So I bought the base 2016 13" MacBook Pro without TB. I had a 1st gen 15" rMBP and ended up selling it because it had too many issues (My very first Mac ever). I purchased a 1st gen Retina 5K iMac and have had no issues. I have a 15" Asus 4k Zenbook but wanted something that's ultra portable and wanted to see if I just had bad luck with my first MacBook. I love it so far. It fits most of my needs perfectly. I was a little worried about only having 8gb of ram but I find it just fine. I made sure to buy a cover for it and have been happy ever since. I have yet to purchase any dongles. No regrets and since I got it on sale for $200 off MSRP I am more than satisfied.
I was intrigued by the 12 MacBook Pro when it was first released but it was underpowered and I felt the price wasn't justified. This laptop has the same appeal but it's more powerful and it has an actual Intel Core processor. I can't wait to do some traveling with this thing.

The keys on my refurbed 13" TB model don't sound uniform - there's almost like some bunches of keys on the left and right of the keyboard which sound different when depressed compared to the rest. I guess it could be something, could be nothing....

You could send it back and request another one. You have a 14 day return policy, not including the weekends.

Made this chart so it helps anyone stuck between choosing the 13" vs the 15" and portability is their main concern. Hope it helps !

Hello,

I'm a developer (web/Windows/mobile) and I'm getting sick of Windows. I currently have a MSI GS60 Ghost (i7, 16GB RAM, 128 + 512 SSD, GTX860M) which is almost perfect. I just need a more compact laptop with a better battery life.

I want to give a try to the MacOS experience but I also want a discrete graphic card to be able to play some games occasionally as I don't play as often as before. So I decided to buy a 2016/2017 (Radeon Pro 450) 15" Macbook Pro instead of the 2015 one.

However, I'm really worried about the keyboard issue on new Macbook Pro and that's why I'm waiting for the next Apple conference just in case they release an updated Macbook Pro with eventually fixed early issues.

I never had a Mac before. And I don't know if the 2015 Macbook Pro with AMD Radeon M370X is okay or not (heat, durability..). Have you guys got any advice?

Thanks a lot.

i think you are doing a right thing by waiting. I dont know about games that run on MacOS but you can surely install windows as bootcamp and play games on the mac. i am also waiting for the WWDC so that i could see what upgrade does Apple has to offer. and also Welcome to the bright side.

Yesterday, a famous French store sent informations about discounts some customers could have and they wrote in the very bottom "except for June 2017 Apple's new products". I hope the Mac is one of the new products.
(Sorry for eventuals mistakes, I struggled to write this haha. English isn't my native language)

And thanks for welcoming me !

MacOS isn't really good for gaming. Unless you play Dota 2, Counter Strike, and similar games. But that is what Bootcamp is for.

I would also wait for new MBP. Not just for keyboard, but for fixes to usual rev1 product glitches and bugs.
But I would advise you to give it a real shot. I am a .NET and mobile developer, and by chance I had to use iMac 27 for 4 weeks. Prior to that I couldn't adjust to OS X. But after using it without windows for that time, I've dropped windows entirely. I suggest you use parallels when developing for windows (VM), and bootcamp when you want to game.

It will feel strange at first, and you will probably try to make MacOS to run and look like Windows. I know I did, and a lot of switchers I know tried to do the same. But don't be like that, you will fail. Mac OS ≠ Windows. And that is a good thing. They both have their weaknesses and strengths, you just have to find out what suits you best.

Hi,

The games I mainly play are Heroes of the Storm, Krosmaga, Warcraft III (available on Mac) and Dungeon Defender 2 + some light games from Steam. And yes I planned to install Windows via Bootcamp for Windows only games. What prevented me from buying a Mac before was the lack of Microsoft Visual Studio for comfortable .NET development but as soon as Microsoft released Visual Studio for Mac, the game changed.

I know they are completely different OS, and that's why I don't understand why there is such a "war" between MacOS and Windows aficionados. Globally, I like Windows 10. But to be honest, I'm tired of all of those little details that make the Windows experience frustrating. Especially the fact that I can't cancel Windows updates because I don't have a powerful internet connection. That's no big deal and I know it's for the good but as I said, it's frustrating. I'd like to choose when I want to download the updates. And this is an example among others.

Just bought a used late 2013 MBP 15 from craiglsit. Man this thing is so nice. It was so well taken care of by the owner. Came in the box and all the accessories still wrapped up like a brand new one. The specs are 2.3 i7 with 16Gb ram and 512SSD and i paid $800. Not bad! the guy was selling to get a new ones to be announced at WWDC next week.

It's good to have a Mac again!

I've sold mine, same config like yours, just 4-5 days ago. For a 1400$ (US $). Prices range from country to country, and I could make a living in my own country if I had your purchase prices, and import them to my own country and resell :D

Just ordered a 15" MBP with KabyLake-CPU and US-Keyboardlayout. (2,9GHz,512GB SSD, Pro 560)
The German-Keyboard is IMO rubbish for a programmer.
No [,],|,{,} printed on the keys and they are in such a unnormal position compared to a regular German-PC-Keyboard...

Not sure why I have to wait two weeks for the US-Layout, when the German-Layout would be delivered in under one week...

I just ordered fully specs Macbook Pro 15' with 1tb ssd in UK after they opened the Apple Store for Education. It is estimated to come between 16 and 20 June. It will be my first mac ,hope it is worth waiting. :D

Note: I ordered it with US keyboard not UK that is why i wait so much

I ordered 15" 2.8/16/512/555 shows still processing...delivery June 16 could I get it by next Friday? I can't wait. I pray the keyboard issue has been fixed.

Yesterday, right when the store opened back up, I ordered a fully maxed out 15" MBP. I'd had money saved since the release of the 2016 model, which I ordered then canceled. I won't cancel this time. Delivers 16 Jun, 2017 - 20 Jun, 2017 to NYC as of now. I was hoping it would get here earlier (and knowing Apple, it could) as I'm going out of town that weekend. I'll tell you how it goes. Looking forward.

Ordered a 2015 15" 512GB refurb. New models knocked its price down a little, and I cannot stand the TouchBar. In fact, other than the performance and the screen, I despise the new MBPs, and that was after a month of using one full time.
