 15 retina refurb for $1600. My reasoning was that I wasn't going to be able to afford the haswell 15 anyways and this model will probably be more powerful than the 13 haswell I would've bought. Can't wait to be using this beautiful 15 inch screen!

Well over the weekend I played with the 15" rMBP at the Apple Store...game over. Just placed an order for a refurb 15" rMBP base...the retina display is simply amazing !!!

Gona have to sell the 2011 15" MBP to help cover the cost now :p

I sold my pristine condition (with original box) 2011 15" MBP on June 6, then ordered my refurb 15" retina MBP on June 10th right after WWDC ended with no new rMBP announcement. (Since you are in Texas, I hope you'll get better price for yours than I did for mine in cut-throat competitive New York City.)

Coming from the 2011 MBP is like being upgraded to a First Class seat. You're gonna LOVE your new machine!

I ordered the 15" refurb Ivy rMBP for the exact same reason, the 15" Haswell will be just under $2500 taxes included of course, so I decided this was a more feasible option. The 15" ivy rMBP WILL not probably will still be way more powerful than the 13" Haswell, you can count on that;).

After having my 15" refurb since Saturday, I can definitely say that I am extremely happy I went ahead and bought it. At $1599 I saved a ton of money, and this machine does everything I need (not to mention the gorgeous screen).

I've been playing Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3 on it quite a bit (Mac versions) and have no gripes at all about the game performance. You can definitely play games quite well on this thing.

I think that I will stick with buying refurbs before new releases.

Glad you're enjoying it. Any plans on installing Windows via Bootcamp?

Yes I think I will be buying refurbed from now on as well. It sucks being an early adopter sometimes, especially for the people That bought the 13" rMBP when it was originally $1700. It pays off to wait sometimes litterally, I just saved myself $678 buying refurbished over brand new. Another thing is, there are rumors that the haswell 15" may not even come with a dedicated gpu, and only come with the integrated Iris 5200 chip. If thats the case, I know a lot of people are going to be upset they waited so long as the overclocked GT 650M inside the 15" Mac's is still a very good card and will destroy the 5200.

Ordered the $1600 refurb 15'' as well, yesterday. To those who already got theirs, hows the physical condition of the device? Any scratches? I'm hoping it looks like new.

Won't have any cosmetic faults. The refurbs get a new case/shell and battery.

...and since they're carefully tested, they're almost "better" than new!

My refurb 2.6ghz rMBP has exhibited none of the problems associated with this model. Graphics (such as switching desktops, iTunes scrolling) is even smoother than on some floor models in Apple stores.

Mine was perfect. The only thing I noticed were some scratches inside the magsafe port from when it was charged, however that is going to happen on any Macbook the very first time you charge it. I checked the battery cycles and it only had 2, so I doubt it was used much before I got it.

I got my refurb rmbp 15" last month and returned it to apple after 6 days.
I got noises and over-heat problems. My refurb rmbp 15" had only 2 battery cycles when I got it.

Then I ordered the used rmbp 15" from ebay. No problems so far!

WOOT! Just ordered my brand new rMBP on Ebay. 2013 Model 2.7 Ghz, 512GB SSD, and 16GB RAM for $2200 shipped. I can't wait I've been trolling ebay for the past month or so waiting for a deal like this one.

Smokin deal.

Congrats! Did you win an auction, or find a Buy It Now deal like I did?

I just got the exact same model in today, new also. Only I paid $2300, which I'm still happy about. After CA sales tax I would have paid over $700 more for this. Selling my 2009 MBP immediately, which I babied the hell out of.

Currently installing retina versions of Adobe Photoshop and MS Office. I love this thing!

Placed my order this morning as well. Cheers to us having good luck on getting a freebie!

Received my rMBP earlier this afternoon just after 5pm and I am in heaven lol. Everything is working great and the retina is just breathtaking as ever. I even find the keyboard amazing, it's much better than my late 2009 white Unibody's keyboard. This whole machine is such a step up from my white MacBook its unreal. I didn't get the bump from 8GB of ram to 16GB but to be honest I could care less, 8GB is plenty for what I use this machine for and I couldn't be happier with its performance so far. There is not a hint of any scratches, dents marks or anything, this thing is in prestine condition:D. Have you received yours yet?

Nice man, glad you are enjoying your new machine! I actually cancelled my order with Apple the day after I placed it. I ended up purchasing a 2013 open box base 15" rMBP for $1,699 from Best Buy. For only $100 more I figured it was worth it to get the early 2013 model instead and it came with the original box which is a plus.

I felt even better with my decision once Apple listed the 2013 15" rMBPs on the refurb store for $1,869 the same day I purchased mine.

FYI...Seeing the 15" retina February '13 refresh in refurb now...

Yeah, but for $270 over the 2012 refurb I don't see the real reason to pick that one up, unless you absolutely are paranoid about the 2012. I'm typing this from a recently acquired 2012 retina refurb and it is wonderful.

Got my refurb yesterday, its great, looks 100% brand new. The retina screen is amazing, I actually have a 24inch 1080p monitor I use at home, and it looks way too pixelated now, I'll probably end up throwing it away. First world problems right?

Anyway, thanks for the info guys.

Throw it my way, I'll give it a nice home. :p

Surely you couldN'T care less that you didn't get the RAM upgrade... (Saying you 'could care less' implies that you care to a certain extent... :p)

But I digress. The retina displays are fantastic aren't they? I'm digging mine a lot and find it hard to use my iPad mini. It's so nice to look at. :)

In fact the only thing that wasn't so crash hot about mine was the misaligned bottom case which caused it to wobble and creak. But the Apple Genius at Doncaster fixed it up, eliminating the wobble and greatly reducing the creakiness caused by the grounding pins on the logic board (and fixing my own cack-handed attempt to reseat the bottom case in the process, replacing the screws I stripped). :D
