Got a new Haswell 15" rMBP, base model, for 1650,- (from 2029). Pretty nice imo :D

May I ask where from? I saw the 2013 base (iris pro, 8gb, 256) for $1700 on Newegg's ebay store (not newegg.com) and I planned to order it yesterday after I got home from work, but it was sold out. :(

Ok. So I've just seen a load of 13" pop up on the refurb store and I've got one in my cart one:

Originally released February 2013
13.3-inch (diagonal) Retina display; 2560-by-1600 resolution at 227 pixels per inch8GB of 1600MHz DDR3L SDRAM
256GB Flash Storage
720p FaceTime HD Camera
Intel HD Graphics 4000

This is selling for 1269 + tax.

Originally I was down to purchase a current gen version with the same specs and 2.4GHz at 1549. This refurb has 2.6Ghz. Am I getting a steal here? I'm just not too sure what's changed between Feb 2013 and now!

Nope no steal! I got mine 2 days ago, that exact model but $50 more being in Canada. The aluminum body is blemish-less, runs great. Comes nicely packaged but in a plain white box and not the nice Apple decorated packaging.

Refurbished laptops are either returned ones or had something wrong but are fixed and resold. Gets tons of tests, probably more than a brand new device, and is much cheaper. I only bought it because of the refurbished price. You won't be disappointed!

Newest Haswell adds:

1- PCIe SSD (faster than previous interface)
2- Better cooling system: Haswell version runs colder
3- Slightly better battery life (1 hour difference supposedly)
4- Smaller depth (now same as 15" rMBP)
5- 4, 8 & 16GB Ram options (previous one only came with 8GB)
6- Slightly better graphics card

I used to have the old 13" rMBP and highly recommend the Haswell version, but will come down to price and your budget. The Haswell is already appearing at the Apple Store, so if you look often may pickup a nice deal. Check also Ebay (where I bought mine)

Finally!!!

I Finally got my Late 2013 2.3 GHz intel core i7 16 GB Ram with NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M 2048 MB 1TB SSD Macbook Pro. Wow I never thought the retina made such a huge difference until i went back to my wife's 2011 macbook pro computer after using the retina for a while.

It's specific to the Netherlands. Media Markt NL, the biggest electronics chain in the Netherlands, is having it's annual "we pay the tax for you" promotion. They started with it Wednesday at 18:00, it was crazy :D So the price went down from 2029 to ~1650, which suddenly makes the base 15" seem like a good deal (enough ultrabooks cost the same or more, but don't have Quad Core, 47W TDP, Iris Pro and a 15" screen).

Just have to be smart about my storage, but my previous Dell also had a 256GB SSD and I had used just a bit more then half of it.

Long story... now a 13" rMBP!

I decided two weeks ago that I really needed a laptop and that it would be a Mac. There were only two choices: the 11" MBA, for the sheer portability, or the 13" rMBP because of the screen. I doubted and doubted, tried them both out several times in a few shops and finally ordered an 11" MBA last week.

The shop delivered an 11" MBA, but the configuration was not what I had ordered. I informed them, but still unwrapped it and played around for the better part of two days. On one battery, by the way: amazing how long that machine lasted. I loved the size, the keyboard, the trackpad and even the screen. But the way Apple renders fonts, the top of a T and many other horizontals show up blurry on all screens except on retina. Also, I felt I had to scroll all the time because the screen is 16:9. And because it's actually a pretty high resolution for such a small screen, I had to zoom in all the time. So I started to doubt again :)

This morning, I was back in the shop. I compared the screens, the size and the weight and walked out with a 13" rMBP. It's really not much bigger or heavier than the 11", which is a bit of a surprise. But the fonts are perfectly crisp and the 1280x800 resolution (x4) is just perfect for me. I really liked the 11" but I love the 13" rMBP.

My first TimeMachine backup is running and I'm configuring the machine as we speak.

Waiting for delivery today on the late 2013 13" rMBP i5 2.6, 8GB, 512 SSD. Got it for $1709 including a free copy of Parallels 9 and no tax. Awesome deal. Was contemplating between this and the new Air, but wanted to try out the screen. Coming from a 2011 Air which served me extremely well.

Nice! Welcome to the 13" rMBP club! :D

Ordered my refurbished 13" 2.4 GHz i5, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD, Iris Pro last night. $1269. Should arrive by Tuesday, 2/4.

I had originally ordered it Monday, 1/27, but didn't process it because I wanted to go to an Apple store and check out the 15" model and compare them. I did that...liked the 13" more and went home to complete the order from my home PC and not my work computer as I had done originally and it wasn't in my cart! And at that point it had disappeared from the refurb section.

Low and behold, it showed up again this past Friday and I pulled the trigger. Also bought AppleCare for resale value down the line.

Can't wait!

Just purchased the 2.4GHz, 8GB Ram and 256GB SSD MacBook Pro from the refurb section of the store for $1319 CAD. It's the current release, so I'm pretty stoked that I've bagged it at a reduced price!

Just hope I made the right decision going for a refurb rather than brand new. It's my first refurb.

Love my 13inch MacBook Pro it's a great computer and the screen is just fantastic. What actually surprised me was the screen size although it is only 13.3inches it seems bigger not sure why but it's a great computer.

is it retina?

Picked up a late 2013 Haswell 15" rMBP. Standard affair, upgrading from a 2012 15" Ivy Bridge rMBP. Giving the Ivy Bridge to my mother. :)

Did some quick comparison tests, and despite a slower clock speed (2.0 ghz vs. 2.3), the Haswell boots and opens apps faster than the Ivy Bridge. Only thing I'm not wild about is losing the discrete graphics card, but I don't use any graphics-intense apps or games, so I'll happily take the battery gains with the Iris Pro graphics.

Yeah it's awesome! Yesterday I ordered a refurbished rmbp 2013, the base model, $1 150 CAD + tax, so excited!!! Has yours shipped yet?

Not yet. It says delivery scheduled for 12th but it's status is preparing for shipment so hopefully it might be a little sooner than that! What about yours?

I got that same one, CAD, works great so far, can't even tell it isn't brand new.

That makes me feel a lot better. I know everyone says how good the refurbished units are, but there's always that doubt in the back of ones mind. I'm glad to see another positive experience :)

Just ordered a refurbished 15" 2.3 GHz i7, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD, Iris Pro + 750m(2gb). Should arrive by Feb 7! CAD $2250 ($2381 after tax). Happy with the $312 savings from student price at my university.

Was seriously considering ultraportable PC mobile workstation, but couldn't find something portable enough in Canada, and after trying a couple PC systems, couldn't make the switch. Hope this one works well!

Making a switch from a 2010 15" 2.66 i7, 8gb, 128+128SSD, 330m (512mb)

Mine shipped today but the estimate only moved up 1 day to the 11th. I do live a little further out though so it was to be expected! That said, the tracking info hasn't updated yet so I'm hoping for a miracle ;)

Ohh that sucks! As long as you get exactly what you wanted in perfect condition :D

Mine hasn't either, I'll let you know when it does and also where it shipped from :apple:

My custom-ordered 2013 rMBP w/16 GB of RAM came in a day early! It's a huge upgrade over my honking 15" Late-2008 MBP, which is going to my parents now. This machine is so light and thin and I can hook up two external monitors to it! I think I'm in love...
