Very psyched...put in an order for 16 inch with i9, 32GB RAM, 1TB HD, 8GB GPU. I've been waiting for a long time to make this upgrade through work. Supposed to come second week in April. It's replacing a 2012 Retina 15inch MBP. Hoping it comes earlier, though!

Feels so satisfying to finally use a Mac with a dGPU :D Sustained turbo on full CPU-load seems to be around 3GHz as well, which feels fine.

Can anyone shed any light on my question?

I might be a bit paranoid here but I have one strange question. When I unboxed the MBP it was fully sealed but did not have the tab to pull off the wrapper? Can this be right? Do some come with a tab and others without? I bought the 1TB model? If you watch unboxing on Youtube there's a tab on the wrapper that you pull. Mine didn't have one? Any ideas?

I bought off Amazon. I called Apple today and they checked the serial number and said that it is a new machine. They couldn't shed any light of the pull tab and suggested I contact Amazon (I've requested a return). I also checked the battery cycle which was on 1. Am I being a bit picky or not? I just figure for a £2500 machine (it was £260 cheaper than from Apple) I need to be 100% certain that it's not beed opened before. Thanks.

Worst case it’s been opened once before and pretty much hasn’t been used and would by consumer laws in my country still be considered “new in box”. Logistics worldwide are strained at the moment so I wouldn’t bother with any kind of return unless it is actually damaged.

Just made my MacRumors account. Few weeks ago went back to the 2017 MacBook Pro Escape base model but with 256GB memory. Got it for £899 in the UK from Curry's. I think that's a steal! Loving it so far. Just fingers crossed the keyboard doesn't give up... lol

Decided to bite the bullet and ordered with 64GB RAM, 8GB AMD with 2TB SSD. Almost 5 months without a laptop sucked. Had a 2017 that needed 4 keyboard replacements (couldn't take it anymore) so I traded it in. Hopefully this one will be way better for reliability. Should be getting in about a week.

I never experienced the butterfly keyboard, but coming from the 2012 retina MBP, which had a stellar keyboard, this new one is awesome...feels very similar (albeit with a slightly more hollow sound to the keyboard clicks."

Ended up buying a base i9 refurbished from Apple. Seriously considering returning it given that it has the 16gb of ram instead of >32gb, especially considering my previous two laptops had 16gb as well.
Does anyone here have an i7(!) with 32gb of ram? I don't really have any real need for the i9 but I feel the extra ram would help

Ordered a 16 inch i9 2,3, 32gb, 5500 4gb, 1tb ssd from Apple yesterday. Didn‘t want to buy a better spec, since I use my macbooks exclusively for Logic Pro/music making and browsing the web. Could have gone for 64gb, but I got talked out of it lol.

But they say it will be here in around 2 weeks, which is not even that bad considering my wife‘s new macbook air 2020 will be here at the end of April.

I have a i7 and 32 gb and it meets all my needs. I have VM and wanted the extra ram because of that. It made a tremendous difference going to 32gb verus 16gb on VM. Just depends on what you use it for.

Happened to have a look on Apple refurbs on Monday night and they had some 2019 16” 2.4 i9/32GB/2TB/8GB in space grey ready for next day delivery (came yesterday). Wanted the i9/32GB anyway so for this spec it wasn’t much more. Love Apple refurbs, essentially brand new. Came from a mid 2015 which is still a solid machine. Now seemed like a good time to upgrade now they have sorted the keyboard issues and will be needing 32GB quite soon. Looks great in SG and can’t wait to get using it.

MBP 16 refurbs looked to be well stocked in various configurations. Good time to get one if you’ve been waiting. Essentially are brand new!

Might end up returning it(hopefully they will accept it after everything blows over) or just stay with it.

Two tiny dings on mine. Otherwise good though. Really tempted to replace my base i9 with the i9/32gb

Just received my 2.3 Ghz, 32GB, 1 TB, 8GB of vram model. Really pleased so far coming from a late 2016 15" MacBook Pro. Went with silver this time (which I love) and the keyboard feels great.

I personally actually need the power of the 16 inch Macbook Pro, so I just bought one. I really don't care if the new one is a marginal or whatever upgrade because in two years we'll get an even better one. Not to mention that I can always just sell the one I get and use the money I get to purchase a new one, if I desperately need it, which is never the case...

Just purchased a refurbished 2019 13" MBP i5 1.4GHz, 8GB, 256GB HDD to replace my 2017 12" MacBook. Had order a 2020 MacBook Air, but ultimately decided to cancel and order the MBP instead. Looking forward to it getting here so I can put it to use -- primarily with my photo processing in LR and PS.
