Damn 250Go HDD shortages. I feel so unlucky this time, ordered on 13 morning, my order status still say "Delivers: 05 Aug, 2009". :(

I can't wait.

That was the size I was going to go for until I noticed how much longer that would take compared to the 320GB. As I have student discount and it was only around £30 or so more to up the harddrive, and yet still keep my set up under £1,000 I thought 'what the hell?' and got the 320GB.

Today I upgraded from a 12'' PB to a 15'' 2.66 MBP.

What a joy! It's a flawless machine and the screen and speed is incredible.

The Migration Assistant is a godsend too.

If it does... that means you're going to get yours the day after I get mine. Though mine has been shipped since the 20th July, it's estimated delivery date is still the 29th.

Guess you're nearer to where they ship them from to only have a 4 day estimate.

Ordered my new 15" MBP last night. Chose the version with the 320GB drive and the 9600M GT "discrete" 2nd video card. Fairly excited.

FedEx(cuse) says they have it. I paid for the expedited shipping, but so far estimated delivery is Monday (bummer). Wanting it today, of course.

My wife will inherit my white MacBook, which has been a very nice machine indeed. The HP Windows laptop goes on eBay, and we're done with Windows at home forever.

Come on, FedEx.

Ha ha, love this whole post, especially the "FedEx(cuse) which is so true about them. My 13" Macbook Pro didn't ship the day FedEx said it would but I have it now and I'm happy.

Incidentally, I don't think you are getting much faster shipping by paying for expedited shipping. In my experience, the standard free shipping has been just as fast.

My fourth MacBook Pro just arrived with a 5400RPM drive. There is no beeping, no freezing, and it has no other defects so far. So my advise is this, avoid 7200RPM drives until Apple fixes the problems with them. For now stick with the 5400RPM drives that work. I am not a fan of having a slower drive, but so far it seems pretty good.

I'll also chime in on ship times.
The first two I got went standard shipping and took 3 and 4 days to arrive.
The last two they sent expedite and took 2 and 3 days.
This is the time it took Fedex, the average time for the computer to be built was 1 day, this does not include the time it took for the order to go through or the slow downs due to too many orders like with the 13" MBP's.

That's less of a wait than when I bought my Macbook back in 2006 mind you. Can't remember the exact delay now but it was long. (I had an email from apple apologising that they had had more demand than expected and that it would be delayed. At one point I wasn't sure whether it would arrive before I started uni even though I ordered it end of July (I think it was). It did though).

I ordered mine from the Apple online store about 30 minutes ago with apple care and an incase neoprene sleeve. Should be here in a couple days. Oh the anticipation is killing me! My first mac!!! (aside from iPod's and my iPhone.)

Well i just really regret not upgrading the hard drive. I would have paid a little more but at least i would have my mac by now and it would have more space. Ouch I hope they dont delay it more then it already is. That would be hitting below the belt. This is my first mac so its kind of a big thing for me. I plan on upgrading to a 3gs when i qualify for subsidized pricing, so maybe if i complain about this they can move the subsidized pricing closer then december... :D pff i wish...

Well, thankyouverymuch....:D FedEx(cuse) is my biggest nightmare when ordering from Apple. I've ordered some odds and ends from the Apple Store in the past, and Fex has never failed to fail each time. This time, I paid the $18 for "expedited" shipping, hoping against hope for better delivery service.

Apple sent me a survey once on shipping, asking if I would pay a bit more for other shipping options. Oh yes, I would pay more than a bit more to choose UPS.

Shipping a jewel like a MBP via FedEx is like putting mag wheels on a garbage truck.

UPS is the one firm in the UK that I'm hoping they haven't used this time. Last time they tried to steal my USB TV Stick. (It was only thanks to Apple's tracking page that I saw it come up as signed by my surname). When I rang them up they said we were out when they tried to deliver it (Which was a load of nonsense), and that they'd left it with our nextdoor neighbour. I checked with them and found that no, they hadn't, then rang them again. I then got an 'oh sorry must have been the other next door neighbour' which I knew couldn't be right because they were away somewhere at the time. Eventually they scheduled a redelivery after I DEMANDED it be the Saturday morning (this was the Friday) because I was going to be leaving for University after that and to make sure that it was early enough. It only got here 5 minutes before I was going to leave. Any later and there really wouldn't have been anyone in to recieve it.

That is my only experience of UPS so I'm hoping Apple have used TNT for my Macbook Pro like they did for my Macbook back in 2006 !!

Hmm.. I had a very similar experience with FedEx here. They said they delivered it, they had not, and after several heated phone calls, they "found" it.

Main differences:

1) I used FedEx (had no choice)
2) I spell it "neighbor" (again no choice, it's our schools)
3) I like beer cold (that's by choice, although not "bud" - yuck).:D

Well thankfully they can't use FedEx here. There's no such company.

UPS, Lynx, DPD, and TNT are the only ones I can think of off the top of my head that do UK deliveries.

Anyway, how do you know how I like my beer? :p :D (Yes I'm girl who likes bitter - so what?)

They do use FedEx in the UK - we have deliveries and pickups from them regularly..

Really? Huh, sorry then. Never had anything delivered by them.

What's the betting when I get my tracking number from Apple it will end up being a FedEx one just to make me feel even more of an idiot?

I think Apple use UPS for the UK, mine was delivered with UPS, and I have seen people on here living in the UK having theirs delivered by UPS.
