Finally got my 2015 rMBP BTO.

The screen is very disappointing... Yellow tint overall, yellow spot on the middle. Poor contrast, not enough luminosity. Smh...

I'm going to return it. My white 2010 macbook screen is better looking than this one :eek:

Can't believe it. :(

Out of curiosity what is the model number of your display?

My new BTO MBPr 13 - 2.9 MHZ 16GB RAM 1 TB HD just arrived. Wasn't due until Wednesday by UPS but seemed to get a fast plane from China - even came in via Dublin instead of normal route of East Midlands and Belfast as UK Bank Holiday so they got it into N. Ireland by road. Surprised by the speed of delivery. Very impressed with it so far.

hi ! I got a A029. Do you know if it means LG or Samsung ?

I don't think anyone knows. However in multiple apple stores I've noticed that all the floor models had the A02A display and I assume they would want the machines with the best displays on the floor. In much the same way that with the 2014 models the apple stores had A018 vs other model displays on the floor.

Okay ! Wonder how much time they spend opening boxes & sorting the displays.. Do you think i should enter the replacement lottery. Or just return this one & order another one ?

Thank you

As much time and effort is required to make sure a subpar screen isn't on display in the showroom. Im sure it's no coincidence that all the display United have the same display model number.

If your screen is as bad as you described then you have nothing to lose by exchanging it. Sounds like it can't really get any worse. I say exchange it if you are not happy, it's fully within your right to.

Mmm maybe i should try this. But since my MBP is a BTO do you know if they will only replace the screen at the store or gave me a complete refurbished unit ? The way they did with iPhones.

If you're within your 14 day return period just return your laptop and order a new one. It wouldn't make sense to ask for a screen replacement or a refurb when you can exchange for a brand new machine.

Yes indeed. Just got off the phone with Apple. They send me a brand new one. (almost) No questions asked. They were really nice & understood the problem right away. Offered me a 100eu voucher for my trouble.

Pretty cool.

Thanks for your help Diesel !

So I just joined the rMBP club!

Coming from a 2012 Air. I really had my eye on the new Macbook, but the effective real estate of 1152 x 720 was just not going to cut it for me-- To many tools I have to use for work require 1366 x 768 minimum. I could scale, but scaling on that GPU scares me.

So instead I just pulled the trigger on a brand new 2015 13" rMBP and it sure is beautiful! I'm still getting used to the added size and thickness compared to my Air. But the Retina display really makes up for it.

I might still take a look at the Macbook when it's released. I will still be in my return window and might consider exchanging if the screen real estate or scaling turns out to not be a problem. But I'm not expecting that.

Anyway, just wanted to say hi! I see now why this is such a popular machine!

Edit: I guess I will need to update my signature :)

So I've spent about a month working out what to replace my 4-year-old-Air with.

I've just been in the Apple store in Covent Garden and bought the (almost) maxed-out Retina 13" 512/16/i7. I don't need the i7 but I wanted the RAM upgrade and I wanted to buy in-store - and that's the config they stock.

It's in it's box downstairs, waiting...

It seems I can't tear myself away from the Air even now.

I'm thinking I might do the same thing. Is it worth it do you think?

Went into an Apple store today, that new trackpad is a great piece of tech. Actually thought I was looking at an old MacBook as it felt identical to my MacBook Air

My first new mac since 2009!

I picked up a 13" base model, and coming from a 2009 17" macbook pro, I love it. The screen is a real bonus, and it is a big step up in speed from the old laptop.

I only really use it for garageband and a few games, plus MS Office, but so far its perfect.

Got to get myself a Nifty mini drive now, as 128GB isnt a whole lot :D

Didn't want to make a new thread about this but what apps or programs do yall suggest for graphic design on my new loaded beast 13'

I managed a day before opening it, mainly because the wife thought it was the first thing I would do, so I pretended to not be interested. Actually I was just enjoying the moment :)

LOL! I opened mine straightaway and did the preliminary setup stuff but then did not go any further, since I would be away from home for a couple of days. Once I was home again I resumed making my new machine be really "mine," by finishing up the setting up of various things and now she really is truly usable with my email, photos, documents and music all accessible on here now.

Finally getting around to playing with my new rMBP. Night and day difference from my late 2007 MacBook. This is an amazing machine.

The retina display is pretty damn amazing. I think you just gotta try it out. I've used mine for two days now and I don't think I can go back to a non-retina display. I don't even want to use my 24" 1920 x 1200 external monitor anymore. I'd rather use my cramped 13" screen because it looks so nice!

so i just looked into the screen 'mmod' thing and the last four are

A02A

being that the ones we mentioned in the stores have that number we can assume that it is possibly the better of the screens available?
