Just bought a 15" 512 flash men, 2.7ghz, 16gig ram early 2013 refurb. Should be almost 11 days to get here though :roll eyes:

Been weighing the options between the maxed late 2013 and I just couldn't justify the extra $240.

Upgrading from my MBA late 2010.

I'm transferring my data right now. Glad I saw the tip to check my local store. This morning it was wait till 12-15 November for delivery but tonight it is load up the new beast.

It is rather convenient that Apple ships a few maxed out versions to the stores and that you can access the discount structure at the store rather than simply online.

Right now it is showing 28 minutes to transfer 160gb of data from my AIr.

I need some wishful thinking

I have a cable sitting in the Phoenix FedEx sorting area awaiting Saturday delivery (I'm a Prime member, so apparently they'll deliver these on Saturday). My new MBP is ALSO sitting in the same location waiting on Monday delivery. I wish their system had the ability to realize both were in the same location and allow my MBP to hitch a ride with my Saturday delivery item to my house. So close, yet so far. :D

Got it!

I just today received my 13" mid-range Retina Macbook Pro.

This is an upgrade from a 17" mid-2010 Macbook Pro.

Wow, the difference is incredible! Even more than the screen, I'm loving the speed. On my 2010, putting the computer to sleep takes forever. On this, it's sleeping in the blink of an eye! Crazy!

I'm running it in simulated 1440 x 900 resolution. I haven't noticed any stuttering or UI lag at all.

It runs SO much cooler than my old 17". That thing would burn your skin if you set it on your lap and watched Youtube. This thing never gets anywhere close to uncomfortably warm.

The screen is just beautiful. It's kind of crazy putting the 17" next to the 13". I think I'll enjoy the portability.

I've only had my new Mac for about 3 hours, but I couldn't be happier!

That's great to hear since I TOO am going from a mid-2010 17" MBP to a mid-range 13" so we're in exactly the same boat. Now that I'm travelling a week a month the 17" was just getting too unruly to pack around.

Where did you check to find out what type of display you got?
In Terminal, type:
ioreg -lw0 | grep \"EDID\" | sed "/[^<]*</s///" | xxd -p -r | strings -6
LSN - Samsung
LP - LG

After a few hours of working on my new machine, I am quite satisfied with my LG screen.
No noticeable image retention (only tested up to 5 minutes) and no LCD bleeding.
Happy camper, I am.

Am I missing something? When I run this command in terminal, nothing results.

After 10 days of contemplating which configuration to go for and if I should order in Canada or Dubai (where I am living). I finally did it. Can't wait. Will buy Apple Care from Canada as its not available here.
