Just got my hands on the 2017 13" MBP with TB. Excited to replace my old machine from early 2011 (with all these ports...)

Typing on a new refurb 2015 15 inch rMBP w/dGPU. Managed to snag one on the Apple refurb store a week ago. Coming from the early 2013 model. Is it just me or does the speakers sound different? Not necessarily better or worse, just different.

I'll be using this for 2 years, so hopefully the touch bar will have matured by then.

I got a very bad experience on my first mac purchace. I received a new mbp that comes with a chipped edge. Now I hv to return and wait for the replacement.

The user support is very helpful on the case but im very disappointed on the quality control of apple.

Just ordered a tbMBP 13" 16GB w/ 256GB. Est. delivery July 11-13. Hopefully sooner, because I'm not a patient person, at all ;)

Hey,
Have you received it yet? My replacement going to an Apple Store is due around then but I can't track it. Hoping it arrives earlier !
Can you track yours online?

My MacBook Pro is in Anchorage, AK, hoping to get it Monday before some big jobs next week.

I ordered a 15" MBP, 3.1ghz i7, 16GB, Radeon 560/4GB, 2TB in Space Grey. My wife is starting to do voice over work so I am giving her my 2013 13" retina 2.8ghz, 16GB 1TB.

A bit long but...
I planned on if I ever buy a Laptop/Notebook again after that Windows fiasco  I had in the past, it'll be a Mac.
Windows Machines gotten better over the years Software not so much, tho. If I want WinOS on-the-go there is Bootcamp or VM's for that :D..., but what if I can't get used to or don't like MacOS o_O.

The struggle got real  figuring out which MBP to buy, a nTB or TB 13" or 15" well the new MBP's are smaller so the 15" isn't that much of a difference compared to 13" rMBP 2015, but there is the whole #dongleLife :( too.
After checking the web for reviews and watching YouTube videos of unboxing, benchmarking, comparisons and
3-6 months later reviews I aimed for 15" max 7thGen-CPU + d/GPU, 512GB to a 1TB .

Then there were the  refurbished Sky-lakes but only with a 455-2GB d/GPU at my GeoLocation, so I waited and watched some Tech videos till I figure it out , and stumbled over talks about AMD's ThreadRipper and INTEL's Coffee Lake/ Cannon Lake/ Glenview rumours, and AMD's Vega announcement on WWDC almost forgot that one ;), so by then I figured to just wait for next MBP lineUp 2018/19, and others to catch up on Thunderbolt 3/USB-C 3 (Tusb) or Apple to add the MagSafe and SD-Card ports:(.

Got my eyes on a :rolleyes:refurbished rMBP13"2015 on the weekend, but I wanted to check up on EN-Keyboard for refurb with Apples Sales Support and waited for Monday morning to call by then it was sold, and refurbished ones only have keyboard layouts based on GeoLocation :(. Thought about getting one from US store would've cost the same with tax(vat), shipping and all that :D.
Checked the Web again might be on Sale somewhere o_O, and found one:).
A reseller of an electronic retail chain not far from me just put up a  Summer Sale online "Lucky", checked availability and called the store and got one hell of an  on the phone

Ended with a new rMBP 13"2015 :) got it for the price of a new MBA what ended with 41€ more than refurb rMBP :p
The keyboard issue was taken care of with a EU/UK skin cover

Just finished a Real Life Battery Test on it, and got 11 Hours ;)

Got the base 15-inch yesterday. Have to say my opinion on touch bar is slightly changing. Revolutionary, no. Can live without, yes. At a min the touch ID is convenient.

Will say not as time passes. The machine though I love so far

Got my MacBook Pro last week. Is there a way that I can configure the laptop to go to sleep by tapping the power button instead of the default that requires me to hold it down for a second or so and then releasing the button before it will go to sleep?

Ordered 2012 13" cMBP 2.5 i5 from the Certified Refurbished store yesterday for $829. It has base specs (2x2GB RAM, 500GB HDD), but I'm planning to max the RAM and swap to a SSD.

Time will tell if I overpaid or if I could have gotten a better deal buying from a different source.

For my first ever 100%-mine :apple: Mac, I think I could have done worse. :)
----------------
Updated:
Refurbished, but looks completely mint. The stock RAM and HDD perform better than I expected. I could not be more pleased. Once I add two 8GB sticks of RAM (last year that could be done in a MBP) and an SSD, and I think I'll be good to go for a while.

This is the base for a mini home, even portable recording studio. Humble beginnings, but hopefully won't stay that way forever. Even so, I'll be having a blast in the process.

13" nTB model returned and my 15" 2.8 / 16GB / 256GB / 555 2GB model is due for delivery this morning between 10-11am. Don't feel the best about the TB price bump to get the specs but hopefully use will convince me otherwise...

It's gonna feel like a long day before home 'MacBook Pro' time

Why are you switching?
What performance issues did you have with the base 13"?

Just got my base 13" 2017 Pro. I'm coming from a base 2015 12" MB, and this keyboard is definitely different. The keys have a slight lateral wobble to them that the 12" doesn't have. They're definitely easier on the fingers though. Also, the KB backlight on the Pro isn't as bright, which I though was odd. Anyone else noticed that?

I might do the exact same.
Got the 2015 mb because I couldn't wait anymore for the MBP refresh. Then they even half assed that.. Now is an okay time to buy but still no tiered battery and no high end non-tb (useless and counterintuitive) options.

How's the performance difference?
Night and day or what?
The mb is barely a computer....
What's the battery life difference?

I replaced my late 2011 17" MacBook Pro with a mid 2015 refurb. I was hoping the 2016 redo was what I wanted, but it turned out to be a smack in the face. With my 17" going vintage and already experiencing two gpu failures, I bit the bullet and downgraded. The 2015 is faster, but I installed an SSD and max/faster ram in my 17" so at no point did it ever feel slow. Other than what feels like a small speed boost, I'm missing the screen real estate. One day in and I already have a border of fingerprints around the display. I miss my matte screen. The one thing that makes me happy is that I'm not having to deal with a bunch of dongles. RIP form follows function.

Yup. My 2012 maxed out 17" high res matte with 16gb ram, fast SSD and 750gb secondary drive was a beast. Loved it.
The Geekbench scores it would do are still up there with the latest maxed 15".
Just not really a laptop at that size and weight.
Apple really hasn't improved much in the last 5 years.

I travel a lot and my 17" went with me everywhere. i miss the real estate

For simple multi-tasks such as Safari, Word, iTunes or video playback or just FCP on it's own with 3 min 4K footage my CPU temps were hitting the 80-90c range (case very hot to the touch) and fans up to 5-6k rpm. Even on my older 2009 MacBook Pro I found it hard to hit those ranges.

Thrown loads of stuff at the 15" I got, much of which would normally be done on my 2015 iMac 27" and it breezes through them. The second fan and quad core's certainly make a difference if your wanting to do more than one thing (basic) or using FCP for occasional to moderate video editing.

Just received my 2017 TB 15" MBP (2.9/512/560), no noticeable display issues and the touchbar works great after some customisation with bettertouchtool
