This thing screams.
That was my same exact impression...the 15" is a speed demon...the 13" is pretty fast too, but not crazy fast like the 15". Having 15.4" of retina real estate + alot of computing speed makes the 15 incher a computer you can look forward to using every day.

Just ordered my first Mac :)

I bit the bullet and ordered a late 2013 MacBook Pro Retina 13" w/ i5 2.4GHz, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD Refurbished unit. I decided to go for the refurb after reading a lot of feedback from this thread. I saved about $150 after taxes (Ontario, Canada). It cost $1,319 before taxes, $1409 after. This is my first Mac which will be replacing my Dell Latitude E4310 (Q1 2010 IIRC) which is disappointing me performance wise these days and the video card often crashes with HD content.

Just signed up for the forums and this is my first post. I've been lurking for a few weeks to absorb information. My estimated delivery date is Feb 27-March 5th. Does anyone have any quick info on how to determine how many charge cycles it went through as well as how to tell if it has a Samsung or LG screen?

Look forward to contributing more to this forum!

Couldn't decide

So I bought both the 15 and 13 (refurbs). I'll end up keeping one, but need to use both for a few days first to see which I'll get use of most.

13 2.6/16/256 - $1739 + tax
15 2.3/16/512 with 750M - $2249 + tax

Love the size of the 13 for around the house portability (I'd rarely commute anywhere with it).
I have a desktop PC so could always do gaming there.
But the extra screen real estate and prospect of gaming anywhere I want in the house meant I just had to also try out the 15 specked out. Also, wanted to get more into video editing, etc.
but then again $600 price difference between them.
I'll keep the one that I end up picking up the most over the course of a few days.

So excited!

I just received my refurbished 15.4-inch MacBook Pro 2.0GHz Quad-core. I purchased a refurbished unit after multiple exchanges for display issues with the brand new ones. So far I'm not seeing any issues with the display and I also got a surprise upgrade to 16GB of ram.:D

We have both, for moving around the house you will like the 13" my 15" mainly sits on my desk. Still no problem to move though.

The 15" isn't all that heavy, really, if you'll looking for a laptop with portability. It's actually the lightest laptop I have ever own! I don't think you would go wrong with purchasing the 15", if you're looking for a laptop with a bigger screen. I was debating the 13" when I was looking at the laptops in store, but I am so happy I went with 15" instead!

It's also not the weight too, but the footprint of the 15. Anyways, will have to see. I'm going to try and use the 15 the most and then see if I find it too cumbersome. Would be real nice to have the larger screen and be able to game on it.

Refurb rMBP 13/8/512 scheduled to arrive tomorrow

I ordered the Oct 2013 rMBP 13/8/512 Feb 14 after missing it a few times. I finally decided to quit holding out for the 16.

Ship to store apparently takes forever, but with any luck it will arrive tomorrow. My current 2010 MBA 11 will be relegated to household shared laptop duties, I think. It will also be returned to duty for travel this summer.

w00t my refurb 2.6ghz/16gb/512 should be here Friday according to UPS. I can't wait :D wish I would have thought to pay the extra $14 for faster shipping though. Not sure if express checkout even has that option(its how I managed to get my hands on one). The next few days are going to be torture.

I just hope I don't wind up having to send it back as I bought it by emptying my checking account expecting a financial aid payment from my school to cover the cost shortly. They cant seem to make up their damn mind on my eligability. As of now they are denying me again. The California university/college system is so dysfunctional :(

It's here!

New baby finally arrived at the store this afternoon, conveniently while I was within walking distance.

Currently migrating data from TM backup. Stuck on the old one for another 23 min. Or 43. Or 14. Typical bouncing time estimate.

Just tracked it via UPS. It's at a local depot with a scheduled delivery date of tomorrow!

Ordered a base rMBP with customised 512GB SSD upgrade on Sunday. Says dispatched in 1-3 business days. Hoping it's posted soon. I'm impatient. :D

So I've received both of mine and am currently evaluating over the next 14 days which one to keep.

Great news on the 13" though, as Apple gave me the gift of TWO free upgrades on it!!
Instead of the i5 2.6/16/256, I received a i7 2.8/16/512. WOOT! So faster CPU and larger ssd.
That alone makes it a far better deal than the 15", so now to make sure it can run some of the games I want it to play.
(Have to say though, the 15's screen is gorgeous)

Wow, congratulation!! I have never been so lucky.

Sure makes the decision harder, but with those upgrades on the 13in, I would keep it.

After waiting all day for UPS to deliver my new rMBP, it finally arrived at 8pm last night.

So far I love it! I hadn't caught up on the tech news yesterday and was surprised to see the OSX 10.9.2 update was available. I updated OSX and all the other apps that were pending before I started to really play with it. Just tinkered with some settings so far and installed Dropbox, Black Magic Disk Test and Coconut battery app.

My unit is 1 week old according to Coconut and has had 5 battery cycles. It was getting late so I went to bed. Exciting to play with it some more tonight. It will be an interesting transition from Windows 7 to OSX.

Refurb Late 2013 13" rMBP, 2.4GHz i5, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD

I Just got my Late 2013 15" Macbook Pro Retina yesterday. So far I have had no issues whatsoever. The screen is nice and bright. And i have not seen any yellow tint on my screen. Its also a LG display. I Just wanted to assure everyone that not all the retina displays are flawed.

Also Forgot to say that I bought the 15" 2.3/16gb/512gb gt 750m for $2350 at BestBuy by using the college student promotion code on top of their $2499 price

My refurb Macbook Pro has arrived! Ordered it from the apple store site along with the 3-year Apple Care warranty. This is one beast of a machine! This thing screams. Couldn't be happier. Saved over $200 by getting a refurb model! :D

Checked Coconut battery and found out it was charged only 5 times and was manufactured just 4 weeks ago! Also relieved to find out it has the Samsung display and not LG, the latter which is prone to defects.

I thought long and hard about the 13" vs. 15" inch. Ultimately I decided I would appreciate the extra screen real estate and dedicated graphics to work with media and play games, on my 2013 Intel i7 2.3 Ghz Quad core, 16 GB, 512 SSD configuration. Now I'm just waiting for my refurb thunderbolt display to arrive. :)

My life has been changed.:apple:

"this thing screams" yet its a picture of a clock LOL i just found that pretty funny.

isn't it beautiful? love it. I just bought some cheap(er) 27inch monitors to go with this. Its actually a downgrade to the 27 inch monitor in terms of screen quality/resolution bc the macbook is like 1800 while the 27 inch monitor is only 1080 lol.

been playing all my games in high, photoshop looks amazing as well when I edit my photos

good buy. I bought the Belkin Thunderbolt Express Dock as well so i only have to connect one cable to the computer instead of everything.

Just got the 15" Fully loaded MacBook Pro.. Amazing.

This is impressive too
