I'm getting ready to launch on a 3-month trek through Europe and, though I have an iPhone 5 and an iPad 3, decided I need a lightweight laptop to get work done while on the road. I was going to pick up a 2013 Air but thought it best to wait for the new rMBP and I'm really glad I did. Yesterday I went to the Apple Store to compare the two models with no intention of actually buying one. But, after trying each of them for an hour, checking performance, display, features and size/weight, I was so impressed with the rMBP 13/2.6/8/512 that I walked out with one and couldn't be happier.
This is my 9th Mac since 1985 (128K, IIcx, IIci, Quadra 7100, PowerMac G3, G4 Titanium, PowerMac G5, MacPro 2008). Two years ago I built an overclocked i7-2600k gaming PC that is terrific for it's intended purpose, but for sheer ease of use, getting work done and, yes, delight, Mac has never disappointed.
From 28 years experience with Apple technology I think I can safely say, yes, you made the right choice. Good luck on your own Mac journey. I hope it goes as well as mine.

Track shipment button isn't working
Go to UPS.com, click Tracking, choose "Track by reference", and then enter your order id from Apple (W..............). Then it'll find it

Has anyone ever encountered
-- sudden system freeze
or
-- the keyboard and touch pad become unresponsive symptoms?
I'm interested in buying the new MBP but looking into apple forums, I found a couple of threads discussing about the same issue.
Was wondering whether any of you guys out here experienced the same?

that happens to me almost daily at work with my HP Windows 7 laptop ...... I wish I had a Mac at work!

Anyone out there get their order early? Think I've wasted my Friday waiting on this laptop but it's actually just going to come on Monday - the original delivery date. UPS updated tracking this morning to show early delivery by 3 pm but it hasn't moved out of KY. Anyone else get theirs?
I only had syncreon and I think they push it out to local contractors. Tracking did show that it had gone out for delivery on the day though (through the syncreon parcel tracking site) so you should be able to confirm the apple estimated delivery date.

But today i bumped into to this one : http://bit.ly/Hm2R0G which went from 2629 to 1800 . It's an ex-demo product in a very good state, so the only downside might be the fact that it was on and used all day long for showcasing to possible buyers...

I was using the touchpad today (first time user) and then when I used two fingers I was mind blown. I tried to replicate what I did on my windows machine but nothing happened
Ah, I remember when I used two finger gesture to scroll. In five years, I've gotten pretty much used to it and will try it on any laptop that has a trackpad or not. One thing you have to give to Apple is that they make the best trackpad on the planet. No one, not a single company can do trackpads as good as Apple. They all think that you have to have huge trackpads but then they don't have multitouch or if they do, it's a poor imitation that is just not as good and feels extremely clunky. It's so easy to use on a Macbook though.

It may still come today. Mine also said rescheduled for early delivery today by 3. (originally was supposed to be delivered on Monday)
I signed the waiver form and an earlier truck with some packages from amazon picked them up but no macbook pro
I checked the UPS tracking site and now it says between 4:45 - 7pm
Just called UPS and they said they were unable to ship that to me today so they're going to upgrade me to a Saturday shipping. Woohoo! I can still get the 2 day free to play with it!
Talked to UPS. Apparently the package got 'left in the building' and is now scheduled for Saturday delivery. It was supposed to be delivered on Monday. I guess I shouldn't complain - it's coming early, right? Just hate that I wasted a beautiful Friday waiting for no reason. Lesson learned - if it doesn't say 'OUT FOR DELIVERY' it's not coming early! Of course, the UPS site doesn't say anything about it being delivered tomorrow.

I'm waiting on knife's edge because I have to put up with a 4 year old Linux laptop and the highest temperature it can handle is around 90-100 degrees C. So guess what happens after 10 minutes of Youtube?

I doubt that you get it on Saturday cause UPS charges an arm and a leg for this service and they have very few drivers . You will more than likely get it on Monday

Ok I just bought mine yesterday at the apple store, I got the 15" basic model but I'm worried that this could be downgrade from the previous basic 15" model which a 2.4 and this one I got only has a 2.0, do you guys think that it is a downgrade?
