I've been clinging onto my 2015 mainly for the USB-A ports. But with another swollen battery (which I already paid full to have replaced OOW), 20GB left on my 500GB SSD, I figured it was time as I didn't want to sink even more money into it.
I believe I shed a tear or two as I packed up my 2015 yesterday to trade in!

congratulations. I am using this dock at home and using my M1 Pro in clamshell mode.

my wife is using this one with her M1 Pro and she uses the Mac as a second screen by keeping it open

hope that helps.
Thank you for the information. I ended up ordering the Satechi TB4 dock. Pricey, but it is working flawlessly for my needs (too many old peripherals, including with room to expand.

The macBook arrived today around 1430... and yeah it's pretty amazing

Screen looks amazing, keyboard is lovely and the speakers are pretty f**king loud.

Only just finished restoring the time machine backup so gonna give it a proper workout now

I picked up another Mid 2015 15-inch rMBP 2.8GHz i7/16GB/256GB in pristine condition from eBay but this time a Dual Graphics model for $310. Like the previous 15 inch MacBook Pro, this one did not come with its original box and AC adapter but when it arrived this laptop like the previous one was in absolute pristine condition. Packaging was perfect and even the anti-glare coating on the screen was also in perfect condition. Very pleased with my recent acquisitions :apple:

Been playing with my refurbished 2021 32/1tb 16" MBP for a few days now. Absolutely love it! Coming from a 2014 13" MBP I was a bit worried the size increase might be too much but I'm loving the extra real estate so far. I was at about 70% battery capacity on the old one, and even with a replacement to 100% I would not have expected to get more than 5, maybe 6 hours on battery. So this new machine is a BEAST for me so far :)

(although low power mode seems to have a weird scrolling bug for me, not a fan of that but I guess happy it's software not harware)

Scored a 1 month old, lightly used 14" MBP base model for ~$1550 USD including tax. It's on its way to me now :) Replacing a borrowed 2015 MBP 15". Excited to do some recording in Logic on my own laptop!

Just pulled the trigger on a refurbished base 14" from Apple.

Tried so hard to wait for the release this Spring but half the screen on my 16" is practically unusable after being dropped. If the update ends up being substantial I can just wait till it hits the refurbished store this fall. Otherwise I'm looking forward to an OLED model in 2024.

Recently picked up the 14" M1 Macbook pro 10/16 1Tb model in space grey. Love this thing. Came from a MBA M1 8/8 8Gb 512. I under specced the air in the ram and storage department, and a friends 2014 MBA crapped itself so he bought my Air and I put the money along with Apple Gift cards and credit card to buy the new one.

(I only got it out for a sec to take this pic. As I live in Australia, I am very wary of having any beverages around a $3800AUD laptop!

edit: spelling.

Aren't they glorious? I'd seen them in store, but it's a whole different thing once it's yours haha.

Well, I'd been holding off until the M2 Pro/Max models dropped and here we are so... finally putting my 15" 2016 out to pasture!

Here's what I nabbed:
  • Backlit Magic Keyboard with Touch ID - US English
  • Apple M2 Pro with 12‑core CPU, 19‑core GPU, 16‑core Neural Engine
  • 32GB unified memory
  • Accessory Kit
  • 140W USB-C Power Adapter
  • 16-inch Liquid Retina XDR display²
  • 1TB SSD storage
  • Three Thunderbolt 4 ports, HDMI port, SDXC card slot, headphone jack, MagSafe 3 port
As my 2016 has really been feelings its age these past few years, I couldn't be more excited! Plus - this is my first Apple Silicon Mac! 🎉

How exciting! If my 14" M1 Pro is any indication, you're gonna freakin' love it. Especially coming from a 2016 Pro!

Just ordered a refurb 14inch M1 Pro, 10/16 core, 16GB/1TB, to replace my 2009 MacBook (2GHz C2D, 4GB, 500GB HD, its third battery is on its last legs). It's only about thirty times faster on GB scores, think I'll notice that! £500+ saving over the M2 equivalent, for my needs and wants definitely the better deal. I could have got an MBA instead, but I thought this was the sweet spot. Looking forward to it.

The M1 Max replaced my work desktop unit. It is less than 14 months old. It is the fastest machine out there for the workload I do. Including the razor ( maybe the AMD risen 7049 cpu will give it a challenge ). When I woke up this morning and saw the m2 max MBP 16 released. I clicked it in 30 seconds, put it on the Apple Card and purchased it.

What to do with the M1 Max... Welcome to what I been wanting for months. A linux MacBook pro. With that said, it's time to 'retire' the M1 Max to the land of linux.

I hope the reviews of the m2 max are better than the m2 MBA that got clobbered on the SSD.

Order 1/17/2023, ETA 1/24/2023.... Wouldn't it be nice if it came this weekend???

Ordered a new M2 Max coming from an M1 Max purely for the RAM upgrade. I have 32GB in my current machine and am regularly hitting the red zone in terms of memory pressure. Turns out that constantly running multiple containerized applications + simulators eats up RAM like crazy.

Definitely wouldn’t have upgraded if I had the 64GB M1 Max model, but my workload has changed in the last 6 months and now I need it.

Almost forgot to write into this thread! o_O And yes, I also agree to a previous post here - it’s quite little activity going on after the yesterday release… I guess, Apple has done a good job with M1 Pro/Max family 2 years ago!

I am getting rid of my Early 2020 MacBook Air (Last Intel-Based one with no cooling attached to the heatsink…) in favour of the MacBook Pro 14 with a basic M2 Pro CPU (10C, 16GPU), 32GB RAM and 2TB SSD.

I have waited quite long for this release and am really happy to finally switch to the SoC architecture from Apple! Also the 5nm technology is something that makes me feel I can use the new machine for years ahead :apple:

The pick-up date here in Germany is the 1st of February. Could not be happier 😁

Oh man... from a 2020 Air, you're gonna be in heaven!!!
