I've been waiting on buying a MBP for over a year now, pretty much since I heard about Haswell when I was doing my research. Hoping I could wait it out as long as possible.

Sadly my late 08' Alu MB is struggling processor and memory wise so figured it was time to move on up.

Just bought a refurb late 13' retina with 8gb & 256gb sdd.

Can't wait for it to arrive, I've been desperate for something fast for about 6 months!

I desperately want to spend more and try and justify getting a 16gb one but alas I can't. I figure if in a years time I'm getting close to wanting something better I'll sell it while it's value is still pretty high!

I picked up a 15" Late 2013 with 2.3 GHZ i7/16 GB RAM/512 GB/NVIDIA 750M yesterday i absolutely love it.. makes my 2011 iMac seem like crap. gonna have upgrade it soon.

Just ordered my first Mac.

13" 2.4/8/256 retina. Getting it knocked down to £1000 (plus the free £60 gift card and 3 year warranty through the education store) because I complained about them withdrawing 0% finance to students.

With all the rumours about Broadwell being delayed until early next year I'm happy with the deal I got all things considered, especially if the next refresh does prove to be an insignificant CPU increase.

Well I did it. I exchanged my base retina MBP for the 8 gig/256 gig model on the last day of the return period. All I had to do was pay the difference.

Recently replaced my Early 2011 13'' MBP. Took the recent high end Haswell 15'' rMBP and bumped the processor from 2.3 Ghz to 2.6 Ghz yet didn't go all out to 1 TB of storage because of my AirPort Time Capsule.

This is my first post here, though I've been reading and following for a few years.

Just bought a 15" Macbook Pro Retina 256GB SSD, 16GB RAM, 2.3 GHZ processor, Iris Pro graphics for business school. Got it from Adorama for $2300 including tax and applecare which is better than I could have done through the Apple education store with the $100 gift card.

This is replacing a 2012 13" Macbook Air, which I love, but retina and the larger screen is too much to pass up.

I'm really happy right now and can't wait until it arrives!

Late 2011 MBP

I bought a late 2011 15" MBP with the GPU solder issue from a buddy. I went to the Apple Store and sent it out for depot repair and I will hopefully have it back some time early next week. (He just bought a brand new top of the line, rMBP 15")

It has the 2.4ghz i7, 16gb of ram, a 256gb SSD, and a 6770m to top it all off. :D

(Yes, I took out the 16gb and SSD and put in the original 4gb+HDD before I sent it in so they can't possibly be nicked by the depot)

This is the first Mac I have owned since 2010 and the first MacBook that I've owned since 2009. I'm looking forward to using it as my main machine.

I have never owned any of the 15" models; normally I'm a fan of ultrabook sized models but my living situation makes something along the lines of a desktop replacement more useful these days.

I'm curious, is there a ThunderBolt adapter that would allow me to pass-through all three connectors on the 24" CD so I would only ever have to plug in power and Thunderbolt to dock at my desk? I don't exactly have the money for a new Thunderbolt display.

Just picked it up!

I just picked up my first laptop, a brand new late 2013 rMBP 13" 8gb/128gb. Wow, is this thing blazing fast! I guess I was comparing it to my old 2006 iMac that died a while back, where you could walk away and use the bathroom or get a snack when rebooting, but I didn't expect a computer that boots in 5 seconds, lol. It's a very nice machine, impressive. And that screen  I dunno, should I upgrade to the 256 or just leave it? I don't know how much that would be to upgrade, have to research it I guess. Is there any performance difference with the higher storage, or is that just if you start to approach the drive being full or something. I'm really not even sure if I would use it, with everything in the cloud nowadays.

Great..

I ordered my Macbook Pro Retina 16GB/512/750M:apple: 3 weeks ago but when I got it, it seem to had a defect and I got a replacement today.

YOU WON'T BELIEVE THIS:
My replacement mbpr has a small but noticeable dent on the back :( it also has some very fine scratches on the top.

What would you guys do, demand another replacement or just use the MBP and try to get money back or something? Can't believe that the control quality is this bad :(

I guess you are right about that! I even took Applecare and CPU upgrade with it so I paid even more than 2500!:apple:

I just really hope that my next Macbook replacement will be 'perfect'
and with perfect, I just mean a great screen panel, no dents or scratches :)
and of course a great technical condition

It looks like it would be exactly $100 to upgrade to the full mid-tier 13" pro. Is that worth it? Is there any other difference between the two?

don't really matter that much about the cpu speed but do get the 8gb ram

keep us posted. if this one is messed up too then contact apple directly and get some compensation :)

The "I just ordered / bought / got my new/refurb MBP" threads, merged

Picked up an awesome deal on eBay for $1800 on a 2013 rMBP 2.3Ghz/16GB/512GB GeForce GTX 750M 2GB :)

Works great and looks brand new too!

New 2013 Macbook Pro Here!

Hey Guys,

Thought I'd do a fun post for once. I've been on these forums for a few years, and bought a gently used mid-2009 Macbook Pro a few years back (now with a new SSD + Optibay). Thanks to everyone on these forums for all the help with all my questions and problems over the years.

I posted a few weeks back that work was buying me a new computer, and I spec'd out a new mid-2013 Retina Macbook Pro. Just got everything set-up, and I must say I'm really enjoying it so far....definitely compared to my 2009 Macbook Pro! I don't have any plans on getting rid of my 2009 Macbook Pro, since that's my personal machine...but I must say the speed and screen alone of the Retina is awesome.

Anyway, just wanted to share the news. If you guys are curious, I could do a mini brain dump between both machines, but I'm sure that's been done hundreds of times already.

Thanks again for the continued help and support! =)

Thanks,
Asif

Just ordered my Mid 2014 dGPU rMBP. Which is basically a Late 2013 but I can call it Mid 2014! Still, the price cut is nice.

Ordered a Mid 2014 13" rMBP i7 with 16GB RAM. :D
My 2012 Air is still for sale in the members market by the way. :p

Just ordered the top spec 15" with the 2.8 cpu. Don't suppose there are any Geekbench on these yet.

Are you calling the refurb models which today received a price cut a 'mid 2014 model'? Do you think this would have any effect when it comes to re-selling?

Cheers

They have been upgraded, even if it is slightly. And yes I think it would.
