Just picked up my new 15", 16gb, 512gb monster rmbp this afternoon. Was able to finagle $50 off price at Best Buy by forcing a price match with Amazon.

Still pricey as all get out, but gonna give it a run for a month and see if I can justify keeping it.

Is sure is easy to look at.

I ordered my 13" refurb rMBP on Monday morning (Thanks, Refurb Tracker) - 2.4GHZ, 8GB Ram, 256GB Flash Drive, late 2013 model. It shipped Monday afternoon and I should get it tomorrow (Wed.)! I've had Apple refurbs before and they are just like new. Looking forward to getting it :)

Ah. I'm still down for the 11th. Canadian shipping, eh? I'm all out west though so I guess that's why.

awaiting delivery of 15" rMBP 2.6/16gb/512. Haven't used a Mac of any sort since 1996!!
I guess it will have changed somewhat :)

Ordered what was said to be "new" 15'' base Retina Haswell Macbook Pro from a 3rd party seller on Amazon. Ordered on the 27th, Amazon said the order shipped on the 28th. However, with the tracking information provided, it only shows that the Electronic Info was received on the 29th. Estimated delivery was between Jan 31 and Feb 5. It didn't arrive today, and it's shipping USPS. I've emailed the seller on 3 different occasions with no response yet. My Amazon credit card was charged on the 29th, but I still have no computer. I'm starting to wonder if it was a scam, as it was a very good deal.

If it was through Amazon you should be covered if something goes wrong. Suggest you contact customer service to check more info on whether Amazon shipped the unit or else if was shipped by the seller (think they work with both models depending on the service)

I just got done talking to an Amazon rep. They emailed the seller requesting another computer to be send because mine seemed to be, from what they said word for word, "Lost in Transit." The seller has two days to email me to come up with a solution before Amazon will open a claim and get me my money back. So far their Customer Service department has done a fantastic job, now just to wait on the seller to make a move.

Received my refurbished retina macbook pro 2013 base model, ordered sunday, got it today which is wednesday. I waited for it to get a bit warm since it was freezing cold, waited 2 hours precisely, no problem whatsoever, I'm pretty stoked! Such a nice display, it's unbelievable! :D

Currently tracking my 2.6/256/16 13" rMBP as it slowly makes its' way from Shanghai to the UK. The excitement is getting to me now! :D

I noticed mine too is being shipped from Shanghai.....

Does this mean these things are built to order and shipped direct from the manufacturers? Thats some efficient supply chain if so

New MBP ordered!

I ordered a new 13" MacBook Pro from a UK website called 'Sunley Electronics'. The price was £850!

This is the latest non-retina 'Mid-2013' 13" model with the 2.5GHz i5 and 500GB HDD.

It arrives on Tuesday apparently.

I sold a June 2013 11" MacBook Air as the screen was too small and the 128GB SSD was far too small!

I always love getting a new Mac, but this time I'd like to know what kind of things to installed first etc...

So what should I do first when it arrives?

You should send it back and buy a retina macbook pro haha, the normal macbook pro is seriously outdated.

Don't we think that they'll do the small update to the Retina MBPs this month like they did in Feb 2013?

Just placed my order with B&H yesterday for a MBP retina 13" with upgraded RAM (8GB) and HDD (256GB) - they still list it as out of stock, but customer service told me they're expecting a large shipment of that particular configuration by the end of next week.

Now comes the wait... :(

My pro arrived today, completely unexpected! It's flawless. I would definitely recommend refurbished over anything else.

I love it!

Did you checked Apple refurbished stock?

I just ordered 13" 8gb 256gb model. Tuesday can't come soon enough. Any suggestions on good apps to pick up?

Best buy .edu deals

I have a 2012 MacBook retina base model which runs well, but wanted to make you guys aware of a great deal. Till the 12th if you have a best buy .edu registered account, you can get 150 dollars off of any MacBook Pro, new OR open box.

I just found a midrange 13" haswell MacBook Pro w 256gb of ssd open box for 1218.00 at a local best buy and an extra 150 dollars off brought it down to 1068.00 which was a nice deal, that I figure selling the 2012 and picking this up isn't a bad idea considering batter life and faster (and bigger ssd) for me.

Check your edu emails from best buy, or u can sign up and combine the coupons w the open box deals...the coupon expires on the 12th I think. Really excited about the upgrade...

2013 mba

Just ordered a refurbished 2013 MBA 13" directly through apple. I'm very excited. I maxed out all the features. Was debating between the 11" and 13" with the same specs (8gb, 512gb flash storage, i7 intel) except the 13" comes with 12 hrs battery life rather then 9 hrs on the 11" and the SD slot, for $80 more...not too bad! :apple:

Macmall backorder!

Anyone ever bought from MacMall? I just ordered my late 2013 Haswell rMBP (15" 16gb, 512GB), and I checked the status which says backordered. But my account has already been charged, which I didn't expect before shipping. I hope it ships soon...anyone have experience macmall and backorders? The tax-free purchase was too good to pass up.

I think it's finally safe for me to post in here, as I think I've finally found the MacBook for me.

I bought the MacBook Air 11" in August. I loved the form factor, but then had a need to run a VM or two. This brought the Air (with 4GB) to its knees.

Then the new MBPs were released. I immediately sold my MacBook Air (new enough so minimal loss, thankfully) and got the mid-grade MacBook Pro without much thought. If 16GB models were available locally, I would have bought it, but alas I have a problem with patience, and figured I could get by with 8GB.

Then I had a need to start using the MacBook for work purposes, prior it was just a personal machine. More VMs required, sometimes running simultaneously. VMs that require 4GB of RAM each, unfortunately (Windows + Visual Studio 2013 and various other tools all running at the same time). The 8GB 13" MacBook Pro couldn't handle this very well.

So, I sold this machine late January (luckily once again for minimal loss) and bought a 15" MacBook Pro with 16GB RAM, 2.3ghz i7, 750M, etc. at my local Apple store. I would have purchased another 13" model, but they don't offer 13" with 16GB locally anyware, and this 15" model was available immediately with a short drive (again, horrible patience issue). This handled everything perfectly. However, I'm a very mobile person. I should have handled it first. No amount of research/reading about them can make up for actually holding them. I did the store pickup option through the online store, figuring it would be OK ... it's only a pound heavier, right? I used it for a week and returned it, the thing is just too big compared to the 13" models. The weight wasn't a problem, the size was just too much for me. The 15" feels like a regular / full size laptop, the 13" feels more like an ultraportable to me. I returned the 15" to the Apple store for a refund (no loss this time).

Last Thursday, I ordered a 13" MacBook Pro from B&H (a trustworthy authorized reseller IMO). They stock various 13" models with 16GB RAM and could overnight it to me (have I mentioned my patience issue?) So, I now have the 13.3" model again, with 16GB RAM, 2.6Ghz i5, and 512GB SSD. It runs all the VMs I need simultaneously, it's powerful yet compact, and I do believe I'm (finally) happy. Until Apple releases a 13" model configurable with 32GB of RAM. Ugh.

Bottom line: Happy now, seeking out some patience therapy.
