Well I've been lurking here for ages, trying to bite the bullet and actually order a Mac. Finally did it today and I'm really excited - the only Apple stuff I've ever owned is a few ipods since 2003 and a couple of iphones. I've never even used a Mac OS other than the iphone's but I can't wait to get it on Tuesday when it arrives.

Just need to decide on a suitable sleeve/backpack now...

lol felt like I just made a confession or something.

New MBP 2.66 GHZ 320 GB 4GB replacing an 07 model 2.4 GHZ straight up courtesy of Apple Retail Store manager...nice to have a Mac.

Me too! I was so surprised - I will always buy Apple Care!!

I think one of the tech guys wanted to harvest the body parts from mine as he got me to sign a hardware repair form and commented on how well id looked after it ..... ah, but who cares, as i got me a new one for free!

Just ordered 17" MBP, 2.8, 4g RAM, 5400 HD, glossy. "Free" iPod touch, and Moshi keyboard protector. Quite a price tag. Still up in the air about matte, but oh well. Now comes the waiting! Looking forward to becoming a seasoned Mac user!

Recieved my Mid-2009 13" MacBook Pro laptop. Very pleased after being a Windows based PC user. Upgraded the harddrive and Ram myself, Seagate 5400rpm 500GB & Corsair 2x2GB Corsair Ram respectively.

Installed some apps and shall be acquiring Mac version of call of duty 4 to put it through its paces.

The Mac OS X is very linux-esque (based on a unix os), so it's been relatively easy getting used to the OS as I've used linux Mint, Ubuntu & Fedora.

Just got the email that my shipment's on the way, should have my 13" MBP - my first Mac - on Friday. However, it is my luck that it's due to be delivered while my wife is out of the house and I'm at work. Really don't want to have to leave it sitting outside in the 110 degree heat, and the neighbors aren't going to be home to get it, either. I'm hoping fate convenes in the right way and Fedex and my wife run into each other at the right time.

Either way, I'm looking forward to finally declaring myself "switched." What should be my first annoying oft-repeated forum topic? ;)

Sold my Macbook yesterday and just bought the 13" MBP 2.26 with the student deal today. Got it home and was sooo excited. I washed my hands twice before taking it out of the box. Of course, presentation was awesome, as always to be expected from Apple.

I'm so happy with this upgrade, and it was a huge upgrade for me considering my previous macbook and the fact i do a lot of design work on it. I fell in love with the portability of the 13" one and I'm really happy with my decision. It's so much fun. And the trackpad is amazing... haha.

If you took the laptop stand off of the external drives, it seems the laptop monitor would be a better height beside the ACD, or is it just the way it looks in the photos? I will probably set mine up so that the macbook monitor is lined up with the top of my 23" monitor, or perhaps equal distance from top and bottom. I suppose I will decide once I see how the cross monitor action is, in the sense of where the mouse enters the larger screen (if that makes sense).

I put it on the drives because the stand is too short. It sits several inches lower than the inch higher it's sitting on top of the drives.

I understand what you mean. With it lower it wasn't a smooth transition from screen to screen. This way, it's easier on the eye.

You must have ridiculous amounts of money. How the hell you can afford all that I do not know.

Heres my story.

After scouring the web for weeks trying to find the screaming deal and debating 2.53 vs. 2.66, I decided 2.53 and found the deal on eBay.

After ordering I contacted the seller and offered $15 to upgrade shipping from Parcel Post (12-19 days) to UPS. The seller agreed and took it to UPS yesterday.

While there the UPS clerk knocked the sealed, unopened, brand new MBP off the counter and onto a truck part causing the box to be pierced and the corner smashed.

Needless to say my money was refunded and I must restart my search. I would buy from Apple refurb but the tax makes it no bueno.
