Yea I got a base model on Amazon. It’s very small and I don’t feel like going through the process of returning it and waiting for a new one. In reality, small scuffs like this will happen, so I’m gonna have to put up with it.... but it still bothers me lol.

Yeah that scratch is so minor, it wouldn't bother me, I probably wouldn't even notice it for a long time, if ever. I applaud you for keeping it. Life is too short to be made unhappy by unimportant things like that.

I'm absolutely amazed with my 13" MacBook Pro. My last computer was a 2008 MacBook Pro. It died a few months ago after a water incident involving a cat !

I bought the 11" iPad Pro but it just wasn't for me. It's a great device though. I sold it and went back to what I know best the MacBook Pro.

Everything is smooth and runs great. Mind you I could have gone with a MacBook Air since I use my wife's 2015 every now and then but I just wanted to get something with a little more grit.

Recently upgraded to the 2019 13 inch MBP with Touch Bar and Touch ID 2.4 Ghz Base model and picked it up at the Apple store. Noticed it had a bit of a scratch/dent mark on the corner of the body (definitely visible). Was a bit bummed, but also had lots of residue markings all over the place so I wasn't happy (even though it does come right off when I clean it).

Anyways looks like they had the 2.8 GHz i7 with 16 GB ram and 1 tB in stock at the apple store so when to get it exchanged. So far loving it.

Just bought a MacBook Pro 13 i5 2019 8/256 online, current is a first gen MacBook Retina. Really looking forward to the new play pretty. I trade stocks, was planning on setting up dual monitors, but I just saw the wireless feature on YouTube to use my iPad Pro 12.9 Gen 3 as a second independent monitor, it looks cool as hell, and no wires!!! I hate wires :)

holy crap, I’ve belonged here for almost 10 years

I just ordered the refurbished 2019 15-inch MacBook Pro 16/512. Very excited! I also think this is the first day the May 2019 models are available refurbished since I've been checking fairly regularly the last couple weeks.

I know the Touch Bar gets a lot of hate on here, but it's nice viewing PDFs in full screen and selecting pages from the Touch Bar.

I just can't believe how much lighter this 15 inch MBP is than my 2012 13 inch, I gained 2 inches and lost a pound.

Same here I was using a 13" MBP from 2008 not so long ago. As for the touch bar it's nice, but I don't find myself using it that often.

I’ve just got a refurbished Late 2013 MacBook Pro 13" (2.4/256/8), to replace my Early 2011 13" MBP.

Got it for £429 on musicMagpie.co.uk.

It’s in great shape - a few scratches on the lid, but the screen and keyboard are immaculate. Came with power cable (even though it said it didn’t). It’s also my first time using a Retina Mac.

Feel like I’ve got a bargain. I didn’t really want a new one, just something to replace my ageing 2011 MBP. At least it natively supports Mojave and Catalina.

Don't want to rain on your new/old computer parade, but 2013-2011 is only two years. You got a computer that's two years newer than than your "aging" 2011. So now you have a six year old computer instead of an eight year old computer. Kinda curious why you wouldn't just hold out for a deal on something relatively more recent than a 2013 MBP, even with the great deal you got.

I have a 2018 13-inch MacBook Pro, but I am dying for Apple to announce the heavily rumored 16-inch upgrade to switch to it. I can't stand this keyboard anymore...makes my wrists hurt...alot!

I ordered a refurbished 2019 13 inch MacBook Pro (2.4/16/512) with AppleCare this morning. I'm looking forward in using it. I hope that Apple's refurbished process is top notch.

It is. You won't be able to tell your refurbished computer from a brand new one. But your bank account will!! Meaning, you saved some decent coin by purchasing a refurb.

I understand what you mean. I didn't want (nor could I really justify paying for) a newer machine. All I really wanted was a Retina MBP that supports Catalina, and will be supported for a few more years. I spotted this one and thought it was a good price. However to me this machine feels like a huge upgrade from my 2011 MBP. After I ordered it, I spotted an Early 2015 MBP for an extra £60, but I felt there wasn't really much difference between the two (plus I had already placed the order).

The Retina display is incredible.

I bought a MBP13 (2019) base model yesterday (1.4Ghz/8GB/256GB) for a decent price and I have to say I really like it. I had a MBA (2018) before, and this feels like a solid step up. I was a little worried initially for the storage, but as this will be my casual unit and all real storage will be on a NAS, I really don't see how it'll be a problem.

Also, while I really liked almost everything with MBA, I have a way better feeling abou the MBP. The devil is in the details, right? ;-)

Was going to wait for 16" but decided to go with this:
Apple 15" MacBook Pro with Touch Bar, Intel Core i7 2.6GHz, Pro 560X, 32GB RAM, 1TB SSD, Space Gray (Mid 2019)

Got it new in sealed box for $2700, $3299 regular price.. figured with those savings if the 16" is legendary I can still sell it for a decent price and just pay the extra for the upgrade. But I have a feeling this 15" will be fine for me for 2 years.

I actually decided to return my base model MBP13 today. Not that I don't like (love?) it, but I've ordered a proper 13-inch 2019 2,4ghz/16gb/512gb 4-port one instead. Money does seem to grow on trees around here... ;-)

The wife had the last week of her student coupons, so I had to go for it. Got a 300$ discount and a free pair of Beats wireless headphones.

I bought a 2.4/8/256 last week, but after so much reading and research I think I'd rather have more ram and at that point might as well get the SSD I want, so just pulled the trigger on 1.4/16/512, so similar to what you did.

For me, it was important to get the better cooling and speakers of the 2,4ghz, plus it’s nice with 4 usb-c ports.

Still, the 1,4 is a solid choice. :)

1.4/16/512 is exactly what I went with, haven't regretted it. I was thinking of the 2.4 but since it is so close to the 2.4 and that I'm fine with 1 fan, 2 ports and the speakers as they are I couldn't justify putting out more cash.

I hear ya, that's what I was thinking at first as well. My reality is that I thought hey if speakers aren't quite as nice, since I'm buying it through the edu discount and get free beats, I can use those if I really want to crank it :).

Awesome, this is exactly what I was thinking, already pushing it on the price with those upgrades I wanted so I figured i gotta compromise somewhere.

How do you like the speakers by the way. I read all sorts of reviews ranging from hey they sound great, not nearly as good as 2.4, abysmal, or bad but still better than windows laptops typically. Hard to judge based on all sorts of different reviews.
