Picked up the base 15" rMBP from BestBuy for $1687 after tax with student discount and movers discount. Cheaper than a refurb from Apple.

Just ordered the top base 15 inch refurbished. This is my first refurbished machine, and I wouldn't have purchased one a few weeks ago, but after hearing nothing but good things about them here, I decided to save some money and try one out. Should be here on Monday!

Purchased a new rMBP 15inch/16/512 model from the store. Got 200$ of corporate discount on it and hence able to make some savings.

I am new to Mac environment and it is my first experience with it. Didn't got much chance to play with it, but whatever little I played with it, really loving the screen display and the speed of SSD(boots the OS in 10 seconds or less). OS is very smooth and its design language speaks for itself.

Will be exploring the OS in next few weeks to come and then move on from windows to Mac OS altogether. Need it for my professional use (No audio or video editing). Will be using it to create VMs running Linux OS and hence not bothered about the GPU and all discussion of around broadwell and wait for it. 16 gb of RAM and 512 gb of SSD will make me use it for next 3 years atleast.

This my second one...13in 2012 and 15in late 2013 you won't be able to tell from new.

New Macbook Pro

I just got a new Macbook Pro 15'' 2.3/16/512 since Apple started the back to school sale promotion today. This is my first mac! :D

Everyone seems to be buying their new mac whether new or refurb. And is really nice to know that many first time owner of mac. I myself fall into this category too. Well, I guess is a long time to wait for the new release of MBP till early 2015 due to the late release of "Broadwell" chip. Everybody really pull the trigger now. Cheers Macs! :)

Got the 13" rMBP 8gb/256gb last night from Best Buy. It was originally 1499, I used the $150 student discount and a 10% movers coupon for $285 off. Price was $1,214 plus tax!

Amazon has this model on sale for $1400, best buy will match.

New Refurbished Late 2013, rMBP 2.4/8/256 from Apple store

Hadn't set up a new Mac in a few years, what a breeze using Time Capsule Back up via WIFI. 190gb transferred in about an 1 1/2 hours.

This is a good deal! How did you get that?

The macbook pro was $130 off from BestBuy. If you have an .EDU email you can get a coupon for an extra $150 off. There is also a mover's coupon (go to your post office) for an extra 10% and that's how I stacked the discounts. I also have a tax exempt card so I didn't have to pay tax.

Just got my new Retina MBP 13"

I like it, but noticed a few things that were either odd, or changed..

- Coming from 15'-Mid 2012 model, i first notice banners on websites, etc... "blown up" kind of. (maybe it was just the images)

- A few apps i used on the 15-inchlike Filzilla had much more space under the Progress window, where as on the 13' u basically had to resize just to make everything fit nicely... (shouldn't be required)

- Apple removed the battery indicator on the side with LED's to show current battery charge capacity. I used this all the time.

- Apple moved from the new "L" shaped, back to the previous "T" shaped power adapter connector style in the old days..

The only different is its smaller and they say "Megasafe adapter 2", which to customers means "new", only its not... its just old style, but smaller.

Apart from that, its much lighter than my previous gen MBP. Got the Thule sleeve, and fits everything i need.

Got my first macbook today. Been saving ever since I got my new job in january and finally plucked up the courage to spend £2199. It was a great feeling walking out of the apple shop with my brand new toy. As I am only 20 the guy looked at me a bit weird and I got the impression he thought my card would decline when paying for it lol.

Happy days though, proud owner of Iphone 5s, Ipad 3, Ipod 2nd gen and now a macbook pro retina :)

Props to you mate, you've earned it!

I'm 20 too, but no way could I afford £2199, let alone if that was in euro!

It'll be a lowly 13" rMBP for me :p

after got my Retina. battery life started at fully charge of only 4 hours... time was going up, not down...

after about 10 minutes it was up to 10 hours on battery, did an SMC reset and now all good. getting about 16 hours fully charged :) Wahoooo!!...

Apple was waayy of their 9 hour wireless web. I dunno what kind of testing they do on the i5, but whatever it is, it's pretty bad estimate.

Thanks :) I saved for a good 6 months to get one. Was originally going to wait until the 2014 MBP were out but their not even annouced yet so just got a late 2013 model. :)

Had to take it back today though, was getting white lines when on the launch pad and around the screen and the guy at the store said it was a graphic fault so replaced it for me there and then. Abit annoyed though as i just got it set up when the fault happened.

Well be thankful you've an Apple Store near you where you can throw in and get it replaced then and there. Here in Ireland we have to ship it off and wait, unless you head to Belfast to the store there.

I'm sure the one you have now will be dead-on, though.

Just got my refurb today!

Except I'm a stupid idiot, and ordered the wrong configuration, so it's now returned to the Apple store. I bought the refurb last week, and assumed since it was the same price as a model that was on the store previously, it must have been the same. I was wrong.

Gotta read the details before dropping over 2 grand.

Also, thank goodness for Apple's lenient return policy.

Yeah I guess I am lucky really, wouldn't of been able to go to take it back though if it wasn't for my boyfriend driving me there. Otherwise id of had to wait until this weekend as I don't finish work until 6.

That would of been an expensive mistake otherwise aye?

Just walked out of Best Buy with a 13" rMBP 2.6/8/512 for $1509 out the door!

Thanks to the member on here who gave me a student discount, and thanks USPS for the movers coupon...

Nice thing is, if anything is released or seriously rumored in the next 45 days I can return this guy and patiently wait for something new. I don't see any huge improvements that will mean anything to me.

Picked up my 13" rMBP 8/256 this past weekend. Best laptop I've ever owned. It just flies through everything I do.

Bought a brand new Retina Macbook Pro and 2 year Applecare warranty. Bought it as a replacement/upgrade to my 2006 Macbook C2D, which was literally falling apart (plastic breaking off, cracking, lcd display dying, completely dead battery). I got the base model MBP with the 2.4 i5, 120GB SSD, 4 gigs of ram.

I also got the student discount on the laptop and the Applecare, plus a 100 dollar gift card.

Overall I am extremely happy, it is a beautiful computer.
