Amazing machine, really well built. No issues atm, but still setting it up

ordered mine on Oct 23, said it would come Oct 30, but came Oct 29! Set it up, no problems so far!!! So fast, and this screen is AMAZING!!! upgraded from an Early 2011 13 MBP....never going back!

Picked up my MBP :D

Portability (I carry it around everywhere), plus I got sick of the dGPU switching choosing wrong. :)

Yeah I just got the 13" inch also, coming from a 15" it did seem very small initially.. but after a few days of usage I've gotten used to it and if it does bother me that much I'll probably just get a $500 monitor and plug it in.

The portability (at least from room to room in my house alone) is definitely something you can't deny. It is very light from what I'm used to and seems to run pretty cool as well.

Mine is STILL sitting in Lousiville, despite the fact that there's been several UPS flights to the Toronto area since it arrived there!

It's been over 29 hours now, and based on the flight schedules it's going to be at least another 20.

For the amount of time it's been sitting in Kentucky, UPS had better be throwing some good bourbon in with it.

Guys I'm confused, I'm not sure which spec to go for.. Here are my options.

I've been offered a brand new in box sealed

2012 rMBP 15" 2.3Ghz i7, 256GB Flash, 8GB 1600 MHz, HD 4000 512 MB card for £1649

Is this a good deal? Or should I be looking at Haswell 13" and spec it out as much as I can for the same price?

I need it for light photography/videography use but also want it to last 3-5 years?
Cheers!

Got the base model with the 2.3 GHz processor upgrade.
Couldn't be happier! All the hype around the higher clocked processors having bad battery life is nonsense. Currently sitting at 95% and 11:21 battery remaining with brightness at 3 from max!

8GB is enough too with mavericks!

Ordered mine to replace my 2009 13" MBP.

Went for:

15-inch Retina MacBook Pro
- Haswell 2.3GHz quad-core Intel Core i7
- 16GB 1600MHz memory
- 512GB PCIe-based flash storage
- Intel Iris Pro Graphics
- NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M

Can't wait!

Fedex seems very slow compared to the UPS reports. I ordered last week, it was finally picked up Tues morn (Eastern time) "after cutoff", then sitting with no update for 30 hours until this morn (EST), then with no update all day. Now it's 4am in Shanghai, so probably sitting some more. It's scheduled to be delivered next Monday, so that'll be almost 10 days!!

Just ordered the new 13inch MacBook Pro with retina screen. 2.6 GHz/8Gb/256Gb

First mac so really excited for it to arrive and saved £400 on the list price through going through the education section.

I'm a bit of a Luddite so when I checked them out in the Apple Store I couldn't believe the size and weight of the Air. But the retina screen is too much to pass up!

Just ordered a pro, first mac in a lot of years for me. Was originally toying with getting the air but rude not to go for one of the pros with the new pricing. Gone for the 13", 2.6GHz, 16gb ram and 512gb ssd. Probably a bit overkill for what use it'll see but I'd rather be safe than sorry seeing as you can't upgrade them...

Time to set up camp waiting for the postman to arrive!

Bought a rmbp haswell 13in 8gb/256gb and a 2013 mba 4gb/256gb today.
I am curios: How did you underestimate needed hardware specs?

----------

Same here :D

I bought a 4gig Haswell MBA, that was my mistake there. I upped the memory and processor on the rMBP because I had the budget for it and I tend to keep my PC's awhile. I still happily use a 2011 iMac and my windows box is 7-8 years old.

Well, went to Apple store in Hong Kong last night and was planning to get the new rMBP 15" 2.3. Didn't have stock but they had one of the 2.6 with 1TB SSD. So, hell, I bought it!!

A nice mobile beast! :D

They just had it in stock? I thought that configuration was jus available as a BTO.

just got a 2.3/16gb/512/750 haswell 15 inch!

Congrats on the new machine, and I suspect you're just fine with the LG machine. Frankly, I wouldn't mess with the image retention test. I would just enjoy the computer. If an image retention issue happens to arise in the next few months, Apple will take care of it.

That's right. Found it odd too, but they didn't have the standard. Only one in which was the fully beefed up edition.

They were a little confused at first, as I asked about the 2.6 and they said I had to order it online. Then, they were to check the inventory for the 2.3 only to find out they didn't have any left but only one 2.6 1TB..

HK$25,388..

My girlfriend and I just purchased our very first Apple computer and we absolutely love our new computers.

She wanted the base retina model with 4GB and 128GB SSD, but I figure if she is going to have it for 4+ years, better to plan for heavier usage and add better internals now because we can't add more RAM later. So, after much thought, we decided to both get the 8GB and 256 GB versions and we are so glad we did.

There are a few things I miss about windows, but the interactions with the trackpad via gestures and folder animations remind me of WebOS and I loved that operating system. Between the new iOS7 card multitasking and my new macbook pro retina with gestures, I have the best of Apple and the best of WebOS and I am very thankful that I am fortunate enough in life to experience this.

P.S. I am loving the community of Apple users so far, everyone is friendly and helpful towards each other.

Scary Fast

I ordered mine 5 minutes after the site went live after the event. That was tuesday.....it was on my doorstep on that Friday. No express shipping or anything.

2.3/16GB/256

Never received a product so fast.

For all you who ordered on line did you have any issues with creaking cases or ghost or yellowing screens?

Got Macbook Pro 15 2.3 16 750M

Hi guys, I am a regular lurker for many months/years as I am a Mac user but only now I decided to register.

Just ordered a MacBook Pro 15' 2,3 16GB 512GB 750M, I was long due for an upgrade from my early 2008 black MacBook (hasn't failed me yet). I was hoping Apple would gift us with a black MacBook Pro or any other color like the iPhone 5S,not a big fan of the aluminium.

Looking forward to have my hands on the beast although I am going to miss the keyboard of the Black MacBook.
