Ok I just bought mine yesterday at the apple store, I got the 15" basic model but I'm worried that this could be downgrade from the previous basic 15" model which a 2.4 and this one I got only has a 2.0, do you guys think that it is a downgrade?

No. 2.0 is faster than the 2.4GHz. Clock speeds mean nothing. The only thing that is a slight downgrade is the GPU. But if you don't do any video editing or play games at the high setting, you shouldn't notice a difference.

EDIT: for proof that the 2.0 is faster than both the 2.3 and 2.4 Ivy bridge:

Again, clock speeds don't mean anything. Haswell processors run more efficiently than Ivy bridge at lower clock speeds.

no. haswell brings comparable performance to previous gen, but adds battery life and gpu improvements.. unless you had the previous 15" with the nvidia 650m.. then that's up for debate.

wow that's surprising that the clocks a bit higher considering the other one was a 2.4,

Yes the previous one did have the nivida 650m however I don't do any intensive game playing.

Again, clock speeds mean jack ****. :D

Don't worry about clock speeds. It's faster and that's all it really matters, doesn't it? :)

And if you don't do any intensive gaming, you'll actually love the new Iris Pro. It's an amazing iGPU.

Haha very true, you have made me a happy camper about my purchase:) I'm so loving it and it doesn't heat up at all the machine stays super cool even when streaming movies on netflix where as on the previous one it would so hot that I could fry and egg on it lol.

Yeah I'm pretty excited about mine getting here. I've been hearing a lot about how the new ones run much cooler than the 2012 rMBPs. I'm pretty happy about that.

I'm coming from an early 2008 MBP so this will feel like an absolute beast to me. :D

I just got the base model 15" 2.0 GHz today, test driving it right now and really happy so far. It seems to run quite cool and it's really smooth and fast.

I know it's so awesome, is this your first mac?

Ya that will be a huge difference, which configuration did you get?

Nah I've had many before, my last was a 2011 13" base model. This is my first ever 15" MBP however. I've always wanted a 15" and finally had enough money to buy one. It's the $1999 base model 15".

Got mine finally around 5:30 but been too busy with other things will setup bright and early tomorrow morning :D just using my iPad for the night

Mine is showing 11:17 battery remaining with 86% used so far, light browsing and about 40% brightness. Seems pretty good.

I'm so jealous now lol, when I see ppl getting the higher end it makes me want one too :(

Well the only reason I got the higher end one is because I don't upgrade laptops that often (well, since I switched to a Mac anyways). They easily last 5+ years so I just want it to be somewhat futureproof. :)

Future proof now that's smart, now you got me thinking.

Sold my 2013 i5/4gig/128 13in MBA today and just ordered

13in rMBP 2.8/16/512

I will never ever again underestimate needed hardware specs.

posting from my new 13" rMBP!!

Picked it up at JB Hi-Fi in Melbourne (Nunawading for those interested)

Got i5/8GB/512GB for $1980 AUD.

Cheaper than the $2079 student discount. Quite pleased overall but proper usage is yet to occur, still setting some things up. Typing on the keyboard is pretty awesome though!!

I had ordered the high end haswell MBPr with nvidia graphics. I received it yesterday, but the bottom case was creaking, so apple have shipped a replacement. Please do check your, if its creaking or not, as its meant to be solid.

Exactly the same timestamps I have. Looks like our Macs will be right next to each other in the plane

Mine is showing estimated delivery on Wednesday (in Denmark).
