I'm looking to get the same one! Where did you find it at that price?
I just bought my "second" MacBook Pro yesterday. The first one I had was a refurbished Mid 2012 13" MBP 4GB RAM - 500GB SSD. I got the refurb a few weeks ago, but the WiFi stopped working and I had to return it two days after receiving it. After that experience I decided to just wait a few weeks to save up for a new one. I got the latest 13" MBP with Touch Bar base model with 256GB SSD. So far I love it!! It's a learning curve coming from Windows but having everything else in the Apple ecosystem I've adjusted well and I love it!
Ordered a MBP 13" : 1.4/256/16 Last week (29th).
Expected delivery date is the 8th. I'm crossing my fingers I get lucky and have it delivered before that.
Edit : I cancelled my order and ordered a 1.4/512/16 instead, estimated date 14-19th

I would consider selling it honestly especially if you have enough money to afford a fully loaded one. It still probably has a ton of value and the 16 inch mbp coming up might be significantly better, especially with the better keyboard and screen.
I really feel it's the worst time to buy a 15 inch mbp, especially since its a totally new redesign we are getting. First releases do have issues though but nothing apple care can't take care of.
I am buying a maxed-out 15" MBP today as I'm 100% sure I don't want the new 16", or any other new Mac that will ship with Catalina.
I'm going to hang on to a few 32-bits apps for at least the next 3 years that the AppleCare+ covers. These apps are more important than having the newest design.
I, for one, love the butterfly keyboard in the current MBP. Processor-wise, it seems there's nothing better coming from Intel anytime soon, so I have no fear of missing out on the 16".

Who says you can't use those apps on the new mbp? You can remove Catalina and use a previous OS version.
By the way, I’m pretty sure Apple recently reduced the price of certain configurations. I had a 15” MacBook Pro with 16gb of ram and 2tb of storage in my cart last week and it was around $3500. I checked again and it’s a bit above $3200.
That would be great if it were possible. I'm not sure it will be. Apple seriously limits how a given device can be downgraded.

Just purchased a mid-2012 non-Retina 15" MBP. Has a 2.3ghz quad-core CPU, 4GB of 1600mhz RAM, and a 500GB HDD. Condition looks to be good from the photos, and I can't wait for it to get here to perform some upgrades and start using it!
Will be replacing a late-2011 MBP 13" i5 (2.4ghz). I may give this laptop to my parents, because they have always used PCs prior to this, but have other Apple products (iPhones, and iPads). This would further implement the Apple ecosystem for them, and enhance their user experience.
Anyway, my upgrades for the machine are... 16GB of 1600mhz RAM, a 1TB Samsung EVO 860 SSD, and a new battery. The machine will be fully disassembled and cleaned, with new thermal paste/pads applied. Then a fresh install of Mojave will follow. Will complement my 5,1 Mac Pro nicely!

Just in case some are wondering about delivery dates. My MBP I cancelled was delivered today, 2 days before the announced date.
Unfortunately I had to refuse it with the DHL guy. I won't be refusing the next one. Hope I get lucky again and the delivery is fast.

So I bought my first MacBook since 2012 yesterday. Does anyone know why the higher end ones take so long to ship? Are they made to order?
15 inch i7, 2TB SSD, 16GB memory. Probably more than I need, but I figure I’ll get some longevity out of it.

I've recently picked up a 15" MacBook Pro mid-2015, i7 2.5GHz, 16GB Ram and 256GB SSD. It's in excellent condition. I know that with a lot of MBP's these days they are 'un-upgradeable' due to parts being soldered in. However, I am wondering whether in the future the SSD would be upgradeable to a larger one (1TB?) with this machine?
I hear you. Trouble is I'm really not likely to find a buyer where I live for this system at anywhere near the price I've paid, so...
I ordered on August 5th for store pickup and it said it’ll be ready by August 15th, but now it says it shipped and is on the way to the store. That can’t possibly take another 8 days, right? Lol.
I am confident you will get your pickup notification on/for Monday.
Before ordering my current 13" I ordered another on a Monday just like you and it arrived the next Tuesday 2 days before what Apple announced.
It's my understanding that Apple delivers often before the communicated date.
There's a good chance you will be able to pick up your machine on Monday or Tuesday. (fingers crossed)

The 2015 Macbook Pros can be upgraded to an NVME M.2 drive. I've installed six such drives in both the 13" and 15" models. You'll need an adapter (the popular Sintech one is about $15), two screwdrivers, and the drive itself. I've had fantastic luck with the Sabrent Rocket. Your choice of drive matters because these drives run hotter than the OEM one, and many M.2 drives run hotter than I'd like.
Should you upgrade your 15" 2015 you'll get much faster read and write speeds, more storage, but you'll take a bit of a battery life hit. Not huge on the 2015, but noticeable. Totally worth it, though. The 1tb Rocket runs $110, plus $15 for the Sintech adapter.
[doublepost=1565320121][/doublepost]Setting aside the 2015 Macbook Pros I've bought and flipped of late, I got myself a new toy. I got a 2016 MacBook Pro 13 (touchbar, 3.1ghz 8gb RAM, 256gb SSD). I intentionally bought the cheapest one on eBay. The screen has some delamination, so I'm taking it to Apple tomorrow for a new screen. Gods above, I love buying defective Macbooks for less money knowing I can get the problem resolved for free (other than some downtime).
Not too bad for $800, methinks. I'm rather loving the machine so far. 270 battery cycles and the keyboard seems 100% functional. I'll need to ask the Genius tomorrow if the keyboard has been replaced up to this point.
Caved in and picked up a refurb 2018 13 inch MBP, i7, 1TB, 16GB.
So far a bit of a mixed bag. Overall it's somewhat nicer than the 2015 model it is replacing (also an i7, 1TB, 16GB config), but I am really struggling with the touch bar. I have configured it to show only the keys I want, but I still really miss the normal keys. Battery life seems a bit weaker too.
The butterfly keyboard and USB-C ports are things I can live with, although I already miss the SD Card slot, a USB-A slot and the HDMI. Dongle-life it is.
All that said, I think I will keep it, as I appreciate the slight reduction in size and weight from 2015, plus the quad-core performance is nice to have. Trackpad is good and not too big, as I had feared. TouchID is nice on login. GPU performance is also notably better - and better than I had been led to believe from reviews.
Overall though the design feels a little bit two steps forward, one step back.
Probably won't buy AppleCare as I feel I will flip it once the 2020 refresh comes out.
