As a Christmas present to myself today, I ordered a 15-inch with Retina Display MacBook Pro. Here are the specs:

2.6GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7
16GB 1600MHz
1TB Flash Storage

It should be shipping to me from the 3rd to the 7th. Cannot wait to get it in the mail! My most expensive purchase yet, but so well worth it. I need a laptop that I could rely on and I have no doubt that this will work out for me!

It's totally worth it - Apple make the best laptops available, and although you pay the price for them, you will never regret quality.

The Macbook Air I gave my wife for Christmas replaces her Samsung laptop - and my goodness me, was that Samsung a pile of junk. In fact, it is such shoddy quality I'm amazed they let them out the factory door.

Then again, maybe Apple laptops spoil us!

Anyway, my rMBP 13" shipped today! On target for delivery next Friday, although I wouldn't be surprised if it shows up earlier.

Back when I was in college my dad bought me a Sony laptop and I had problems with that a few months in. Got a virus from I don't know where and it wasn't running as smooth. A few years later, it just stopped working so I ended up using my dad's iMac and I've been using it for almost a year now and have had no problems whatsoever. I spent a hell of a lot of money but I know that every penny will be worth it

My MacBook Pro has shipped yesterday and is expected to be delivered on January 6th !!

Thank God I have off that day! I will be sitting outside waiting for it (I don't trust any delivery person to ring the bell because I've had multiple issues in the past where they claimed I wasn't home when I was home all day, they just failed to ring the doorbell like they're supposed to) I'm so excited to try out my new laptop

I'm ordering a 13" tonight with a 2.6, 16 gigs, and the 512. I'm worried about shipping though because I live in an apartment. Can I have it shipped to a store and do a pickup there?

I'm back and I've made a decision.

I'm back, as some people might remember; I was looking into the 2.3 15" rMBP. Well, I bought the 13" mid-tier model. I did this because of size, weight and performance. You don't have to compromise with the 13", it's a take it anywhere, do most things machine. Where the 15" isn't big or heavy, but it would make me think twice about taking it somewhere because it is heavier, it is bigger and it is expensive.

So, back to the 13". I paid $1399 for it on boxing day (Canada), it should've been $1449, but I convinced the guy to give it to me for $50 less. I got a free year of extended warranty aswell, so I think it was a good deal.

I was worried about yellow screens, uneven backlighting and battery life, but I'm happy to report I have none of those issues, I don't see any scuffs or creaking when pushing on the ends. There is no yellowing and no uneven backlighting. I haven't noticed any dead pixels either. So if you are worried about getting a lemon, I say fear not; they're probably fixed by now.

Just picked up a 13-in. Retina MBP (2.6/16/512) on Friday. Ordered it on December 14 and was told that it would take 3-4 weeks. Apple sure did a wonderful job of delivering it to me more than 2 weeks ahead of schedule. :)

Has anyone ordered a refurbished rMBP with 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD? How was it? I know the standard 2.3Ghz/8GB/256GB SSD Mid 2012 Model is $1599, interested to know how much I can get a model with 16GB RAM/512GB SSD for.

Refurb 2.7 i7 16GB 750GB flash

My wife got me the refurb rMBP 15" 2.7ghz i7 16GB 750GB flash from the apple.ca site... took a couple days shipping from USA.

Cost: $2399
Getting it for christmas: Priceless!

So far so good.:) I've ordered a palm guard and a keyboard silicone thing for it.

My 13" rMBP arrived about an hour ago. My goodness, this is the most beautiful piece of computer hardware I've ever owned. Amazing build quality and the most stunning display. Absolutely phenomenal. And it's really going to spoil me for other displays - I'm typing this on my rMBP with my Thunderbolt display just beside me on the desk, hooked up to my Mac mini - and it is low res and "cloudy" compared to the rMBP.

Oh man. This is a great machine. Perfect display as far as I can see.

Anyone got any recommendations for a good site to grab some desktop pictures from at the right res?

I went a little crazy today at the apple store. I bought a 13" retina with the 2.6 to replace my 2010 15". I also bought a 128gb AT&T iPad air.

the mbp will be my home computer and I'll be getting some type of display to plug it in to. I'm going to be getting my first DSLR or mirrorless camera and I wanted something I could run aperature or light room on.

don't think I need 128gb in the iPad but I figured I couldn't turn down 4x the storage for $200 more when I was already spending that much.

5 hours doesn't sound right, especially with the iGPU as it's the case in your screenshot. Could you show the CPU tab (sort by % CPU), after selecting View > All Processes?

today I have some better results. 4 hours in battery and is 33%. Maybe it will last 6 hours. but on this 4 hours I have 40-50 minutes without even touching it, and I only use safari for browsing. no video, no youtube, no other programs. only safari and some mails.

4 hours at 33%, that's more like it :). I don't see anything abnormal in this list. I think at the time it showed 5 hours at 93%, there was a rogue process, probably like kernel_task at 100% (one full core). Something that happened on my MBA not so long ago, still unclear. Looked like a bug in OS X (filed a bug report, not heard from Apple yet). Next time you see an unreasonably low battery life estimate, take a screenshot of the CPU tab with All Processes, then we'll have a more accurate picture of what's happening.

Sorry OT.
I have a question:
All stuff on my mbpr runs smooth but only the Itunes Store and the App Store are little bit laggy in scrolling.
Am I the only one with the problem?

I got my rMBP on Monday, I've been messing with it a bit the past few days. So far I love it. The battery life is top notch and everything feels fast, smooth and it just makes sense with gestures. Best touchpad ever too. I ended up going with the 13.3" screen, i5 2.4ghz, 8GB of RAM and 256GB SSD. It cost way more than I've ever spent on a computer but so far I think its worth it.

my uncle just bought me a 15" macbook pro, 16gb ram, nvidia....yada yada yada. thing is amazing. I love it.

that's all!

just opened my rMBP after fully charged. I see only 5 hours battery life remaining. I have open, mail, safari, iMessages, and dropbox. and wifi of course

also battery design capacity looks ok

Oh my God! I just got a notification from apple saying that my laptop is delivering today! I was expecting it for Monday! The anticipation is killing me! I cannot wait to hear that doorbell ring so I could finally get my baby in my hands!

Sold my Air for a Retina Pro

I have a 2012 rMPB 15" 2.6/16/256 but I also bought a MBA 13" in July as a second laptop. Since the refresh in October its been really bugging me that for a very small price increase I could have a 13 rmbp. Since I bought the MBA with education discount 14% in the UK I thought I would put it up for sale yesterday. Lo and behold I got a buyer who paid a fair price.

I have now ordered a 2013 rmbp 13" 2.6/16/512. Look forward to it. My 15" usually stays hooked up to my thunderbolt display at work and really needs to be there most of the time so thats why I have a second computer. I really need the 512gb SSD on the work mac though as Im running a Windows 7 VM all the time and I have to manage the storage space quite carefully.

Will probably upgrade the 15 next year.

If your 15" rMBP is always hooked up to a TBD and you use a second laptop when leaving work, wouldn't it make more sense to simply have an iMac + 13" rMBP?

The iMac would be significantly cheaper than a 15" rMBP + TBD, slightly more powerful, more upgreadable, quieter under load and harder to steal.

Yes, thought has crossed my mind but i have all the kit now. I got a refurbished TBD at a good price £540 + vat and also means I can bring my work home easily if needed.
