First MacBook

Purchased my first MacBook last week here in Dubai... After using windows desktop/laptops for around 12 years, I wanted to switch to Mac to replace my dying dell laptop.

I bought the mid 2014 MacBook pro 128 gb and 1 tb Seagate hard drive at a discount of 15% from the original price as part of clearance sale. All the stores are now gearing up to stock the new 2015 MacBooks.

For my needs of web browsing, movies, light photo editing (once in a while), watching a lot of videos, light gaming and reading, 128 gb seemed more than enough. I normally shift my movies after watching to my external storage. Same with softwares, photos, music etc as otherwise even 512 gb will seem less with our growing needs of storage. Obviously I saved the money to buy more external storages :)

Am planning to install Microsoft excel so that I can do some office work in my MacBook at home. Using a MacBook is a pleasure compared to a windows laptop..

I'm beyond excited...just put in my order yesterday with B&H. After much research, my config is 13/2.9/16/256. Better yet, I didn't have to wait 2 weeks from Apple. Looking to keep this rMBP for at least 3 years.

After placing an order and then later cancelling it almost 2 weeks ago, I decided to go for it this time, placed an order yesterday (on Fri) and it got shipped on the same day, should arrive on 30th or 31st.

Went with base 2.7 GHz/8GB RAM/256GB SSD model.

The more time I spend coding, the less I like Air's screen, so that's why I went for it, the jump from Intel HD 5000 to Iris 6100 is a nice plus, gonna make playing Diablo 3 more pleasant.

Now I just need to look for a decent and affordable Thunderbolt external storage solution with RAID.

I've received today my macbook pro with the bad luck of opening the box and finding it has a small dent on the aluminu cover on the bottom. This is a BTO I did through a third party store. Should I be able to go direct to apple store and get it replaced or should I go the the store I bought it?

Just got my first Mac yesterday!
Got a refurbished mid-2014 rMBP 13" and I'm ecstatic about my new machine :D
Of course I'm still learning how to get around the system because I never owned one and I'm also shocked at how expensive Mac apps are -_- I thought I'd be spending like $10 in average per app but apparently I had no idea!
Also shopping for some accessories, got the Logitech t630 mouse and the logitech solar power keyboard K760! Besides apps prices, I'm so happy :)

Ordered mine last Wednesday.

13'' rMBP 2,9/16GO/500SDD with a nice raid 2TO thunderbolt HDD. Pretty prompt to ship tho.

But since i made the mistake of allowing my orders to be "merged", i won't get any tracking until my package reaches europe and it will take a couple more days to process... huh..

Hope i get it real quick, cause i'm currently stuck with an awfull beer spilled 2011 MB & i actually need a decent computer to make a living.

My 2 cents.

That is interesting your local Apple store had this particular configuration in stock, as mine didn't (although I will admit I didn't actually call and check with them, just did a quickie search on the website).

I hear you on the "too similar" thing.....had to work my way through a lot of thinking and planning and looking ahead to the future to actually justify this particular purchase. So far I am delighted, although of course I haven't really put her through all of her paces yet and haven't even finished setting up everything. Right now, anyway, she's a gem and performing to expectation and beyond!

I also checked online to see if my store had any in stock and online it told me they didn't. I went into the store the next day and wanted to check it out to see if i would want to order it configured the way id like or not and asked the lady to check their inventory and low and behold they had a 3.1/16/512 in the store. I wasn't much concerned with the 3.1 part but i figured since i was getting the education discount i wouldn't have a problem and didn't want to wait.

Very excited! Ordered my new 13" rMBP 3.1/16/256, it's already reached Tennessee and should be here on Thursday!

This will be replacing my Mid 2011 MBA 1.8/8/256.

My Macbook is at the ...

... Apple store and I am out of town now until Wednesday night! I wish i had known it would hit today, I would have grabbed it on my way out. I ordered a 2015 rMBP i7/16/512 cant wait to see if it performs better than my late 2013. If not appreciably better, I may return it as I am finding resale on my stock 256GB 2013 rMBP is not going to be that good based on initial response from craigslist posts. I may have to use ebay.

So I got a used mid 2014 rMBP and I loved it so much, I went out and got a 2015 model. 13.3 2.7ghz with 8gb ram and 256ssd. Man this thing cooks. The drive speeds are awesome. Man I love it. I was a PC guy a few weeks ago. Never again. I got it all setup, and the battery life is just amazing.

The rMBP I ordered (2.7GHz/8GB/256GB) just arrived.

Force touch is amazing, it really feels like I'm actually clicking, that's all I've been doing mostly, it's in the process of restoring from Time Machine backup.

Headed to MicroCenter today, picked up a mid 2014 Mac Pro, 13 inch Retina, 2.6 GHZ i5, 8gb ram, 256gb flash drive.

I retired my 2011 MacBook Air...

I am in love with the screen on this Pro :)

My early 2015 13" rMBP will be arriving tomorrow -- an early birthday gift to myself! I'm getting the 3.1 GHz i7, 16 GB RAM, 512 SSD flash storage. I have had and dearly love the 13.3" rMBP (late 2013), but really need more space than the 256 SSD has been able to give me. Am I excited much?! LOL!

My stars, that thing must fly! I am thrilled with the 2014 2.6 GHZ with 8GB and 256 SSD, that I got today,,so much better than my 2011 Air.

Ordered my first 13" rMBP yesterday, so freakin excited! I've been wanting to make the move to mac for a while now just never had the chance or budget too. Since this will be my college laptop it'll definitely be worth the $1,399 I spent on the 256gb tax free :p Can't wait for monday to come by!

Just ordered a new MBP 15" / 16GB / 1TB since I'm resigning from my job and must give up my current MBP of the same specs. The new one is 2014 2.2 GHz / Iris Pro vs my 2013 2.3 GHz / Nvidia. I'm hoping I can just use my Time Machine backup to restore to the new machine when it arrives. :D

Bought a 13' rMBP 2015 yesterday. It's an awesome machine. But after reading that several people I personally know have severe problems with the AR coating on the display, I have almost lost all joy in using this very pricy machine.

About to pull the trigger on a new 13" rMBP. Can't wait. Probably going to pick one up from the Apple Store tonight.

I ordered my 13" 2015 rMBP 2.9/16/256 on Monday. It's shipping to a local Apple Store because an office move will make next week complicated; It shipped last night, and I'm a bit bummed that there's no tracking information, only "Shipping to Store." Where do these BTO machines usually come from? Could it arrive earlier than next Thursday?

I'm pretty sure that you will get an e-mail indicating that it is ready for pick up and you can pick it up in store you choose. I believe build to order may come directly from the factory.

Today received my rMBP 2015 (256). Loving the retina display and force trackpad. My 2012 Mac mini is upstairs with a 21" display attached, but I'm not sure it is going to get much use anymore...

Earlier today I fired up my 2009 Mac Mini in order to deauthorize it in iTunes, noticed that I had a bunch of updates to run, too, but most importantly noticed how danged slow it is compared to my rMBP or even the 2012 iMac! I haven't really used the Mac Mini much since getting the iMac in the spring of 2013 and now will be really retiring the thing since I know I won't be using it at all any more.

ETA: I have now killed off the Mac Mini and laid her to rest......she served me well for quite a few years and now her successors carry on.......
