Ordered a new MBP 17" with matte screen this thursday.
I had a SR MBP from mid 07', that died on me 2 weeks ago because of the Nvidia card. Wasn't covered under the extended warranty though...

Should be receiving it this wednesday.

Couldn't really decide whether I should go with the glossy or the "anitglare" option. Ended up with ordering the matte screen. Considered returning it if I didn't like the matte compared to the glossy. I'm now typing on my GF's 13" uMB with the glossy screen.
Checked out the Alice in Wonderland trailer on Apple Trailers, and mayn the refelctions was annoying since there is a lot of black in this trailer.
Would be great in the evening though!

Where can I find the shipment details? Can't see anything about the status of the shipping besides the ETA.

If i log in to the american store I can that FedEx is the courier and their supposed order number. But when i search for the order, the tracking says that it is invalid.

Got my shipping notice today for the 17" MBP - it is apparently coming from Shanghai China?? Is that normal?

Depends what you do to it. If you customised it at all, then the shipping would've come from China, even if you just had iWork installed. However, if you just ordered a base unit with no changes, it usually comes from within your own country.

I ordered my base model 13" mbp from amazon with the free ipod touch last friday with saturday delivery and it was on my door 12 hrs later. Loving it. (upgraded from the last non-unibody 15" mbp) Threw the ipod touch on ebay to offset some of the cost and soon my mbp will follow.

Amazing story.

Okay so I was just browsing the computer stores here in Denver and as I was browsing through this old computer shop I noticed they had several boxes of Mac laptops in the back. Long story short, I found a completely sealed, brand spanking new PowerBook G4 12" (the one that is in my sig now). Sure I traded the 15" I had just gotten for it, but its worth it, I need the portability and the fact I found a 12" like I did is amazing. Heres a picture of the baby just as soon as i finished cleaning the dock and setting my wallpaper :D.

Wow, nice. How much did you buy it for?

YES!! My MBP has finally come and it is amazing. I loved how simple it was to use migration assistant and I have to admit that I thought it would be a lot more complicated. I didn't think that having everything on your desktop, turned portable would be this cool. :D

Received a new 17" uMBP... great impressions

I received a new 17" 2.8 MBP w/matte screen yesterday... after installing all my apps and trying out the new notebook I am impressed. Previously we had a couple of 17" 2.4 Santa Rosa MBPs and while it is not a drastic change it is a welcomed change. The high resolution evenly lit LED screen is leagues above the the old screen and I love the fact that all the ports are on the left side now. I don't know if my old MBP became sluggish but this one is a lot faster when running a bunch of programs and parallel in the background.

I was worried about the screen, the hinges and the ticking hard drive... but everything is fine and the screen is beautiful. Definably a great update.

now i'm just waiting for iPhoto's face scan to finish (118 mins left)

Got mine today as well. What I really dig, compared to the 15" I had (and I suppose the 13" as well) is the thinner bezel. In comparison this looks like a real laptop display as opposed to a big black designer frame for a picture.

Secondly of course the higher resolution, making text much more legible if at the same absolute size (which requires increasing the minumum dpi resolution in some apps).

I pulled the trigger, so to speak, and ordered a 13" MBP 2,53GHz, spiced up with the 128 SSD and AppleCare, to replace my rev. A MBA. Had to take the SSD since I've had it in the MBA and I adore them in laptops.

Now it's about a two weeks wait apparently (ordered from a local dealer). Oh well...

Why not go with the Intel X25? You'd save yourself some money and get much better performance...

Just Got My Macbook Pro

So I just picked up my 13' Macbook Pro 2.23Ghz from Best Buy today! And I gotta tell you I'm loving the screen even more then older unibody macbook screen. I did have a difficult time deciding what to get because they did have an open item Macbook Unibody 2.4ghz (last years model) for 899! It was returned and in perfect condition! But I really wanted the newer pro for it's battery and better screen. I was really torn but decided to get the "Pro" version and really happy I did! What do you guys think? Shelled out another 200 for the Pro version cause I got the student discount.

I don't post here a lot but I have been reading the forums religiously for the last year or so, in anticipation of switching to Mac.

I just ordered the base model 13" MacBook Pro, with the free iPod touch and a Booq Mamble saddle bag and the display port to dvi adapter for using my 23" Acer monitor. Came to $1900 Canadian after tax, but after all rebates and selling the iPod (i have first gen 16gb touch already) the pro will have cost me approx $1240...supperb deal for what you get in the current model :)

I think I'm in shock that I actually just made the order.

I will just pick up a sleeve or something by september when school starts up.

Finally got my new MacBook Pro 2 days ago! I just got the lowest end 13", but I added a new 500GB 7200RPM HD and 4GB RAM myself. :D I also put windows 7 on there, just for Office and some games.

I also got a Minidisplayport to DVI adapter to use it with my Dell 22" 1080P monitor, an Incase sleeve, and an Incase laptop backpack.

Edit: Forgot to even leave a review, haha. Basically, I love it!!! The trackpad is excellent, and even with the slower processor and graphics chip, it seems to keep up pretty well with my iMac.
